We found the hostel staff helpful and friendly, and they had organised the rooms so that it suited us well as a family. The private rooms, and shared kitchen facilities were very clean and had everything we needed. There were even some games and puzzles available to entertain. We look forward to visiting again in the future.

The barrel store felt safe and secure. The communal area was clean and tidy and it was quiet too. Beds were fine and the lights and charging station was all very convenient. My second stay was as good as my first so I’d obviously recommend it as a great budget place to stay in Cirencester.

All good - lovely hostel

Clean, tidy spacious and friendly stay easy to book in and access the YH.  Comfy bed with plenty of space in the room to move around and store all my essentials.  Excellent shower and washbasin facilities.

Over night stop on cycling tour of the Cotswolds.

Really nice hosyel in Cirencester, great value for money. You have from individual rooms with private bathroom, to double rooms with bathroom or shared. I would highly recommend it. There's a kitchen which you can use to cook your own meals. Easy check out. 
The only bad thing is the fact that check out is at 10-10:30, where it's usually 11h.

Nice hostel in Cirencester

The manager made fun of my name, first racially and then implying that I was a tool.  He then criticised my vegetarian beliefs insisting that I "cook a roast".  The place was a YHA hostel which they hid and hence was neither hotel nor hostel.  The place was a bad conversion.  Shower that floods the entire room, heavy doors designed to bang shut and ceiling that make it sound like they are playing the drums above you.  Not that the staff care!

Fawlty towers

Two of us stayed for one night on a short cycling tour of the Cotswold area and it was perfect for our needs. Very helpful and friendly staff at the check-in. We had room 7 which was warm, clean and comfortable with towels provided. The room is basic, as you might expect for a YHA, with a double bed + single bunk above but with the bonus of an ensuite shower/WC. We made use of the very well equipped, clean and modern ground floor kitchen to prepare our dinner and breakfast. With the central location we were able to easily walk to the nearby Waitrose supermarket for our shopping and later in the evening around the town for a drink in the Crown Inn. We were able to store our bicycles in the special outside lock-up cycle stores, although were a bit surprised to learn there was an additional £5 cost for each of these as this wasn't mentioned on the YHA website when we booked, but worth paying for peace of mind. Overall an enjoyable stay and would recommend to any cyclist looking for an overnight in Cirencester, just make sure you pre-book your cycle storage.

Modern and comfortable hostel in the heart of Cirencester

The mattress was firm, and the room was clean and light. The shower was great, and I so enjoyed being able to make my own food and relax in the lovely kitchen and community room. Thank you, I will be back.

Impressive and convenient!

The Barrel Store is a great hostel in a convenient location. Check in and check out was easy. Communal space was clean and one felt comfortable using it. The rooms are small, beds decent - perfect for a one or two night stay. The bathrooms in the family rooms were a lot smaller than looked on the photo's and the way the shower is set up, the water runs to the toilet and almost out the door. They do have a sign saying to shower with the door closed and a mop type to bring the water back in but I really think they need to rethink the design. The communal bathrooms upstairs seemed to have the same issue however the space was a bit bigger.

I love supporting the YHA across the country. Simple but comfortable accommodation. Well-equipped kitchen. Friendly check-in. Very, very convenient for the town centre and car park very close. Highly recommend

Simple accommodation, well delivered. Excellent location

The Barrel Store was ideal for a family weekend. 20 of us from all corners of the country met and had exclusive use of the building. It is situated right in the middle of the fabulous Cotswold town of Cirencester. We loved it.
