We loved it all! From the moment we arrived we felt very welcome. John greeted us and brought us to our room, he made sure we had everything we needed and even gave recommendations for going to Derry city. The room its self was clean, especially the fresh white linens and had everything we needed, we loved the classical style of the home. We had a great sleep and the bed was comfortable. We had a double room with a bath and had access to a shared balcony. Room was a nice temperature, not cold or damp. Breakfast had lots of options, unlimited cereals, fruits, toast etc. I ordered scrambled eggs and they were great, my husband is gluten free and John even threw on more when he heard so he would have a bigger breakfast - very generous. Beautiful, friendly dog Tilly out the front if you wish to hang out but if your not a dog person, don't worry she stays outside :) We were very happy with our stay and would definitely come back!! 10/10

Room and breakfast excellent.  Spotlessly clean, spacious room and en suite  and very comfortable, with an outside terrace and seating.  John was a wonderful host, very helpful and friendly, and his recommendations for two local restaurants were spot on.

A great stay for 3 nights

Stayed for one night and the owner made us most welcome, he went way above and beyond for us.  Room was excellent (one of the best we've stayed in for a while). We spent a lovely evening in the bar with plenty of stories of the good old days from all concerned.

We will be back next time we are down that way.

Brilliant stay with top class host

We came down as a family to stay here as we where at a football tournament nearby. What can I say? We have been to plenty of places in our lifetime but never to one with such a warm welcome and first class service. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was delicious and lots to choose from. As we have 2 young children the park and huge football pitch where amazing. The country house is central to the town and all amenities. Views from the balcony where beautiful! We will definitely be back here. Thank you so much for having us.

Amazing country house

This place is a gem.
We booked 2 rooms for 4 nights.
Spacious, clean, no issues whatsoever.
John works tirelessly like a man possessed to ensure that your stay is smooth.
Breakfast: hearty, filling and delicious.
Bar/Games area: great fun for the kids and parents alike
Rooms: balcony is a fine touch on days like these! ☀️☀️Able to chill with a glass of wine and look out into the countryside.
Great Park area behind to run around and kick a football about as well.

Great find!

Having never visited castlederg b4, I was a bit apprehensive after booking my mum, my sister & i, on a whimsical bank hol wknd break (1 night b4 lol)
But luckily my last minute find in the Ardgort house turned out to be the perfect post lockdown break…relaxing & peaceful with a host who could not do enuf for us! Comfy room with a terrace, cosy atmospheric bar, delicious breakfast! 

Unfortunately, due to circumstances out of the owners control the restaurant wasn’t open during our visit so I can’t comment on that but our host gave us good recommendations for local restaurants 👍

Last minute staycation

We stayed here as a couple for a last minute break. The rooms and hotel are spotless and very comfortable. The rooms are a great size with every amenity needed. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. The best part of our stay was host and owner John. He made our stay extremely comfortable and goes over and beyond. Thank you John, we will be back. K&J.

Lovely stay

Lovely welcome, gorgeous room, lovely surroundings. The restaurant at the hotel wasn't open due to Covid but Castlederg centre is delightful with a couple of takeaways available. Castlederg park is worth a visit and walk around to see the castle.

A wonderful stay in a beautiful house, with John our host, who was so nice to talk to and who could not have been more friendly or helpful.
Our room was spacious and comfortable with a breakfast selection of many options, looking forward to returning.

Excellent, look no further.

“My fiancé and I” stayed for only one night of passion here on what was the first day of our whistle stop Ireland and Scotland motorbike tour.

After we disembarked the ferry at Dublin, we rode towards Northern Ireland, through beautiful countryside and were greeted with the warmest of welcomes by John, the owner of this idyllic guest house. 

Set in large grounds with some balcony rooms overlooking playing fields to vast greenery beyond and only a short walk into the quaint local village of Castlederg, the room and en suite were clean and grandly decorated with the most comfortable bed. Fresh milk was so nice to have by the kettle with a restorative cup of tea post our journey and whilst getting ready to hit the town.

John, bless his heart, gave us a lift into the village that evening, where we tried to get a late meal. Unfortunately we were coming up to last orders and so landlady and head chef sisters Olga and Jayne of the local pub The Derg Arms served us drinks, provided us with cutlery and shared knowledge of best place on the high street to order a quick Chinese takeaway, which we then ate sat out in the warmth of their bonny beer garden. 

Such friendly and accommodating people who also have guest rooms above the pub, which was full of Irish characters, many of whom we were introduced to and helped us to plan our onward journey for the following day out on the bike heading to the coast.

Next morning, back at the guest house, John kindly gave us a gentle door knock wake up call reminder that a hearty breakfast awaited us downstairs in the restaurant. There is also a spacious well stocked bar, which contained large leather armchairs and a pool table. Potato bread added that Irish touch to a delicious full breakfast before we headed off onto day two of our adventure. 

I would highly recommend this place and we agreed a revisit was likely perhaps as a larger group of bikers on tour in the future.
