The hotel is being used for homeless people. I booked a room for the 28th August (Bank Holiday Weekend) on hotels.com to find my booking had been cancelled when I went to check.

On trying to contact the venue all I got was an invalid number.

On seeing the reviews on here I knew that I was not going to be staying here.

Awful customer service from the hotel and hotels.com for not even calling or emailing to allow us to book somewhere else in a suitable time frame.

BOOKING CANCELLED DUE TO HOTEL BEING USED FOR HOMELESS!!!!

Was due to go on the 4th September for a wedding, booked through Hotels.com. Got a refund from Hotels.com for the booking but no email from the hotel. Been told this hotel is currently been used as a homeless shelter. Can not get another hotel on the date for less than £130 this originally cost me £45 . Not a happy chappie. Gave it 1 because you can’t give 0

Do not book this hotel

Booked in APRIL to stay the end of August for the Bank Holiday weekend, as Iv brought tickets to an event in Chester. June 29 at 20:30 I get an email saying the Belgrave habe cancelled my booking. No explanation why..... Just cancelled. Well thanks for that. Now I have to try and find somewhere else to stay. Whish me look to try and find somewhere on a summer Bank Holiday now. Really not happy!!

Total joke

Sadly I book April for the 26th of June and received an email to say they were cancelling the booking. Now I will not be able to attend my friend's wedding anniversary as everywhere else that is reasonably priced is fully booked. I wouldn't use the hotel ever again as it's left me in an awful predicament. But I suppose to get what I tried to pay and other people attending this event have had the same done to them.
     No reason for cancellation was given.

Belgrave hotel, Chester.

Hotel is operating as a homeless shelter, booked through lastminute.com paid £150 for 2 nights for a trip to Chester races the following day, was greeted by a lady I can only assume was high on drugs, a cloud of smoke and a strong smell of cannabis when she opened the door and also watched as 2 "homeless" people walked out and passed her some cash. She told us if we paid her £200 cash we could stay the 2 nights there !! told her I had paid online and would not be prepared to pay again especially for a homeless hostel, I would of rather of slept in the bus station for the night. We had to travel back to Liverpool and pay for trains again the following day. I was told by lastminute.com they would investigate and issue me a refund, spoke to them again this morning and was told they had been in contact with the hotel ( don't know how as they don't have a working phone number or emails address ) to be told the hotel apparently gave me a cash refund at the door. No one took my name or booking details. the whole situation is disgusting. Wouldn't want anyone else to experience this so please AVOID !!!!!!

Awful experience, avoid !!!

Booked on booking.com, received confirmation. Turned away at the door as they are not taking bookings as they are accommodating the homeless!!! Who knows why they are still on booking.com. 
Tried to ring prior to visiting, phone not in order, no response to email. 
Thankfully found another room last minute. I feel sorry for the people who are not phone and booking savvy as they would have been sleeping in their car!!!

Don’t book at the moment!!

Staff lovely and very welcoming. We had a double room with twin beds which were very comfortable it was basic but clean with tea and coffee making facilities and tv. Reading past reviews were abit worrying but we always form our own opinions of places and in this case we totally disagreed with them . I do say if you want 5 star privileges then pay 5 star prices! We had a very enjoyable stay and would stay again thank you!

Lovely stay

Reception staff were lovely! By all means the downstairs area was good, coffee and tea making fertility in the coffee room, bar looked nice. Then there’s the actual room we stayed in. Bathroom was not what it states on the images when booking, tiny little bathroom just enough room to turn around in. We found hairs in the bathroom when we first arrived, mould on the wall, shower was appalling. Couldn’t get hot water, the heater wasn’t working so we were freezing ! Windows were faulty, we found silverfish in the shower! (Pic is below) Carpets hadn’t been hoovered as we found food under the bed. Cabinets were dirty and the smell was horrendous!!! Maintenance tried walking in the room at 10am the first night, obviously to do her job but if we hadn’t put the latch on the door she could’ve walked right in, didn’t knock or anything. At first  I didn’t know who tried entering until we left the room and she asked if we needed anything. No one told us what time maintenance would come around. The shower wasn’t cleaned, half used toilet roll was left on top of the toilet. I would’ve expected them to be fresh new rolls considering COVID-19, never mind assuring everywhere was clean. We considered re booking until we saw the state of the room. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone....

Double economy room - never again!!!

I paid eighty pounds for the pleasure of the Belgrave Hotel,desk staff perfect, but please don't be fooled, the accomodation is a disgrace,to anyone who takes the time to read this, don't stop there it's not a joke.

This has got to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff were lovely and it must be very embarrassing for them to send people to these rooms! As soon as we walked in we were hit by the most awful smell and had to go out and buy an extra strong air freshener to mask the odour! The window in the bathroom was broken so it was permanently open and looked like it had never been cleaned ( see photo). I could not bring myself to have a shower as the plug hole looked filthy and round about there was mould. The ceiling in the bathroom has damp. There was something brown and disgusting on the carpet. A fly flew out of the sink when my daughter was cleaning her teeth. Neither my daughter or myself got any sleep because there was constant noise of people walking up and down the corridors in the night and also because of the noise of traffic through the open bathroom window. We paid £80 for this room and you couldn’t pay me any amount of money to stay there again!
