Lovely hotel, full of character and style and deserves its 5 AA stars. Good location, free parking, comfortable rooms, attentive service, good bar/Italian food at Leone restaurant.  Stayed 2 nights in family room.  Hard to fault and will definitely stay there again.

I don’t even know where to begin.

Brilliant atmosphere, excellent staff, exceptional service, comfortable (and spotlessly clean) bedrooms and a sensational evening in Radley’s to end the BEST New Year’s Eve we’re enjoyed for as long as we can remember!

We’re five friends who’ve gotten together every New Year (pandemic permitting), since as far back as we can remember. One over sixty, and the others fast approaching, we’re always looking for something that we can enjoy as a collective, without having to go down the corporate, mass-catered affairs… and boy did we drop on with the Lion & Swan! Everything we could wish for and all under one roof.

Afternoon drinks in a truly lovely pub, followed by a quick wash-and-brush-up in our most excellent rooms. Seven o’clock dinner in the Leoni Terrace Restaurant (the food was to die for!), then personally escorted to our reserved table in Radley’s, where we were served Champagne & Canapes in the presence of some first-class entertainment.

Jess, Katie and the whole L&S team, I can’t begin to thank you enough for making our New Year’s Eve so truly special. You treated us like royalty, and we felt like VIPs! We’ll be booking for next NYE too this week and planning many more trips throughout the remainder of the year.


Spectacularly good!

We were not guests at the Hotel however we visited the Restaurant at the rear. It is a beautiful building and very modern. 

When we arrived we were greeted and shown to a table very quickly, our waiter Matt was very friendly and chatty. We ordered drinks and unfortunately did have to wait some time for these.

I had a Pork dish and my wife had a Chicken dish, both meals were great however it took a while to arrive as it was busy. We were then convinced to try the tiramisu and it was gorgeous. 

We did comment about our wait times to our waiter and he immediately apologised and had a round of drinks added to the bill for free and personally went to get them for us.

Overall a great setting, fabulous food, busy times means wait times are longer but the service was a highlight, Matt and the young lady helping him were both exemplary and charming. 

We will return soon

Great Food, Great Service

Don’t usually write reviews but we enjoyed our recent 2 day stay so much, I feel others need to know. The staff are the friendliest I have ever encountered at any hotel and nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing, beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. Our room was very lovely, comfortable, clean and modern, and the shower  in the beautiful en-suit was amazing. We booked the hotel as we were attending a wedding close by but will certainly visit again, just because. 

Just Fantastic

We visited recently for an anniversary meal.  The food was fabulous with a varied choice from the menu. We couldn’t fault anything.  Good choice of wines too.  The staff made us feel very welcome and really looked after us.  This was our 2nd recent visit and we couldn’t fault anything on either occasion.  We would definitely recommend.

Great visit

Apparently I'd been here before, to watch footy on TV, but I didn't recognise it all. That is a compliment because the lounge is now extremely well laid out with wonderful furnishings. Just a lovely ambience.

I had a pot of Early Grey tea and unlike some places, you could really taste the leaves.

The service was friendly and efficient and there was no premium on the price, for a first class experience.

Lovely rooms comfy beds great restaurant. Lots to see in congelton bars restaurants everywhere loved it .breakfast very good.will return soon.staff very friendly and looked after us very well.had a lovely stay.

Great place to stay.

Had another wonderful experience! Food was amazing, staff were polite and friendly! My eldest daughter brought her 3 year old daughter and my youngest daughter brought her 10 week old baby! We all had a lovely time and nothing  was too much trouble! Many thanks 

Perfect end to a perfect afternoon.

First time at Lion and Swan. Very efficient and attentive staff. Reasonable selection on the lounge menu. Food served promptly and hot. Excellent quality.  We did not feels rushed though service was prompt and courteous. Would recommend and we will go again. 

Great lunch for wedding anniversary. 

Went for a lovely relaxed lunch with "Ladies who Lunch" taking my great neice (4 year old) and great nephew (8 weeks). The place is  lovely decorated and very spacious with our pram in tow. Food was delicious and for the 4 year old very messy 😋 🤣🤣.
