Very much the authentic B&B experience here. Most will love it a few may not but it worked for us on a flying visit to Chester.

The landlady is polite and helpful, the procedures clearly well practiced over the years and the guest house spotlessly clean. The breakfast was good. There is safe on site parking. What’s not to like?

The decor is indeed a little dated and flowery, and the room we had was a little small but no problems.

If I was to have a minor grumble it would be having to pay by cheque or cash. This is a bit unhelpful these days when both those payment methods are in rapid decline and less useful to customers than proprietors.

Green gables price is quite close to that off the budget hotels so I guess breakfast and location is why I chose it.

Traditional B&B

We stayed here for 2 nights. What a great find. 
The owner was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Free on site parking was excellent. It was in a very quiet residential neighbourhood and was no more than a 15 minute easy walk to the city walls at Northgate. 
The room was large and very comfortable and was serviced daily unlike some we have stayed at. The cleanliness throughout was superb. 
Breakfast was cooked to order and was superb. 
A very relaxing and comfortable stay and we would definitely stay here again

Excellent b&b

Great location, quiet area but only 10 minutes walk into the walled city. Slightly dated but very clean room which was nicely presented. Only stayed 1 night but very enjoyable, great breakfast, no frills but served in a clean fresh looking dinning room. Friendly owner, good parking. As a B&B owner myself I know what it takes to offer this standard at a sensible tariff, sorry I was only staying 1 night. Would definitely stay again (hopefully for longer) the next time I need to visit Chester. Constructive criticism - Official website should be updated/renewed, but this did not retraced from a very enjoyable stay.

Clean no frills stay, great location.

The landlady is lovely. Always there if needed but gives you your space too. Its one of the best nights sleep I've ever had. The breakfast area is decorated splendidly and the breakfast is superb.beautifully kept garden. I can't fault this guest house.

Anniversary weekend

We highly recommend this guest house.  Nice garden and free parking. 

We had a warm welcome and a lovely home cooked breakfast of our choice. 

We were given a slightly better room with en-suite.  The room was well- maintained and very clean. 

Good position for local restaurants eg Chinese and Hungry Horse. 

10 minutes drive to the Zoo. 

Excellent 

Very comfortable, well equipped and clean bedroom with a modern en-suite. Light and airy breakfast room complemented by excellent food. Safe and secure off-road parking. Proprietor was friendly and helpful.

Potential guests should be aware that the property is some 20 minutes or so walk into Chester town centre but it's all on the flat and wasn't a problem for us (70 years old). However, if you have mobility issues, there are 'bus stops a couple of minutes walk away on Liverpool Road and some services will take you into Chester centre.

Relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable

Really lovely place about 15 minutes walk to the city centre.

Very clean and comfortable. Welcoming and friendly host and a lovely full English breakfast. Away from the main noise of the city but very close by if you need it. Would visit again.

Last minute booking - and pleased I stayed

Travelled with my grandchildren and spent three nights here at Green Gables.  A very kind and warm welcome, a spacious, comfortable, and charming family room.  Pretty garden;  loved the flowers.  Easy parking onsite.  All very well cared for, spotlessly clean, and quiet.  Lovely breakfast in a bright pretty room.  Bus runs close by on the main road, a minute's walk away.   A few minutes to Chester centre and to the amazing Chester Zoo.  I have hesitated writing a review as I would always like to find a room here when we return!  I think my grandchildren will insist upon a return to Green Gables whenever we return to England. This was their first trip to England, and they will never forget Green Gables.  We stayed in a couple of B&Bs in different towns after this, but this is the place they will remember.  A huge thank you to the host

Loved it!

We spent one night in this lovely quaint bed and breakfast. The host was lovely and friendly and made us feel very welcome. Our room on the first floor was pleasant and very clean and comfortable. We slept very well. It was also an added bonus to have secure parking. Breakfast was lovely, juice, cereal, fruit, toast and a full English. Excellent value for money. When we come back to Chester we will stay again. 

First time in Chester

We had a pleasant stay here.  Breakfast was excellent.  Easy secure parking included was a bonus, and the walk to Northgate and the City Centre was only about a mile (only 200 yards to the bus stop though), which was a nice walk in.  We enjoyed our brief stay here
