Stayed here again this weekend.  What an amazing spot.   The whole place was immaculately clean and Damien, the host, was extremely welcoming (and a total master of the cooked breakfast!).    This is our third stay.   We were in the Sun Room suite for the first time.  It was excellent.   We loved having the wide panorama of the estuary and the hills beyond.   The views from both rooms are spectacular.  A little paradise.   You wont be disappointed if you are lucky enough to get in here.   We did not see the red squirrels - but did have the pleasure of a Nuthatch on the seeds as we ate breakfast.  It certainly was top in the pecking order - sending off the Coal and Blue Tits and mugging an opportunistic Robin.    We love it here - and will definitely return again.   Thank you for a lovely stay.

Another wonderful stay!

Fantastic location, superb room with a massive bed and huge sofa. Damien the host does a great breakfast and has loads of tips of places to go and see. We will definitely be going back 👍👍 views from the bay window stretch across to the lake district. I can also recommend the Anchor hotel great meals and staff 

Great relaxing time 

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying for 3 nights in Roughfirth house in Kippford. 
We were delighted with the standard of accommodation, hospitality and food. 
We stayed in the very spacious luxury double room which is more like a suite with its en-suite bathroom and separate dressing room area.
The views are amazing both from the bedroom and the breakfast room. We had a real treat at breakfast watching the birds and a baby squirrel making its self at home on the bird feeder. Breakfast was delicious and Damien and his wife Louise the owners were very welcoming and knowledgeable of the area.
The building is perched on the hillside with private parking and steps leading up through the lovely garden, not falling down at all according to a review left by a passerby!
The location is ideal being close to wonderful walks starting just along the path at the woods. The walk through the woods takes you to pretty Rockcliffe then you can walk to Castle point and enjoy the views along the coastal walk to sandy hills with its lovely beach.
Local towns nearby with Threave gardens and castle. Lots if places to eat nearby with 2 restaurants in Kippford overlooking the harbour area.
We would highly recommend Roughfirth House for the location and for it's high standards and very relaxing atmosphere.

Outstanding views

On arrival Damian greeted us and showed, up to our room.  We were made to feel at home right from the start.   The room itself was superb and very comfortable with a amazing view day and night.  The location ensures to a quite peaceful rest with plenty of walking trail around to explore.  The breakfast in the mornings was spot on and a great way to start the day.  Our 3 nights here were wonderful with excellent hosts and we certainly would stay here again without hesitation.

Excellent hosts

Particularly enjoyed by my parents following a visit to family in Annan.  Steps up to house a slight challenge but hosts had already offered a helpful workaround.  My parents and brother had adjoining rooms with a shared bathroom and a fantastic glazed viewing terrace/sitting area with far-reaching views across the water. Breakfast good, access to walk along shingle/shell beaches. They couldn’t have been more pleased.

Great place, great view

Arrived at Roughfirth B&B to be met by Louise and Damien who were lovely, there advise regarding places to visit /eat was spot on, breakfast was excellent never before have I eaten breakfast whilst watching a red squirrel perfect on both counts, slept soundly in beautiful spacious rooms with the best views ever. Hopefully one day we will return .

Amazing Views , Lovely Hosts,

We booked to stay two nights, and after eventually finding the property (not very well signed) we climbed the 25 steps to the front door with our luggage. Louise met us and showed us up another 15 stairs to our room on the first floor. The rooms were exceptionally clean and tidy, and our room fronted on to the sun lounge with stunning views over the bay.
As it happens, we were the only guests during those two nights, but the two suites share a common staircase and landing, and our bathroom was off the landing, so not en-suite. It was concerning that there was no way of securing our suite whilst out, and only a small sliding bolt to lock it at night. I would not have been happy leaving valuables in the room if we hadnt been the sole occupants.
It was nice to relax in the sun lounge with hot drinks and shortbread provided, though we did need to turn on the electric heaters in the evening.
Breakfast was served downstairs directly underneath our room with lovely views, and  it was lovely to see a steady stream of garden birds visiting the feeder just feet away from our table, together with a brave young red squirrel feeding on the nuts! We had a small choice of cereals and yoghurts and a choice of freshly cooked food on the main breakfast menu. Damien was the perfect host, cooking our breakfast and telling us all about the area. We were recommended to visit the Red Kite Feeding Station a few miles away, and that was the highlight of our break!
This is a nice place to get away for some peace and quiet, but be aware of the climb up if you are not fully mobile.

Nice and different

This B&B is a real find. We visited for a local family wedding and would stay again in a heartbeat. The house itself is quirky, spacious and wonderfully light and airy. Our room and bathroom were large, we were lucky enough to book the room with the sunroom - what a great extra space to relax and just enjoy the beautiful tranquil views across the water. Super comfortable bed, pristine linen and delicious plentiful breakfasts. Situated in a lovely location with woodland/coastal walks on the doorstep and a few hundred yards stroll along a quiet lane back to the small quiet village - nice tea room & a couple of pubs for evening meals. Damien was a perfect host, welcoming and obliging and happy to chat, without being intrusive. It's a long way for us, but I might have to find an excuse to stay again!

Calm, spotless and idyllically postioned, welcoming  house B&B

Here we were back at Roughfirth House. Still amazing. Excellent breakfast and spotless accommodation as usual. Our room was massive with a large cosy bed and comfortable seating area where we could look out to the beautiful views of estuary and further beyond out to sea.
