Had a fab 2 weeks here, lovely holiday, site was nice, clean & peaceful, stunning views & spacious lodge with hot tub. Enjoyed some great days out in surrounding areas including cheddar gorge, Wookey hole, helicopter museum, Weston-super-Mare. Food was lovely, would recommend

Family holiday

Unfortunately I can not recommend this site at all. Customer service was not good. We had a number of issues whilst we were away and they were not dealt with. I have written a complaint letter & am awaiting a reply. Lodge looked nice on the surface but on closer inspection had terrible marks and stains on sofas/chairs and carpets. Also things not working in it such as the tvs. The swimming pool was always full so you couldn't go in. Service in the restaurant was not good. Sadly we would not return here. 

 A couple of positives to end a bad review. Hot tub was great in the accommodation and 2 male members of staff, 1 behind the bar and 1 in the swimming were very nice.

Very Disappointing

Fantastic staff, especially Tanya, who couldnt be more lovely, thank you for making our stay a wonderful experience right from check in. The lodges are clean and modern, the pool is nice but can get busy, the restaurant menu is limited but decent quality, will come again

Excellent service

This was sadly one of the worst experiences at a holiday resort we've ever had. We've camped in tents with better customer services than this place.
Firstly, we checked in at 4pm to be told that the hot tub was still being filled and wouldn't be up to temperature until 7pm, this was ok as we were going out into Cheddar. We arrived back at 7pm to find the hose had been left in the hot tub with water spewing all over the decking. This being the first issue. Secondly, on dipping our toes in the hot tub, we found it to be a scorching 42.5 degree's, needless to say we couldn't go in it anyway due to the shower not working either, this wasn't fixed until Tuesday at 4pm by Tony who was a very lovely guy.
We made our complaints about rude and sarcastic night wardens and Mandy (who was far to busy to log our broken shower) to Linda who was extremely apologetic about her rude staff and the faulty amenities.

We were very much looking forward to our stay as we had paid a lot of money for it and it being a special anniversary. 
Sadly, we will not be recommending you or staying again.

Worst experience by far

Last minute booking for a week away at the start of the summer holidays via Hoseasons who we've used many many times before. Booked a Cheddar Premier Lodge which meant it had a hot tub.

Did notice that a few days after we booked, the same lodge was coming up at £150 cheaper than we paid so something to keep an eye on if you're booking last minute as we did. We usually book much further in advance so don't keep such an eye on the fluctuating prices.

Arrival & check in was smooth. Car Reg is taken which then lets you in via the barrier but we did find this to be temperamental at points and had to buzz to be let in. We had a grocery delivery booked to come to the lodge and staff were happy for them to be buzzed in and drive right to the lodge which is convenient.

Our lodge was very very close to the car park/central facilities & we weren't sure about this to start, but actually we barely noticed the coming & going of people & everything is closed by 10pm anyway.

Lodge itself was nice. Living area was nice & the bedrooms were spacious, especially the kids' twin room. Bathrooms were small & pretty tired. Lots of water damage & damp and the shower screen on the main bathroom did little to stop water escaping, so we had 4 people using the en-suite shower for the week. Shower itself was powerful.

Kitchen had a dishwasher and a washing machine which with kids or on a longer stay  is a handy addition. Cooking equipment was basic...knives for example were absolutely useless, but we managed for some basic meals.

Outside area was lovely with a large table & chairs, bbq stand and the hot tub. The hot tub was clean and was checked during our stay usually first thing in the morning before we were up & wanting to use it which was helpful. Only downside was that after 4-5 days the water level was quite low and wasn't topped up during routine checks...with the best will in the world our 10 & 12 year olds did splash about which was probably the cause but a top up would have been good. We didn't manage to catch the person checking the hot tub or I'm sure we could have asked.

The facilities on site were fine. We didn't plan to stay on site during the days, so only used the pool once but it was clean and well staffed with lifeguards. The bar area was nice & the staff friendly. We only ate in the restaurant once and it was ok, but there are better options locally for the same price point. The grounds overall seemed really clean and well maintained.

We had days out to Cheddar, Glastonbury/Wells, Beach day at Weston Super Mare & the kids choices of Brean Theme park & Noahs Ark Zoo. Lots to do in the immediate area and within 30mins or so.

Overall a lovely week, helped by 7 days of glorious weather!

