Phil and Sam run this exceptional hostelry. They could not be more welcoming or happy to help. We had a specific area to house our bikes, the rooms were warm and cosy & very comfortable. The range of beer predominantly local and brilliant to boot, the food was varied and extremely tasty and the breakfast next morning was superb. The highlight of our trip without doubt

Visited as part of the Way of the Roses cycle ride... Exceptional hostelry

This is a truly wonderful pub on all levels. It’s in a brilliant location, open fires and a great atmosphere. Family owned and run. Excellent beer and food and the rooms were lovely. Best of all they are lovely hosts. Can’t recommend the team enough!

Wonderful  pub - don’t miss it

Lovely old inn. Very welcoming owners. Bedroom was clean & comfy. Bed linen was excellent & fluffy white towels. Evening food was gorgeous all homemade using fresh ingredients and local beers & gin.
Breakfast next day was also really good! Local produce.
Good location for visiting Malham. Would definitely return.

Nice stay

We came for a family pre-Christmas meal. it was a very  good choice and we had a lovely night out: very tasty food,  a mixture of traditional  and gastropub. It's always reassuring when  there is a relatively short menu  of dishes well  done. There was a warm  and friendly welcome,  even  though  we were running late- that  was no  problem. Although  most of us were quite full,  all  6 of us decided to  have a pudding,  no one wanted to  miss out! It is a while since we have been  to  the  Devonshire at Cracoe,  but I hope we will  be back  soon.

Lovely family pre-Christmas meal.

We called into The Devonshire Arms for lunch, absolutely beautiful food, home made and a great selection of fresh vegetables, very good selection of real ales also available, we will definitely call in again when back in the area.



Great find. 

The room had big damp patches on the ceiling. The bed knob was hanging off and the mattress was terrible could feel every spring. In the shower room the sink had a big crack in it and the taps were loose and dripping. The shower and rubber mat were disgusting. This room should never have been let until these things were rectified 

Tired room

What a lovely place to stay. Everything was spot on from the cleanliness of our room to the great menu of food and drinks.
The owners and all the staff were so friendly and helpful.
We will definitely return thank you.

Great place to stay and eat

What a lovely place. Great food, wine & beer. Warm welcome from Sam & Phil. Fabulous breakfast, comfortable beds. So quiet…we slept so well! Helpful advice to access the walls we wants to. Can’t wait to come back.
The food was great. Fish and chips, Seabass and excellent choice of vegetarian meals.

Devonshire arms is a fabulous family run pub, friendly and welcoming, and attention to detail superb. The rooms comfortable and clean, we stayed in Hawes room, which was one of the smaller double rooms, and yes, it was very compact, however, it had everything we needed, hospitality tray with biscuits and fresh milk, chilled water and lovely toiletries in the bathroom. The evening meal was delicious, the atmosphere in the bar was relaxed, lots of people dining but Phil and his lovely wife just seemed to manage everything attentively and with out any drama. The breakfast was equally tasty, the menu included kippers, smoked haddock and eggs royale all served with a smile. The pub is located in a small village, less than 4 miles from Grassington and the bus stop is just outside. We definitely recommend this lovely pub and can’t wait to come back in the winter when those log fires are roaring!  

Cosy, family run pub. 

Considered not writing this for the last few weeks but you know what has to be said.

We were a relatively young group ranging from 19-25  and there was around 20 of us doing a portion of the Ales in the Dales. 

We were made to feel so unwelcome and we were not being loud, not being rude and we were not rowdy as I personally made sure.

When we went in once the bus taking us around had parked up, we got given the cold shoulder and told we were not going to be served amazing considering there were maybe 8 customers in the entire place. We even said we are happy to have a drink outside and not in despite it not being the warmest weather as it was March. But no bar staff had a terrible attitude. 

To say we would have spent upwards of £300 whilst we were there you’d think they’d be welcoming us but no. 

So we didn’t even bother and got back on the coach. We’re all very local all living within a 15 minute drive but we aren’t going back again.

Family once had a meal here and it was crap so probably best we didn’t stay judging by current reviews too.
