We had an absolutely wonderful week at the Bridge Hotel. The service we received from check in to departure was outstanding. All members of staff were super friendly and really couldn’t do enough for you.

We stayed in the self catering apartments which are well equipped, spacious, clean and very comfortable. We chose self catering as we took our dog with us and wanted the extra space. 

We decided to dine at the Walkers bar on arrival and had the most delicious roast dinner along with a doggie meal for our pooch. As the food and service was so good we ate our evening meal there most evenings. We selected something different each evening and each and every meal was delicious. The firm favourite was the Steak and Ale Pie which is the best my husband has ever tasted and will be back for more!

There’s a great selection of wines and beers and the lakes gin is certainly worth a try.

Thanks to the entire team for a fabulous week, we will be back!

Stunning hotel in a stunning part of the lakes

Lovely hotel with great rooms that are
Spotlessly clean and have everything you need.  We had Room 4 overlooking the bridge and the Herdies on the hills,  what more do you want ? 😁.  The biggest asset at the bridge is undoubtably the staff, always welcoming and always have time for chat and advice.   Food was excellent and the bridge blonde was fantastic  🍺 👏.

One of the best

Visited for food on Tuesday night. Service was great. The dining room was lovely and the staff were friendly. The food was good sized portions and extremely tasty 😃 i had the lasagna and my husband had fish and chips. We would both definitely come back and eat here again.

Lovely meal

We have just returned from a  3 night, relaxing  stay at the Bridge Hotel. We were made very welcome upon arrival, by Ray; and the overall service from all, from start to finish, was second to none. Dinner in the restaurant,  offered a wide choice of food and it was such a comforting place to retire to, after a long day walking. Absolutely no complaints at all, and we would highly recommend the Bridge Hotel to stay when in Buttermere. We will most definitely be returning one day. Thank you.

Very relaxing!

Just spent 3 nights away here in this little gem of a hotel. Arrived at 2pm & our room was ready to check in..bonus!!
We had room 14 which had a seating area & a balcony with more seating. A beautiful room which had a walk in shower & a perfect size bath. Tea/coffee/hot chocolate with biscuits replenished every day which was much needed after a days hiking.
A perfect walk on arrival day was around Buttermere lake which is a steady stroll that takes about 1 hour 15.
Breakfast is plentiful & well cooked. Even the full Cumbrian breakfast seemed healthy. Starters was a choice of cereals or Greek yoghurt with berry compote. Main breakfast was either full Cumbrian, smoked salmon or mackerel with eggs or eggs Benedict. Plenty of toast & juice too.
I recommend eating g in the Walkers pub which has a log roaring fire a fantastic menu and great choice of wines & beers. Wainwrights ales are a plentiful. The hotel & Walkers bar staff are so friendly & chatty and really give you a Cumbrian welcome.
The location is perfect from a gentle stroll around the lake, a gentle hike up Whiteless Pike or you can do a full day up Red Tarn, High Stiles, High Crag & Hay Stacks. Or you can take in a short 5/10 minutes drive up to Honister slate mines with via ferrata mine tours and much more. Close by is the beautiful town of Keswick which has an abundance of shops for all types of travellers. We can’t wait to visit this fantastic hotel again.

The best hotel in the northern lakes

Had a lovely local lager and ale. The meal was really nice and hot. My husband ordered chios and got fries. But otherwise the pie and burger was really nice. The only downside was the pub was really dark. Couldn't read the menu with out the torch on my phone.

A drink after a walk 

Door fastened wide open on a freezing cold day, asking for it to be closed got us a dirty look. Not warm or welcoming. Food was awful, not very warm but we tried to eat it because we were hungry. Definitely don't recommend the steak pie unless you want something extremely chewy. Fishfinger sandwich was slightly better. Food is nicer at the pub next door. 

Poor food and service

Had a meal in the hotel early evening in mid week in the walkers bar.  High quality food being local produce.  Very good service from cheerful and friendly staff.  The restaurant was fairly busy.  Strongly recommendef.

Good food

The best thing about this hotel - other than the extremely comfy beds and delicious breakfast - is the friendly and helpful staff - couldn’t fault any of them - really professional and so helpful. The breakfast was one of the nicest I have had in ages in a hotel - all cooked to order with waiter service and so tasty with a great choice of dishes. Our room was really nicely decorated and very clean - great shower and lovely bath and shower products. I had such a good sleep in the comfortable bed. We also had tea and scones in the lounge which were so tasty.

Lovely place to stay in a lovely part of the world

The Bridge is a classic Lakeland hotel with contemporary standards and friendly attentive staff in a beautiful location ideal for a walking holiday whatever your level of fitness.
The rooms are furnished to a high standard and the beds are very comfortable.
