Second time we've stayed here. We were going on a steam train Christmas lunch, and this B&B is within touching distance of Grosmont Station. Comfy bed. Good shower. Excellent breakfast. Very much worth a visit if you're in the area. Would certainly return.

Second Visit

Stayed for 2 nights while experiencing lunch on NYMR train. Welcome from Selma was so lovely. B and B is spotless and very homely. 
We Stayed in the Bridgestones room. It had a Massive king size bed and huge en-suite and double shower. Breakfasts were freshly cooked and amazing with lots of choices. Fresh milk for the room was available in a small fridge for making drinks. Little touches that made all the difference. Three minutes walk if that to Grosmont  train station. 
Plenty of parking spaces and free WiFi. 
Would definitely recommend and will return again for our next train trip. 
Also good location for staying and touring to Whitby or Goatland or Pickering. 

Fantastic bed and breakfast by train line for nymr visits

A unique and magical place to stay which fulfilled all expectations and gave a cracking start to my 70th birthday (December) celebrations. 
Chosen initially due to its track-side location for our NYMR Autumn Outlander steam train ride/silver service lunch, we quickly realised we’d found a rather special gem set in lovely gardens.
Our top-notch, ‘Bridgestones’ super-king room with fabulous en suite shower was just a staircase above the stylish, beamed, dining/ breakfast room where wonderful breakfasts were served at beautifully set tables.
Thank you Selma & Chris for your warm hospitality. This is how to do it!

Super 2 night stay

Just had a 2 night stay at Grosmont House B&B for my 60th birthday, Chris & Selma are lovely people & are very welcoming, the place is spotless, our room was the Bridestone what a lovely room with a massive comfortable bed and a fantastic bathroom en suite. The breakfast is all top knotch & the  attention to detail is fantastic, also the lady who Chris & Selma have working for them is very polite & nothing is too much trouble for her, me & my wife really enjoyed our stay at Grosmont House & will return in the future thank you Selma & Chris for making our stay with you special . Absolutely Fantastic B&B 

Stayed here for 2 nights. Parking easy and plenty of it. A friendly welcome from Chris and check in was easy. Room lovely, overlooking NYMR. Breakfast was a delight and freshly cooked by Selma. Overall a really nice place to spend a couple of days. Would hope to return.

A lovely stay

A return visit but this time to the one-bedroomed apartment. The location is perfect for a get-away in the Yorkshire moors, tucked away in the hillside just up from Grosmont Station.  The hosts are extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful and the apartment was cosy, well-furnished and comfortable.  As with the B & B bedrooms, the whole building has character and a peaceful atmosphere.  The apartment was clean and ready on arrival.  There is a small car park for residents and a garden where you can sit and enjoy a summer evening supper or just soaking up the surroundings.  It is worth noting that the apartment can only be accessed via a metal staircase (similar to an emergency exit staircase) and is quite high above ground level for those nervous of heights.  Looking forward to our next stay. :-)

Return Visit - self-catering this time

Stayed 2 nights in early July 2023. We were attending an event on NYMR, which is virtually within touching distance of the B&B. Very comfortable room, Very clean. Fresh milk available for in room drinks. Excellent breakfast. Onsite parking is a bonus. We've booked again for another NYMR event in December.

Very Enjoyable

A great place to stay to explore the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and surrounding area. Grosmont station is a short walk from the B&B so it is easy to travel anywhere along the line from Whitby to Pickering. 

We stayed in North Star Apartment. It was clean and comfortable and had all we needed for a two night stay. 

Happy to recommend.

A great place to stay close to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway

Have delayed writing this review due to mixed feelings. We travelled up from Cambridgeshire specifically to travel on the Sir Nigel Gresley. However  We had arrived too early but parked in car park looking to find proprietor to see if we could park there until check in, only to find they were in the garden and the first words were your early, we said yes we know but could we park and would be back later. Upon check in we were showed to the Bridestone suite the room was very spacious however the fireplace was not as secure as it could be. The chairs were stained and so was the headboard we understand a lot of the furniture is vintage or old but seeing where past people’s heads have rested on the headboard is not good. Also the wardrobe had handles missing and was quite difficult to open. The en-suite on first look is amazing until you really notice that the velux window isn’t even finished of properly as there are gaps around the frame. The towel radiator leaked in the mornings. The plug didn’t fit properly in the sink so when my husband had a wet shave the water didn’t stay in the sink. Bed itself was clean and comfy but do not expect it to be made for you or the towels to be changed (cannot keep using COVID as excuse as all restrictions were lifted by October 2022). Now to the reason for my mixed feelings, dinning room phenomenal however they cannot cook eggs at all we had three types of eggs in the three days we stayed none were to our taste or standard we thought the food was a let down, only part we really enjoyed was the very tasty bread. Hence the feeling of this establishment being overpriced. Also our bank details were kept and payment was taken for our stay before we had time to even offer up payment. Hence sadly we would not return or recommend to our friends sorry.

Sadly mixed feelings

Fantastic long weekend.  We stayed in one of the holiday cottages.  Enormous, we could live there!  Steam trains passing 5 feet from our lounge window!  Had dinner en route to Pickering one evening, and a trip to Whitby the next day.  A must if you're a steam train enthusiast.  Lovely smiley hosts.
