Mouldy bathroom and bedroom walls very unhealthy. Arrogant entitled owner with nil customer service skills.. terrible pillows hard old bed.
Grossly overpriced pub food.
Nothing like pictures used to advertise.
One wonders about UK accreditation  for pubs ?…

Please don’t stay here

Nice Pub and B&B although rooms are noisy from the street as well as other guest rooms and the pub below. So if you want a quiet place or are noise sensitive it’s not your place. The furniture is English standard and rather dated. Service is good and mostly friendly, breakfast is also rather standard. If you don’t need to sleep exactly in this village there better options in the Cotswolds.

Okay if you want to stay in Shipton

The rooms are very basic and if you want to work at a desk on your laptop think again, the desk is for a brush and the chair or stool I had was so uncomfortable. Value for money absolutely not. I wouldn’t recommend this accommodation for the money. If you want a breakfast early forget it as it’s not served before 8am doesn’t say that on the advertisement.

We went to this pub for our wedding anniversary. The accommodation  and food were excellent. The staff were both polite and friendly and the service first class. Thank you all for a pleasant stay. We will certainly be returning. 

Excellent Stay

A hidden gem which impressed in terms of accommodation, service & staff.
Beautiful rooms (we had the 4 poster), lovely garden area with pizza oven.
You know it’s good when the locals use it too!
Outstanding breakfast of locally sourced produce & the most helpful staff who are happy to give suggestions of where/what to visit in the local area.
Will definitely come again!

5 star inn & service

Arrived after a day out at Cotswold Wildlife Park which isn't far from The Wychwood Inn.  The Inn was easy to find with Google Maps in a quiet area.  There is plenty of free parking on site.  The first impression upon arrival was amazing.  We were greeted by the staff which was a quick check-in and told all the information we needed to know.  The Inn's main building used to be a 15-century pub and this is still available to sit in.  There is another seating area inside with the bar nearby and even a lounge-style seating area at the front of the building.  Massive garden with plenty of covered and open seating with two egg chairs which added a nice touch.  The room we stayed in, Room 3 was exactly the same as the pictures and was even better than we expected.  The little touches made it extra special.  There is everything you would normally expect.  Even though we were on the road, there wasn't any noise and the property is kept tidy and clean.  Breakfast was presented with fruit, cereals, fruit compote, and cooked-to-order English breakfast or salmon for those who wanted it.  Nothing was out of reach when we wanted to swap breakfast items for something else.  Tea, coffee, apple, orange, and cranberry juice as well.  We didn't eat dinner, but the food looked amazing so worth a try.  The staff was amazing and couldn't fault.  We felt safe and looked after.  We visited Oxford a lot to go out which is about 40 minutes drive, but plenty to do near the Inn depending on your style.

An outstanding Inn in the beautiful Cotswold

Very nice clean pub and the food was very good, unfortunately after studying my bill I found a 10% service charge on everything, I accept some places charge for this on the food but when I’m going to the bar to get my own drinks I feel £5.25 a pint plus 10% is a bit of an insult.
So £5.77 for the privilege of paying on a tab and the payment made once at the end of the night.

The inn was full of character and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening there. The choice and standard of food for evening meal was excellent and the breakfast was superb.  
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. 
A particularly nice touch was the individual bottles of orange at breakfast and the small milk churns rather than cartons in the bedroom.
Would have no hesitation in recommending and in fact we already have.

Lovely night’s stay

We booked 4 days away and chose the Wychwood Inn based on reviews and location. The property has a lovely welcoming feel and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and our stay was very comfortable. The food is cooked fabulously and is well presented. We do not hesitate to recommend this lovely Inn and will happily stay here again.

Friendly & inviting

We really enjoyed our meal and the menu was varied + changes which is very welcome. The staff were very welcoming + friendly. 

Unfortunately we waited far too long for our main meal + after I politely enquired where our food was, it promptly appeared! 

I cannot fault our meals, I really enjoyed my chicken breast + my husband’s steak + ale was delicious.
