Absolutely wonderful stay at this lovely hotel.

Everything about it is perfect. The staff go way above and beyond to make sure that you feel special and valued.

We were given a complimentary upgrade. The room was huge, luxurious, comfortable, and very clean.

We dined at the nearby Tallbooth restaurant (which was excellent). The hotel staff drove us there and picked us up afterwards. 

The breakfast, served in our room, was generous and delicious. 

I honestly cannot praise Maison Tallbooth highly enough.



Perfect

We have just spent a lovely night at The Hotel for our 44th Wedding anniversary. Our room was lovely. Emily in Reservations was so helpful. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. Lovely dinner at Le Talbooth. We shall be returning soon. 

Lovely overnight stay

Spent two nights at this pretty hotel celebrating our wedding anniversary.

Overall we had a lovely stay, the weather was perfect, the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful (special thanks to Alice who was amazing).

We stayed in a deluxe room on the first floor, lovely room with dual aspect windows overlooking the front of the property and views over the pool and spa. The pool was delightful which we made good use of given the weather was so warm.

Rooms on the ground floor and second floors all had air conditioning which we didn't as we were on the first floor. They did however place a fan in the room which did help, but would have preferred a room with air conditioning.

Had dinner twice at their restaurant housed in a different property in the village overlooking the river, a beautiful  location and you are taken to the restaurant by car and picked up when you have finished. The first night the experience was lovely as was the food and wine, the second night unfortunately not so good. Poor service, table in a poor position right at the end of the outside restaurant and overall it was a poor experience.

Continental breakfast can be served in the hotel, if however you prefer something more substantial they will take you by car to their sister hotel, Milsom a short drive away where a hot and cold buffet is served.

Le Talbooth is well worth a visit, we were extremely lucky with the weather which helped to make a real occasion for our wedding anniversary.

What let it down
Room was next the reception. Essentially tucked behind it. I don’t expect that for a highly priced supposed luxury hotel. Noisy and it did not feel at all private. Not at all comparable to other hotels of the supposed level they market at.

No breakfast bar small continental available at the hotel. For this you had to get in the car or shuttle car to go down the road to Milsoms.

BreakSpa is simply one low heat sauna and the outside pool (bar treatment rooms). If the rather isn’t good it would be a real letdown and does not compare to many other hotels that advertise actual spas (hot sauna, steam room, etc etc)
While I love children (3 myself) . A spa break doesn’t include children hogging the only whirlpool and playing in the swimming pool. Not at all peaceful. If I wanted that experience I would have bought my own along !
Additionally, should I have wanted to use the spa the next day(it wasn’t worth bothering in the end) we were told you could only use until check out of the room at 12. Again most spa hotels allow use throughout the day of leaving. Another downside.

All in all disappointing and overpriced.

Overmarketed and overpriced for product you receive

Overnight stay Spa and pool was amazing, food at restaurant included in package amazing with driven service to adjacent restaraunts, room was very hot at night hard to sleep, was full of flies when we checked in, bathroom a little dated, poor view out back of hotel rooms a Smokey chimney and hedge, was quite expensive for what it is. But overall had a great time the talbooth restaurant meal included was superb food and settings had to be experienced for luxury milsom breakfast no fried eggs or beans so a little dry. Had a great massage and the pool jacuzzi sauna is superb with comfy sun loungers. Recommend for luxury stay get a room at front for better views.

Mini moon overnight spa break

I’ve stayed here before and thought the service was good. This time it was ok but really don’t think the price warrants the hotel. I’ve stayed in better hotels for less money. The decor is fab and has been updated. Rooms are spacious with nice bathroom products. I don’t however see the point in having a bath tub with no product (shampoo etc) next to it and when you ask for it they don’t have it. Miniatures or a permanent fixture on the wall otherwise what’s the point? I stayed for two days however the room wasn’t made up or the towels changed and I had to ask. For the price I paid I would expect that to be standard as it is in most top end hotels. No one ever appears to be on the desk or available too. The pool area and spa are lovely and quiet with an honesty bar available. The grounds are lovely. Although I had a nice room it wasn’t the one I booked and someone else had the one I chose. The local restaurant Talbooth was superb and there was a complementary shuttle. Breakfast at Milsoms was lovely too. It was a nice stay but there’s some customer service bits that they need to work on to justify their prices in comparison to other similar level hotels.

Nice but could do better for the price

Rooms over priced  for what they  are  our Room was over £200 a night. The towels in the bathroom were old and need replacing. The bathroom was large and nice .  Bedroom was over crowded with furniture. Curtains need replacing . Bedroom was hot and stuffy. There was a fan in our room . So loud you could not sleep so switched it off and Room was uncomfortable. Poor communication with staff. Breakfast was ok buffet. Food was not of high quality. Really. It worth the money this hotel? The gardens and surrounding area is lovely but you can visit the village without staying at this hotel.   We were on the ground floor so when in bed you could here the room above especially walking a round .

Over night stay Wedding guest

We had a lovely stay in a room with a superb view over Dedham Vale. Bed was very comfortable although the pillows were a bit too soft for our liking. We enjoyed the breakfasts but did not like having to make our choice the night before as there is no longer a buffet service. Facilities are good and it was great to have fresh milk and complimentary drinks in the fridge. Service and housekeeping throughout our stay were superb.

Great location

Attended recent wedding whereby whole house was booked. None of the 12 rooms had high enough hanging rail for the bride’s dress, not ideal for a wedding venue. Had to hang from my window frame. My room had no dressing table with mirror so had to use hairdryer standing up using mirror inside wardrobe. Nowhere bright enough with a mirror to do makeup. Rooms - especially carpets, tired.  No choice of food for guests at wedding due to it not being cooked on site, all had to have same food. Wouldn’t recommend this as a wedding venue. Nice setting although could hear A12.

Wedding

I can't say I can recommend this venue for a wedding. Not only do you have to provide your own music, it lack any atmosphere, as they do nothing to decorate it, we had four members of staff who did nothing, apart from turn the music on, put out some chairs and take the flowers over to Le Talbooth after the wedding. We provided the flowers, one of the guest even had to ask for water, as nothing at all was on offer. Very expensive for virtually nothing! 

You need to review your weddings and get a real planner in there and start making them the most amazing day of your life, really disappointing!

Also if couples are having a dual location wedding (including Le Talbooth) then make sure that its seamless event, I could have done it better!
