Rude staff because our son has additional support needs . Disgraceful service and treatment . Shame on you . What a terrible way to treat anyone . We just tried to stop in for a coffee . Were told we told serve coffees

We have just had a lovely overnight stay at Glen Clova Hotel. We were in Rm 3 in the main hotel which was a very comfortable and spacious ensuite room nicely decorated in a Scottish Theme in keeping with the beautiful hotel surroundings. There is a nice cosy bar to relax in after a day of hiking and where they serve good meals. We had a very good Scottish cooked breakfast before we headed on another walk the following day.  It is a very friendly hotel with great service.

I stayed in the main hotel for two nights, as I had a plan to "bag" the Dreish and Mayar munros. The location is wonderfully convenient for getting to walks that start at Glen Doll. My plan was successful executed, despite the unseasonably hot weather. As a base for hillwalking, this place is fabulous. I hope to return some time and do some of the other walks. 

The location is like something from a fairy tale - utterly spectacular, and wonderfully remote. The road to get there is rather windy, and single-track. I love staying at places that feel as if they are in the middle of nowhere.

 I arrived later than expected, and was given a hearty welcome by the fabulous, friendly and extremely helpful Mhairi (pronounced "Vah-rie" - it's a celtic name). I was late for dinner but they were still able to feed me. 
The food was brilliant - excellent quality and delicious. The house wine was of a high standard too, unlike the "plonk" one gets at some places, which gives one a raging headache the next day! My head was clear! 
 One small piece of constructive criticism I will give here, is that the portions are absolutely massive, which is great for huge, burly, 6ft4 men, but perhaps a bit much for those of us who are smaller in stature, and this unfortunately leads to a lot of wastage. I would suggest that they offer smaller or half-size portions for some of the dishes. This not only avoids wastage of good food, but might also be profitable, as customers would then be more likely to order a starter or a dessert.
 The atmosphere in the restaurant is comfortable, informal and friendly, and I had some interesting conversations with people at nearby tables. This is always a highlight of solo travel.
 
The room I was in had a great view of the hills, a comfortable bed, and a wonderful, fancy shower with plenty of hot water (not that it was really needed - the weather was sweltering!). I managed to visit during a fairly quiet time, in between weddings, and I imagine the place could get quite noisy when there's an event like that. But what a glorious place to have a wedding!

I previously mentioned the fabulous Mhairi. The other staff were great too, but I just had more dealings with her than with the others.

Anyway, thanks for a great stay, and I hope to return one day! 



Excellent Midweek Munro Bagging Base

The location is stunning, the kirk a minute's walk from the hotel and the surroundings are straight from a post card. (bring midge repellent for the evening though)
The Steading rooms are large, clean and very comfy. The shower was great, very refreshing after an evening's ceilidh dancing or a mountain hike I imagine. Might go for one of the lodges next time, they look excellent and I'm told some have hot tubs outside.
The food was superb, easily as good as you would expect in a big city hotel restaurant. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Lovely wedding venue.

Stayed at this wonderful hotel for a wedding. On arrival we were treated like royalty, the staff were very attentive and friendly.

Our room was wonderful and cosy and very spacious and also very clean.

The grounds are beautiful and the function area for the wedding and the bar area was lovely, very well set out and easy to navigate around everywhere.

The food was spectacular and decent sized portions, probably one of the nicest meals we have ever had at a wedding.

The only complaint was they ran out of some of the Gin! But I think that’s because it was a favourite of the wedding party 😂😂

They have beautiful photography for sale through the hotel, and I brought one to take home to proudly put on our wall at home.

Thank you for Such a wonderful, seamless and chilled out experience, we will return for a visit someday.

Spectacular Autumn Wedding venue

Hotel was perfect! Food was amazing, room what cute and cosy. The bar was fantastic. Perfect all round. To top it off the staff were the best point. 

I can’t remember the ladies name- but she booked us in, served our meals. She was so warm & bubbly! 

We will definitely be back! 

Amazing & perfect

This hotel is pretty unique which you need to consider before you go. It isn’t far from Kirriemuir but there is no mobile reception.  Also it is the only place where you can eat so make sure you book as it is popular.

We have stayed here on a few occasions and it is the perfect spot for relaxation and walking in the hills, you really feel you get away from it all, especially with no phone reception.

Staff are all great and take great care to ensure you enjoy your holiday, which is delivered in there own unique way.

The bar is cozy and with the log fire it has a proper welcoming feel and a buzz all of its own.

We have been coming to Glen Clova for 12 years now and every year it gets better and better.  The staff, food and location really make Glen Clova a unique and very special destination. Fiona, Angus, Calley, Raymond  and all the staff are so kind, caring and genuinely hospitable people who work so hard day after day to meet all your needs.  The lodges are so comfortable offering a truly relaxing break.  The hotel offer lovely food that utilizes the best of local produce; home made soups, pheasant pakora and the best pepper corn sauce ever!  Every year you can see the investment Glen Cova make to improve the guest experience.  Thank you Glen Clova for yet another wonderful and memorable stay!  We cannot wait to return!                   

Glen Clova is truly AMAZING!   

Enjoyed a couple of nights at the Glen Clova Hotel at the start of January and I can praise the hotel staff highlight enough. We had excellent service throughout and meals were delicious.

Hotel was quiet so were seated in the Climbers Bar instead of main restaurant for dinner however this was cozy, with the fire lit and and led to a much better atmosphere.

Room was clean and comfortable. 

Walking was restricted due to the icy conditions however we were aware of the risk of this when booking a trip at this time and still enjoyed a great relaxing trip.

I was concerned by some of the mixed reviews on here but pleased to confirm the same high standards we have known on previous visits have been maintained. This a great small hotel in a beautiful part of the world and we are looking forward to our next trip.

A special hotel in a special part of the world

We have had a brilliant trip to Glen Clova Hotel for Hogmanay. Stayed 2 nights in the steading rooms which was just ideal. 
The staff, food, bands, fireworks, hill walks & atmosphere was all fantastic. Well done to the Clova Team 👏 we will be back!
