We recently stayed for 3 nights for our wedding anniversary and had a lovely time. We can't fault anything and Melanie and Rob were so friendly throughout and helpful from booking to departure. Melanie gave lots of suggestions for day trips and places to eat and made lovely homemade treats! They also gave us a bottle of wine for our anniversary. The view from the dining room is lovely to look out at whilst eating breakfast and it's in a great location to explore Northumberland. We'd definitely recommend and would return!

Anniversary stay

This is by far the best B&B we have ever stayed in, Melanie & Rob are so friendly & welcoming, nothing was ever too much for them - they are fabulous hosts. The location was perfect as we were travelling around to see many different places during the day (Bamburgh, Alnwick, Lindisfarne, Chillingham). The room was lovely, comfortable & spotlessly clean, it had everything we could have needed. Melanie's lemon dirzzle cake and fairy buns were absolutely delicious and you will not be disappointed with the breakfast, it was cooked to perfection and there was so much choice. Rob & Melanie were always helpful and will give you plenty advice about where to see and where to eat. 

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would, we had such an enjoyable break and we will definitely be back as soon as we can. Thank you both so much! 

Exceptional Stay, Wonderful B&B

This place is absolutely brilliant and cannot be faulted. It’s location was ideal for us with Alnwick, Lindisfarne, and Berwick all being very close.

You are treated like royalty as soon as you arrive, and that level of service continues throughout your stay. The rooms are amazing,spotlessly clean, and in turn you then feel Covid secure. The shower is very good and again spotlessly clean. The dining room has great views, again is spotlessly clean, and only adds to the pleasure of eating the breakfast.

Mel’s cakes, and breakfasts are a delight to eat.

Both Mel and Rob are perfect hosts with nothing been too much trouble. If you tell Mel where you are going for that day, she will give you inside tips of where to go, and park etc. 

I would recommend to anyone visiting Northumberland to stay here.

Just returned from a 4 night stay , what can I say that hasn’t already been said amazing place to stay .Breakfast was brilliant so much choice and omg Mels cakes were to die for . Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome will definitely be back .

Fabulous stay

Stayed 2 nights at Old Stone in Wandylaw. Very impressive first impression as we drove up the lane to the property,  dodging the pheasants and partridge! Rob & Mel really great hosts, so informative & interesting to chat to. We had the Balmain room, parking immediately outside the bedroom door. Compact modern room with every need catered for. My wife, especially loved the little touch of having homemade cakes in our room on each day's return. Breakfast plentiful & outstanding quality. All in all , a great place to stay on our first visit to wonderful Northumberland. 

Excellent 

Treated like VIPs from the minute we arrived, we couldn't have asked for more, from the gorgeous fluffy towels to the chocolate by the pillow and the daily slice of delicious home made cake, every possible need has been thought of and catered for. We could not recommend Melanie and Rob and their Old Stone Bed and Breakfast any more highly.  We will definitely be going back and I cannot wait!

An idyllic getaway

Stayed for 3 nights and what an amazing time we had. Melanie and Rob couldn’t do enough for us, spotlessly clean, beautiful breakfasts each morning, rooms furnished to a high standard, attention to detail first class. Can’t wait to return.

If Carlsberg did B&B!

Melanie and Rob couldn't have been more pleasant, welcoming and helpful. The room was comfortable and spacious, with a splendidly large bed. And a great shower! And the breakfasts were a thing of great beauty... And the view from the dining room features the Farne Islands and Bamburgh Castle. Just avoid the daft partridges on the approach road... 

Splendid place

You won't find a better place to stay in Northumberland than here. A superb rural location ideal for Alnwick, Bamburgh and Holy Island. The accomodation is very plush for the price featuring a spacious comfortable room with a firm bed and a lovely gentle shower. Melanie and Rob the owners are so welcoming and you immediately feel like you are staying with friends. We had an excellent breakfast and Melanie even provides home made cakes as a welcome extra. All the other reviews are the same so I would highly recommend staying at the Old Stone.
