What a lovely place this is, the rooms are adorable and have a real quality factor. The food was scrumptious , fresh and tasty, the customer service was second to none and team members are a credit to the hotel. Members of staff were so friendly and helpful. 
Some really extra special touches made this visit a delight. 
Well done to this place , we will be back

Absolute gem if a place

After a recommendation, we visited the Bear on Saturdsy evening.
The food was good but the service poor. Staff were OK but not very welcoming.main meal did not come together for the six of us. It took 40 minutes for the pudding to come after ordering as reminding the staff of our wait with no apology.
Final bombshell was the 12.5% service charge on top of an expensive bill.
This was not hood value for money.
We will not recommend this hotel for evening meal

Poor service for evening meal.

The best dinner I have ever had ! Everything was perfectly cooked and presented with politeness and charm From the friendly greeting with glasses of Prosecco  to the fresh rose on the table through to an excellent scallops, black pudding and crushed peas and pickled shallots 1st course, Followed by the amazing Chateaubriand beautifully cooked, rare but not cold with Peppercorn and Bearnaise sauces, chips , confit garlic, charred shallot and smoked mushroom paired with an excellent red wine. Never normally having room for dessert I did choose the Delicious (but cold) custard tart with rhubarb sorbet.  Even then the menu included a hot drink and chocolate truffle.

Many congratulations. We will return.

Simply wow. What a fantastic experience from start to finish
 We felt totally spoilt. The complimentary gins are a fantastic touch and the happy hour for cocktails a winner. The staff are lovely..Alex was brilliant...he certainly knows his Gins and makes fab cocktails. The vegan breakfast was exceptional and our room..The Ringwood was so comfortable. We will be back
 

Fabulous stay

This hotel was exceptional, we loved our stay, beautiful room,friendly staff,fabulous breakfast and perfect location for The New Forest, the complimentary G&T's was a lovely gesture. We will definitely be back when we are in the area.

Perfect break

We were 14 sitting down on Boxing Day, the restaurant was super busy, and only the odd table was available. 
Being so busy I was expecting the meals to be slow but they were timely and all arrived together, brilliant. 
The service was exceptional. 
Any additional requests, extra roast potatoes, gravy etc was no problem and all served with a smile and friendly touch.
Of the 14 people, no one had a negative comment on the food which was cooked wonderfully well or the service. 
We all agreed, as a family, that this was a must return to in the future.

A great family experience...

Best weekend getaway! Location was amazing. It was really good, stayed in the suite, bath tub was epic. Room was very clean. Had dinner here too that was delish, breakfast was delicious too and the staff were amazing and absolutely lovely!!

Lovely

Went to the Bear for the first time for Sunday lunch. The food was absolutely gorgeous. So much choice on the menu and a great wine selection. We had 4 members of our family and three dogs. The seating is well positioned so that there is plenty of space around and not too many tables have been squeezed in. The service was exceptional. As well as the food being really good The Bear is really dog friendly. Fresh water bowls were provided on arrival and dog biscuits. If you want good food, good value for money and a real dog friendly venue then this is the place for you.

Wonderful lunch, great value

Excellent food. Surprisingly few diners at lunchtime on Saturday, but food was excellent with an expansive menu at reasonable prices. For a pub that seems to advertise itself based on its hotel credentials, it was a great choice for a lunch with friends!
Service was excellent too!
So, a good choice for a quiet lunchtime meet with friends!

Surprisingly good!

Yesterday i  telephoned to make a booking, Tania the manager (aka mumma bear as thats what she calls herself on the welcoming  entrance A board, and her staff are her "cubs" ) was very rude throughout the call, hurrying me and claiming that she could not hear me, she absoulutely just made no effort and talked over me time and time again, she has no patience and her telephone manner is appaling.
the Bear add 12.5% "service charge" to your bill, for service! but when i walk into a bar and no one is at the host booking in station, im not standing around waiting, queuing to then be told to sit down and then wait for drinks to be brought to me,so i went upto the bar and ordered 2 drinks, Tania watched me do this and  shot the lad serving me, (her cub remember!)) a look that i interpreted to be one of distaste, i think she expected him to tell me to go and wait patiently in the queue for her return to her bossy position.
i was told by the lad that table service was not available outside, and to order our food at the bar, no problem, when it was time, i  went to the bar and ordered our 2 starters, 2 roast lunches and 2 drinks, i was served by Tania this time and again felt her rudeness as she hurriedly asked me what drinks i would like before i could ask for a pot of gravy. i could feel her dislike of  me as i had escaped the 12.5% SERVICE charge.
So we eat the starters ( very nice indeed, both of them ) finish them and 15 mins later no one has cleared our plates,my girlfriend returned them to the bar.
20mins later, 2 cold sunday roasts appear, the potatoes just about luke warm, the meat cold, veg cold. I refused to eat or pay for the mains and was refunded in part. in my opinion, Tania gets very upset and bossy if you dont do the Bear "her" way, when she brought our mains out she just dumped them on the table behind me, no spoon for the starter, she made no effort to put them on our table at all, and will no doubt blame that on our two small whippets being in the way ( shes not a nice person to dogs, unlike Claire) all this attitude stems from the fact i wouldnt stand in line and wait for "mumma bear" to show me where she would ALLOW me to sit. Weve been a few times when shes off duty and it will be the only time we visit again, i shall phone ahead to ensure the coast is clear, or should i say Claire, as she is a very good host! sorry mumma bear, but you might boss the cubs about and not get a reposte, but you will not treat us like that and not get left a  review. Incidentally, i have had to remove my 5 star review of the bear, that Claire earned you back in september, as trip advisor will only allow a review every 3 months!
