We booked very last minute for a Group Birthday dinner.. They were very welcoming and managed to squeeze us in for the Hog Roast evening. We arrived too very friendly staff, which made the whole experience wonderful. We look forward to going back again this year.

Welcoming local Pub

Stunning hotel with fabulous history and loads of charm situated in lovely Cotswold village that has ample parking. 

Bedrooms all tastefully decorated with super comfy beds and high end bed linens. 

Andrew and his Wife Ann Marie are excellent hosts and are supported by a first class team of staff.  Locals from the village pop in to use the bar in evenings which gives the place a nice buzz/ambiance. 

Cooked breakfasts are all freshly cooked to order and use locally sourced produce.  Sunday lunch was probably one of the best we’d ever had so would highly recommend

Great stay in a very charming hotel

We stayed on the night of 18th Feb. We had no problems from start to finish. 

It was my partner's and I's first night away by ourselves for a few years and the 24 hours we spent at the Shaven Crown made it really special. Jerry and the staff made us very welcome, nothing was to much trouble and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. The room was lovely and the hotel itself was really in keeping with Cotswolds.

In short we would definitely recommend and we hope to stay again in the not to distant future.

A cracking stay in the Cotswolds

We booked the hotel for a BIG family birthday in early January. From the outset Jerry and Rik could not have been more helpful. They wanted to ensure the celebrations went to our satisfaction and worked hard making sure everything was simply fantastic. Rik’s cooking is amazing- every meal was outstanding, being cooked to perfection and served with style by Julie. We stayed for two nights and had a celebration lunch on the following day. All our guests dietary needs were looked after without any fuss, with compliments all round for the quality (and plentiful portions) of the food. The rooms are comfortable although the bathrooms could do with updating. Overall we could not have found a better place for our celebrations. Thank you Jerry and Rik.

A fantastic place to celebrate with the family with superb food

We had booked a last minute stay for NYE and we were really impressed by the cleanliness and size of the room. Bathroom was a little dated but nothing too bad. What we were really amazed by was the chef went out of his way to source us the most amazing vegan breakfast. I called up two days prior and asked if they could do us a vegan breakfast to which they said they definitely could. He arranged vegan bacon, vegan sausages, even vegan halloumi. When we arrived for breakfast they had already set a high chair out for our daughter - its those little things that go along way! They had oat and soya milk and home made vegan mince pies too! It was brilliant. Staff were super friendly and polite and went out of their way to make our stay really lovely.

Above and beyond - great vegan food

Absolutely loved this place from the minute we walked through the door. Gerry, the manager, was attentive, friendly and accommodating. Rik, the chef, is an extraordinary talent serving up some delicious food. The atmosphere and ambience was spot on. The room was lovely and the hotel was homely and very quaint.

The most perfect place to stay in the Cotswolds.

We spent three nights at the Shaven Crown and were looked after superbly by Jerry and Rik. They made us very welcome and ensured we had everything we needed.  Rik's cooking was absolutely amazing and always delicious and beautifully presented. Our room was comfortable and quiet, and Jerry ensured we had a table by the fire in the bar so we were warm and cosy. We would recommend the location for exploring the Cotswolds and would definitely return if we go that way again.

We loved this charming old inn. The manager Jerry was very attentive and easy going. The chef, Rik serves breakfast and dinner with best meals. The rooms and bathrooms are well equipped, especially considering it’s 700 years old! It is a great location to explore the Cotswolds. The village is beautiful and worth an explore too!

We loved everything about this charming inn.  The new manager Jerry will chat with you until you become a friend, Julie serves breakfast and dinner with so much love and Rik makes the best meals. The rooms and bathrooms are small but it's 700 years old and it has all the modern comforts in a great location to explore the Cotswolds. Next time we're back in England will definitely stay again. Breakfast was amazing and was included in our rate but also highly recommend eating dinner here. It was one of the best meals we've had in England. So good.
