Booked this guest house for a night away with my partner, we were greeted by a lovely lady who showed us to our room. My partner had booked a twin room, but noticing we were a couple she explained a double bed was available for us however there was a small renovation taking place in the bathroom. 

Rooms are lovely, very close to the city center. Such a warm welcoming place to be, would highly recommend coming here and we will be back soon! :) xx

Lovely owner

I recently stayed at Latymer House as I was attending a colleague's wedding in Chester. First of all, Louise, the host, was amazing and she really made this accommodation special. She was so welcoming and friendly and did her very best to ensure that my stay was as good as it could be. She got me an ironing board, and an iron when I asked for one and she checked I knew where to go and whether I had booked a taxi. 
The room itself was clean and adequate. The price was so cheap that I think you have to forgive the aged décor and appearance of the room. To be honest, the room could have done with a new television and a completely new bathroom - but as I said, for the price, you couldn't really argue. 
In the room there was tea making facilities - I had a couple of tea bags when I got there, but no coffee. I would have asked, but I was only there for one night, so it didn't really bother me that much.
When I checked out, I was sad to hear that Louise and co were closing in the next couple of weeks and knocking down the guest house! It's such a shame as she makes an excellent host and I thought her hospitality was fantastic.

Good for the Price

I had a great two night stay. The room and en-suite were clean, beds were comfortable, the location was ideal and above all else, the host (Louise) was fantastic. She couldn't be any more welcoming, warm, friendly and helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble and I dare you to find a more genuinely lovely host than Louise.

Friendly, pleasant and warm experience

Lovely hosts but accommodation in need of updating. Bed sounds like a drum roll when you turn over or move. Shower built for children(very small).Shower curtain sticks to you whilst showering and water pressure very poor. Hot tap trickles. TV very small. Having said all that linen and bedding very clean.

Basic and in need of an update

We were greeted with a lovely welcome from the owner, who seemed like such a lovely lady. We stopped over on a night out, so we weren't really in the room for too long. Room was an appropriate size, had kettle, along tea's and coffees etc, had a small tv, didn't have any shower products, a hair dryer, or a bin in the bathroom, did have plenty of hangers in the wardrobe so we were able to hang our outfits up. Overall a lovely stay and would stay again when back in Chester on a night out. Only downfall was, as we were coming in early hours we made sure  that we were quiet and did not disturb anyone else in the house, then about 10-15 minutes later after we had gotten into bed some people came back from what I assumed would have also been a night out, banging up and down the stairs, opening and closing their door several times, shouting to each other, and as we were next to them it was just a bit of a disappointment that the house was to be disturbed in that way when we were polite enough to make sure we weren't to disturb anyone.

Stayed here on a journey back from my father’s funeral in Scotland en-route home to Devon.
BASIC accommodation!!
Single room cold, broken window, bedside lamps broken and damaged( one didn’t even have a light bulb.
En- suite awful!!
Broken shower head( hanging loose) no attention to detail at all and no care taken whatsoever!
Paid £49 for night!
I would give room rating no more than 2 stars and that is being generous!
I personally own a guest house and if I were a owner of this guest house, I’d be ashamed!
It was lucky I wasn’t a hotel inspector coming to do an unofficial visit.
I took pictures of the room condition.
I stayed in another guest house in Chester a few days earlier!!
No comparison whatsoever!
Had they been able to accommodate me I would gladly have returned there instead

 the owner was very friendly and helpful.The room was warm and inviting. But it was lacking. Toilet paper. Hot water. There was no hot water from the sink taps and very little from the shower. The shower dials were coming away from the wall. There was poor water pressure. There were no bins in the room or sanitary bins in the en suite. The mattress on the bed needs replacing as it almost squashed flat. There were also food items left by other guests. If the owners took the time to check on these basics it would be a very good place to stay.
