Firstly this is not a hotel, it clearly used to be. There is no pub/ bar or dining area. It appears to under new ownership. The rooms are at the back and have a shared entrance. Our room had an ensuite. The room was quiet.

There is free parking outside, but it is noisy due to the people temporarily parking to collect takeaway food close by.

Slept okay, expensive place to stay.

A last minute booking and a good price so wasn't expecting 3 star standard. It isn't a Hotel/Restaurant any more just rooms.  Breakfast wasn't available though we knew that when we booked. We had two double rooms, both were clean as were the bathrooms. One of the rooms was far to small for two people. Walls paper thin. The gentleman greeted us with a smile and was extremely pleasant and helpful. Doors very difficult to open and needed slamming closed. Parking was great, right outside the door.  Co-op supermarket opposite very hand, open til late on Sundays. All in all we got what we paid for. So no complaints.

Impromptu visit to Coldstream

Nice site were down beaver lake. Far away away from main action needed car all the time static silver and plenty  of space, good supermarket cafe pricy Chippy only open few hours not long enough  ,,,but great feeding Swan,s ducks  ect  I would go again  wife not bothered

Great caravan.. Better than we expected... Very poor WiFi set up... And far too expensive... For everything. Boats. Go karts.. And all activities a total rip off to say the least.. Young staff with bad attitudes... 


OK.. But not great

Seasoned Haven Holidayers after our abroad holiday in the summer we decided to go to a Haven camp for October half term opting for a return visit for Haggerston Castle after a few years away (it’s only an hour up the road so seemed a good choice for midweek). Very little has changed since we last visited however effort has been made to update the main facilities (new soft play, Castle Bar and outside bar/terrace). Overall the ground are really beautiful in the autumn; kids activities are ‘ok’ with plenty of places for kids to run around and explore and the pool is great for little ones. 

Two gripes would be the size of the Show Bar is just too small for the amount of guests that Haven have on site and money spend on the Castle Bar could have been better spend extending the Live Lounge (although I think this has already been extended once?!). I do accept we stayed during October half term so will have been very busy but it’s simply too small. Second gripe would be the quality of daytime entertainment is really poor compared to Bourne’s other brand Butlins but accept that you get what you pay for and Haven camps are primary aimed to be used as ‘bases’ for exploring local attractions through the day. 

Overall I’d likely choose the Berwick camp for any future half term excursion over HC but we won’t write off completely a return in the future.

Nice canny mid-week

My daughter booked a caravan for this year's firework display, she went up on the Friday 4th with her husband and 10 week old baby, she told me that she had to complain because the caravan was dirty and stunk of heavy smoking, I joined them on the Saturday with their 2 other children aged 9 & 10. Although the caravan was a modern caravan, it definitely hadn't been cleaned properly, my daughter always takes her own bedding as does my grandson,  but when we got back to the caravan late on the Saturday night, I was appalled by the disgusting bedding on the twin beds which myself and my granddaughter were expected to sleep on  they had definitely not been changed from the previous occupants, Rachael went to get the quilt that was from her bed and there was blood on that one too, also when I removed the bedding there were no mattress covers underneath with previous wee stains on the mattresses this is a must in any sort of accommodation, it was late and we were a 25 minute walk from the reception, I had to make do with a fleecy blanket I had in the car and the granddaughter shared her brothers bedding.  I left first thing on the Sunday and took the grandchildren and baby home, Rachael and Sean decided to stay on the Sunday as they had there own bedding.
I also want to complain about how disgusting the toilets were outside the entertainment room, the dirtiest toilets I've ever seen in a complex, no toilet roll in any of the cubicles broken soap dispensers, inotified the security guard who said he would get it sorted and an hour later there was still no toilet rolls in the cubicles.
This a a massive caravan complex that has expanded more and more over the years, unfortunately they haven't expanded the complex so the toilets, bar etc cannot cope with the amount if people there.
I will definitely not be going back to Happerston ... I recommend Berwick, Sandy Bay, Whitley Bay and Primrose Valley .... Haggerston could learn at lot from them.

Disgusted

From someone who has been every year almost for the last ten year, that will be my last. 
Fiona on reception was amazing and upgraded our caravan as my partner had just got back from iraq and Ukraine and was excited for a break from war!!! 
Few bullet points as i genuinely cba to write loads im
Drained with it. 
1. Caravan is lovely. But no tea towels. No cleaning products. No toilet
Roll.  Take your own supplies they can’t even stretch to a tea bag anymore. 
2. No water on sale 
 in the Mash & barrel in the whole four days yet sell beer? Water keeps you alive. Beer doesn’t. Wrong priorities. 
3. Bought fish & chips from the chippy. Got back to caravan. No fish. We were robbed. 
4. Wasted our time even trying to see any kind of entertainment as there was no seats, it was so over crowded it was a health & safety issue. So for three nights we had no entertainment that we paid for. Especially with it being hAlloween our child was devastated. 
5. Left to stand in queues for ages as there was no staff to serve us!! 
6. The young girl on the ice cream stand was extremely miserable & allowed everyone to stand there for 25 minutes before telling everyone it was cash only. Once again no ice cream. 
7. Needed to book
In advance for boats & buggies etc.
Tried on numerous occasions & guess what? No boats or buggies. 
8. Had to physically ask reception for another towel. We were expected to use the few that were put in our caravan for
The full four days. Very unhygienic.
9. Understaffed & over crowded. We have basically paid all that money to be stuck in a caravan all weekend & robbed blind of entertainment & the rest. On behalf of myself as a loyal customer & the rest… sort this out as I for one won’t be back & I doubt the rest will be either. If your staff don’t like their jobs please
Employ someone who actually wants the jobs. It takes nothing to be polite & crack a smile. Listen to your customers it may actually help

Haggerston has went downhill majorly.

Booked a night here as a treat for my best friends birthday
. Staff we saw were lovely and very friendly and although the room we were given was in need of redecoration and updating it seemed to be clean enough on the face of it. Sheets and towels were of good quality white cotton and seemed very clean and fresh. 
However, as is my custom, to be helpful, I started to strip the beds on morning of departure and got an awful shock.  We were in room 8 which is a family room with a double and two single beds. My friend slept on one of the single beds and when I stripped off the bottom sheet I found a mattress protector that was absolutely covered from head to foot with yellow staining!  Looked like it hadn’t been washed in months and I was nearly sick! The mattress under neath was tatty and stained too and wasn’t even the correct mattress for the base it was on. It was really terrible. So terrible in fact that I shied away from stripping the double bed I had slept on as I didn’t want to see that I might have lain on something similar! No excuses here for housekeeping staff or management. Totally unacceptable! 

Also bedroom door was a very tight fit and difficult to close without banging as was the door to the street directly outside the room door. Not great at night or early morning when other guests coming and going. 

Plus side the breakfast was good and well cooked. 

Room was £80 including breakfast so was not expecting a palace but such a shame that something as basic as lack of cleanliness of bed/bedding let it down badly.

Check mattress!

Called into this estblishment a couple of times and had drinks and food. Decent prices and always friendly. Good atmosphere and had a laugh with the locals and owners. Would certainly go back when next in the area.

Polite and friendly staff

Basic, reasonably priced, free breakfast, good area, would be good to have a chair or chest /bench in the room to lay down clothes, or small table. 
Also very thin walls, mum next door heard everything we spoke about. Comfy bed and good pillows. 
Was good to use back entrance, that comes put to the car park (free parking), many choices to eat out, as food wasn't served on Friday evening, we went to Public Bar down the road, great prices and tasty food,also dog friendly.
