The newly refurbished rooms are all brilliant we stayed in Cornfield , which had a supersized bed and beautiful walk in shower in the bathroom. The room maintained the history of this lovely building showing the original timbers behind a glass screen. The room was immaculate . The staff were superb always asking if we required anything extra

The Angel Inn is absolutely brilliant I would definitely recommend it 👌,  the staff are lovely,  and very professional and friendly..
The rooms are very comfortable and clean 👌,  food was excellent,  we was told about each course we had with some wine with each course...

Birthday weekend 

Recently refurbished to an excellent standard. Highly comfortable stay to accommodate us while we research our family history locally. Delightful rooms and helpful staff. Exquisite breakfasts - fantastic fruit salad and sublime salmon. Enjoyed meeting the chef Ruben Aguilar Bel and chatting with him about the previous evenings tasting menu.

Tour de force

After reading very good reviews of the Angel we decided to give it a try . 
We are regular diners at the nearby Crown and had not been to the Angel since it changed ownership .
What a fantastic dining experience . Very good atmosphere and very busy .
The food was extremely good quality and the service was first class.

Definitely an excellent choice for a birthday dinner.

Superb food and excellent service

My wife and I were lucky enough to win a competition to stay at The Angel Inn overnight with a three course meal and breakfast. Everything about the place and our stay was fantastic - beautiful Constable Country location, stunning16th Century building, friendly and very polite staff, the room was very comforting, cosy and clean and the food was exquisite. I would recommend anyone to either stay here or eat here or both, you will not be disappointed. We're lucky enough to live only a short distance away so we'll definitely be back very soon.

Wow!

We haven't actually stayed here yet,but if the rooms are as nice as the food then I would definitely stay, the food is fabulous,the staff are very attentive but not overly so,set in a lovely position with a nice beer garden for the summer,you must try it

Great place to eat and stay

Myself and my partner stayed here after a works Christmas meal. We stepped through the door and was greeted by a burning log fire, Christmas decorations and a friendly face. From the moment we stepped through the door the service was fantastic, nothing was too much and you could tell that service is very important to them. The building is beautiful and picturesque and the food well the food is incredible. I will certainly be returning for the food! 
Unfortunately our room did not meet the same bench mark, we stayed in a basic double which on viewing was nice. Nicely furnished with everything you would require. Firstly we were greeted by the smell of fresh paint which although the room looked fresh it wasn’t particularly nice to smell this every time we walked through the door, there was also masking tape still on the wood work in the bathroom leading me to feel that the room had a quick last minute touch up before we arrived. The bathroom door had a bolt which didn’t work so you couldn’t lock the door, not a problem for us but maybe for other guests. The shower hose was broken so when the shower was turned on it sprayed all up the wall as well as through the head. The door to our room also had a problem with the handle, when you closed the door it could just be pushed open making the handle useless. To stop this we had to lock the door each time. Finally there was an iron and ironing board available to use and it has to be said that it was a cheap and small iron and board, for the price of the rooms and how much custom the pub gets supplying decent equipment is kind of expected instead I felt that this may have been donated to the pub by a friend who was chucking it out. 
I honestly feel that they were caught off guard with our room because the rest of the experience was flawless, maybe it’s because it was Christmas and they were very busy. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them and I would stay again as I genuinely think that we were unlucky.

Potential to be flawless!

We booked in  for one night a couple of weekends ago and were very pleased with the hospitality.  We also decided to eat here as well and although the menu was a little limited, the food was superb. The service was also excellent.
The only down side was that because it was nearing Christmas there was not an area of  the pub for residents to sit and have a quiet drink. We mentioned this to the manager who told us this is something they are going to look at in the New Year. 

Birthday celebration 

The most disproportionate dinner I’ve ever had. Fine dining prices for absolutely mediocre food. £15 for a cube of potato with an egg on it. Waited 50mins for this phenomenal delicacy.

Once it had finally arrived I was provided with circa 54 calories of food. Not only was it short in quantity it was utterly basic in quality. 

When queried why the dish cost £15 I was told it was due to the components. When questioned the response was it was in fact the egg that was the valuable component. A £15 egg it was not. 

The Crown less than 10 metres away is less expensive, more extravagant, has better ingredients and has better service. 

If you are local you will know not to go to the Angel and to go to the Crown. If you are not local I would suggest it would be ludicrous to go to the Angel instead it is inferior in all ways bar their utterly customer-offending pricing.

Go to the Crown. The Angel is a disgrace.

We come up to Suffolk regularly and love coming to the Angel Inn.
The food is first class and the staff friendly and helpful. We sometimes come in with our family and grandson the staff always make sure he is fed first and supply interesting things for him to do which makes our meal very relaxing! The pheasant ‘special’ this week was outstanding. It is certainly a lovely experience to eat here.
