The house its self was clean and warm. The views from every window belonged on post cards and paintings.
The sound of horses running free in a near by paddock...breath taking. If you like nature or just a chilled environment then this is the perfect place at a reasonable price.
The bonuses for me were the sauna and the fact I could bring my dog...so it was truly a family get away. 
My family and I plan to book again in the new year.

Perfect getaway for a family

Was booked as last minute, cheap but photos are old so didn’t give a correct representation. Set in nice area, lovely views & countryside. But is not a guesthouse is more like an air b & b no mention of being totally self catering & no owner on site. On balance was good say 7 -9 years ago but now neglected. Good self check in instructions but think booking.com misleading guests.If you know more info you could make a more informed choice. But served our purpose for now

Not as advertised

It's such a shame, the reviews suggest this place was once a great B&B, and with a bit of money it could be again; but it's not.

The property is advertised as sleeping 11, has 4 bedrooms, a shower room and a bathroom. 

The shower room is horrific. The smell of damp is overpowering and it is covered in black mould. That leaves one bath (no shower) for 11 people, but that's not the worst of your problems...

You can't all sit down. Whilst the photos do only show 6 chairs you might expect a cupboard with folding chairs, but there isn't. So if you're a large group you can't actually all eat together. Careful sitting down in the lounge too: the comfy chair is held together with duct tape and the coffee table is falling apart.

We had other minor problems too: only 3, forks, 1 glass, 6 plates and only 10 beds (sleeps 11). In fairness someone turned up within about an hour a mattress we could put on the floor and 6 cutlery sets. That still left us one fork short so we couldn't all eat together, but then again we couldn't all sit down together....

The "for sale" sign out the front suggests the owners have given up on it. Maybe they haven't, but it feels that way.

One to avoid

Surroundings are nice and peaceful, but when I stayed at this place it really needed some work done. A note on the television set said that it had broken and that it would be fixed "tomorrow" - this note remained during the entire five-night stay. Bed was of really poor quality and wifi did not work. Broken light bulbs in the bath room.

Poor experience

We stayed here for a few nights , however upon arrival we were informed there was no heating or hot water . The kitchen tap was very loose,  and under the sink bowls were placed to collect the leaking water, this needs repairing as it’s very dirty under the cupboard. The kitten is advertised as able to cook, however the oven has all symbols rubbed off, and the bottom oven didn’t work, dishwasher was provided but no tablets. So with no hot water we were unable to wash up. The light in our bedroom didn’t work, and the second night when the heating worked out radiator could not be turned off leaving one room hotter than the Sauna. The under waterproof sheet on my bed was ripped, and mould was clearly visible along the wall where my bed was. 

There were squashed spiders left on the wall, and the floors felt very sticky. I feel a through deep clean is needed, removing cobwebs and the rubbish on the top of windows. Blinds for the downstairs bedroom as you are woke upas soon as sunrises due to the light streaming straight through the windows. 

Overal. A tad underwhelming, and a good cleaning regime and fixing off small things, but important would be an improvement. 


Average visit- cleaning and few upgrades are needed. 

We stayed at the Shelley Guest House as a large group for a celebration and the house was fabulous. It was the ideal location being near enough to Aberystwyth but tucked away with nice surroundings. The Sauna was great and everything was clean and tidy with plenty of space for everyone. Garden would be lovely in the summer and we would most certainly return. Very accommodating owners who were helpful in ensuring that our night away ran smoothly.

We've just had a lovely week here renting the house to ourselves, feels secluded but only 5 minutes to town, supermarkets and beach and harbour.  Plenty of room in all the bedrooms with everything you could need.  Sauna was a lovely addition. Lovely open plan downstairs so everyone was together for family holiday and dogs loved their time as well.

Lovely hide away

I stayed here the weekend of the 22nd July with 5 friends for my hen do. We all absolutely loved staying over at Shelley Guest house. It is 5 minute drive from Aberystwyth Town centre and is a very cosy place to stay.There is plenty of room for large groups and the beds were very clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay again.