Lovely week away

We booked this as a family of 14 to be away for the New Year, not knowing what to expect. We were in 3 different log cabins, the cabins were amazing, fitted with brand new cooker, hob, kettle, toaster and everything else and they were spotless. There was a TV in the lounge and another one in the bedroom, the bed was very comfortable and we slept well. To our surprise, there was a shower and a bath in a really nice bathroom. The decor was modern and the view from our cabin was spectacular. We had a hot tub, however, because of the weather we were unable to use it. There was also a terrace to sit out on and a garden with a barbecue. We walked down to the bistro one day and had a lovely ham and cheese omelette with fries and salad. Here again, the staff were extremely friendly and attentive and I have to say I was very impressed by the whole set up. The only down side was the weather as it rained every day, however, obviously the site has no control over this. All in all, I think this is an amazing site and would be well worth a summer visit. Thank you Cheddar Woods, this traveller was very impressed. It's a definite 10/10 from me. 

Cheddar Woods family stay 30/1/23-3/1/24

Visited 27th Dec for three nights. A great place for a short stay. Swimming pool , ten pin bowling and pool tables kept the kids happy. Bistro food was good quality and quantity. The caravan was very well equipped....including washer/dryer, dishwasher, bath. Stayed in mendip premier 177.  On arrival it seemed very clean but after a day we realized the floor was covered in dog hair....it was all over the kids clothes. Same colour as the carpet so not immediately obvious at first. When I swept the hard floor in kitchen area i picked up a lot of dog hair. The floor hadn't been touched cleaning wise before we got there. Normally there js a carpet sweeper but we didn't have one so enquired at reception. The lady was perfectly nice and said she would send a hoover up to our caravan ( I do think an apology would have been appropriate) when we returned to our lodge a hoover had been left....I thought it was a bit cheeky to expect us to clean the dog hair! Anyway I wasn't that bothered until I turned on the hoover....oh my goodness....the smell was absolutely horrendous....it honestly spelt like there was a dead dog in the hoover....I can not understand how someone has used that hoover and just ignored it, let alone give it to a customer to use. We were only there for two days so we just let it slide but if we were there for longer I would have pursued it, asked for a different hoover or expected to move lodges. In saying all that I would still recommend it as place to go for a short break at Christmas....its a nice clean site, not masses of bells and whistles but great if you just want to chill for a couple of days. The hot tub we had was also lovely! Please please sort out the cleaning of the lodges!! The dog hair situation was grim, the rest of the lodge was generally clean although lacking in attention to detail,  eg shelves, skirtings and minor areas not cleaned. The water activities for the kids were good....book in advance! 

Great but dog hair disaster!

We stayed for Christmas in three lodges and had a wonderful time. The kitchens were well equipped and the rooms were warm. The beds and pillows were very comfortable with nice cotton linen. The hot tub was well maintained and checked daily. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We would definitely book again.

An Excellent Family Christmas Break.

Everything we need for a Christmas breakaway. Our 2nd year and it won't be our last. Great lodges, everything we need, clean, comfortable, spacious, full kitchen, multiple bathrooms, stylish decor, great heating, privacy, onsite services (if you want them). Cannot ask for more. Thank you.

Christmas Holiday

Have stayed at this resort 4-5 times usually without any issues however last year we had issues with the hot tub and this year again sadly the same 

The lodge was ok and clean but Cheddar no longer supply spa gowns which were a nice little extra when paying more for a hot tub

We arrived after 5 and were going to use the hot tub around 7 however when we went to check it wasn’t up to temp - around 33/34 c which in late November was too cold to use 

We called maintenance who came to check it and said yes it wasn’t to temp and to leave it for another hour it would be 

By 9pm it was still tok cold to use 

We checked it Saturday morning - still not up to temp so we complained at reception and they said they would someone to check it again

When we returned to the lodge at 4pm finally it was ready to use 
However by Sunday no one had checked the tub and it was again too cold to use so something clearly wrong with them them

The dvd wire was also not working Friday night but that was dealt with as sorted by Saturday 

I wrote a complaint letter on or return as I feel if you are paying extra for a hot tub and that doesn’t work you should be refunded the difference 

The response I got was awful - calling me a liar saying we had used the tub and that was why the temp dropped also that maintenance had checked the tub and it was at 36/37 degrees on the Friday so they were not sure what we were complaining about 
Blatant lies as the maintenance man said on Friday it wasn’t hot enough and to wait a few more hours 

I don’t appreciate being called a liar and I don’t appreciate paying for something that doesn’t work 

Don’t waste your hard earned money staying here there are plenty of other places in the surrounding area

The place has really gone down hill and the customer service or management is shocking 

We won’t be bringing our group here again
