We booked a room for one night with breakfast.  Fabulous gardens, vistas, walks, cafe, shop, peace.  The staff are all professional and lovely.  So much to enjoy in the main house.  Lovely evening meal and breakfast.  Great bar.  No TV in room - excellent!   We will be back to enjoy a short course or two.  A haven for learning. 

Joyous

I attended a weekend art course and stayed here. The course was excellent, facilities for students all very good. The College is in a stunning location with amazing grounds to relax in. My room was in the manor house, I think it must have been a superior as it was very large, clean, quiet and perfectly acceptable, apart from an ultra-hard mattress which meant I couldn't sleep.

For me the food was a real letdown. School-canteen style. Tutors emphasied we should rush to get in line first otherwise food would be cold. I am a vegetarian and while they did cater for that I had the same dish at lunch and served up again in the evening. Had I had to pay extra for it (included for students) I would have been upset.

I would definitely attend a course again but would find somewhere else to stay. 

An good experience but let down by food

We had one night with my husband here,number 28 was really dusty and dirty,bed was terrible(dirty linen with make up stains and hair)
1 star hotel!Poor hygiene place 
I don’t recommend West Dean college of Arts!

It was horrible experience

I've attended five courses in all over the years, a painting course in June 2023 being the latest. I've enjoyed every one and learned a lot. The house is a great place to study and relax. The canteen serves excellent food and as the weather was warm and sunny we sat outside in the courtyard. There is a nice warm swimming pool hidden away for students to use.

Great college

Such a wonderful overnight stay in this beautiful place in wonderful grounds.
Rolling hills surround West Dean College, with sheep and lambs wandering on the front lawn. I was able to wander the grounds and the walled garden which was astounding.
The greenhouses were full of colourful flowers and the lawns covered with daffodils, the sunken garden was a delight as was the arched pathway by the orangery.
Staff were so polite and helpful. 
Our room was clean, adequate and had a lovely shower with abundant hot water.
It was peaceful too.
The house itself was amazing, dating back to the late 1890's, with all the authentic furnishings and paintings. A trip back in time!
I feel priviliged to have been able to have stayed here.

What a place!

We stayed while being down for The Goodwood Friends Meeting!! What a treat!! This is like staying in a stately home. Amazing building. Great receptionists on arrival!! Fabulous room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the magnificent grounds. Huge room, huge bed and a fantastic bathroom, with a cool top bath and the biggest walk in shower I have ever seen! Beutiful and clean. My partner said it is like Brideshead Revisited. It is !!! Amazing!!!!!

Brideshead Revisited. 

Spent a couple of hours walking around.  Very enjoyable, and interesting.  Even though they are revamping some of the garden areas, it was enjoyable.  Nice little tearoom, bit basic, but friendly and good quality.
Haven't scored below, Tripadvisr thinks that this is a hotel!!!!!!!!!!
Needs to get it act together!!!!!!

Pleasant place to visit

Whilst booking a short course here I  was given a  choice of accommodation to choose from.  I received an email to say :YOUR'E IN - count down the days." - there was small print indicating the choice of room might not be available which I ignored thinking that the website would surely not offer and then clear charges for unavailable rooms. I booked flights and car hire. 
I was so surprised then, to receive an email to say there was no accommodation available - what a stupid system. Even though my accommodation was refunded I am out of pocket for my flight. 
Such unnecessary stress and upset which is the last thing I needed. Will avoid this place!

Be careful when booking

5/5 For some reason Tripadvisor app would not allow me to choose 5!!! Lovely stay. Beautiful grounds. Comfortable bed. Extremely quiet. Good breakfast and constant hot water in our room. Enough to have two full baths immediately after each other. Well worth the £108 we paid.

Beautiful setting

The gardens are really good and so very well kept that you would think this was a Horticultural College!  the building itself is amazing as you have never seen so much flint in one building.  All the joints had Galleting which must have taken some poor apprentice years to complete but what an incredible finish.
