Sue accommodated us for one night and we’ve had the best time staying at the Glyn y Coed. Beautiful hotel room with a fabulous sea view. Cannot fault anything. Our room was spotlessly clean with charming and thoughtful little touches. We will definitely stay here again. Because of Covid - no breakfast is available, but that’s fine with us. We’ll happily explore and choose a little cafe to eat in. Thanks for making our stay a lovely and memorable one

Wonderful and memorable stay

Sue managed to fit us in for one night at short notice, rooms are stylish and comfortable, convenient location for all amenities in Cricieth. Because of covid restrictions breakfast is not currently available here, but many excellent cafes nearby.

One Night Stay

I booked with this hotel for next April with booking.com. 
I then received a curt response from someone to say hotel is being taken over and the new owners wont be taking bookings. There is NOTHING to suggest this when you try and book so something appears very dodgy! 
Just dont book!!

Trying to book!

This is our second visit to Glyn-y-Coed. Having visited a couple of years previously we were looking forward to going back again and weren't disappointed.  Julie was welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room was large, comfortable and spotlessly clean and the breakfast was delicious.  Julie handled the Covid adjustments delicately and with tact so it never felt intrusive but we always felt perfectly safe.  When we arrived Julie mentioned that dolphins had been seen in the bay, so we kept a look out for them and on our final evening we spotted a pod out in the bay which we watched from our room.

Great relaxing break, in a super hotel

We've just returned from a two night break at the Glyn-y-Coed Bed and Breakfast at Criccieth and wanted to share our experience with everyone. What a little gem of a place. The host Julie greeted us with a warm welcome and then offered us a pot of coffee while we got over our long drive.

The room was bright, warm with a stunning coastal view and direct view of the castle, it was breathing taking.

Breakfast: High quality butchers best sausages, bacon and organic eggs. This followed our starter of fresh fruit, yogurt, granola and freshly squeezed orange juice.

Bed: Superb mattress, with high cotton thread duvet covers and sheets. Beautifully comfortable pillows to accompany a light but warm duvet.

The location: A stroll away from the waters front and a short stroll to Dylan's restaurant which was also up there with the best service and food.

We loved it and will be returning soon.

Superb Quality - Excellence throughout - Everything well thought out to the smallest detail.

Just back from spending 6 nights at Glyn y Coed.  Julie, the owner kindly gave us a free upgrade and couldn't have been more attentive to our needs.  Room was extremely comfortable and beautifully furnished.  There is a delightful lounge where we were served complimentary afternoon tea on several occasions.  Location is very convenient for the beach, Portmeirion, Snowdownia and heritage railways.  Will definitely return.

Comfortable room, excellent location, incredibly hospital owner

Recently enjoyed a lovely stay in one of the sea view rooms. Julie was accommodating when we wanted to change our arrival date at short notice and was very friendly and helpful throughout. She offered lots of advice about the area including maps and places to eat which really helped us make the most of our visit. Luckily we were able to have breakfast at the B&B due to the number of guests and it was delicious - plenty of choice for veggies and good coffee. The only slight criticism is that the shower wasn't great but the room itself was spotless and very comfortable so it wasn't an issue. The Covid measures in place were sensible and we enjoyed a very relaxing stay.

Amazing view & brekkie

This is a beautifully presented B&B accommodation which is tastefully decorated throughout. My room had sea views as well as a brilliant view of the castle. Julie was an exceptional host and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was plentiful and excellent value for money.  I would highly recommend this guest house to anyone wanting visit the beautiful town of Criccieth and surrounding areas. 

Fabulous accommodation in Cricceith

I stayed here with my husband in September 2020.  Please don't get me wrong, this is not a horrible place, but I felt that there were a few things that needed addressing.

First let me start with the positives.  The place is spotlessly clean.  The beds and pillows are the best! The lady who greeted us (assisted by Wilma) was lovely.  The safety measures for Covid were also good, with sanitisers at all relevant points around the building.

Now for the  negatives.  We booked for bed and breakfast through booking.com. We paid £95 per night and our decision to book was swayed by the beautiful pictures of the rooms shown on TripAdviser and the guest house website.  

When we arrived at the guest house we were advised that due to Covid-19 restrictions they could only cater for 5 tables at breakfast time, despite there being 10 rooms.  This meant that only half the guests were receiving breakfast - and we were not included on the list.  We were then given details of a couple of places to eat in the village which served breakfast.  No other alternatives were offered.  There were no arrangements in place to serve breakfast in 2 sittings and no offer to serve breakfast in our room.  Nothing.  This meant that it cost us a further £14-£16 pounds each day to have breakfast in the cafe down the road.  It wouldn't even have been so bad if the guest house had some kind of arrangement with the cafe  whereby guests who could not have breakfast could get some kind of discount.  Of course we understand that Covid makes things difficult and people have to find new ways around things, but we just felt as though we were treated like second class guests (perhaps because we had booked through booking.com and not with the guest house directly - who knows?)

Anyway, we decided that at £95 per night the room would be worth the price, even without breakfast.  We were wrong.  The room was at the back of the house, it was tiny (when you opened the door you hit one of the beds), the bathroom was the size of a cupboard and the view was of a shabby back yard and looked out onto neighbouring houses.   

In summary - if you get a front bedroom (and breakfast) this would be a lovely place to stay.  If you get a back bedroom (and no breakfast) - not so much.

Sadly Disappointed

We've just returned from Glyn-y-Coed, spending a delightful 4 nights with Julie and her team. Travelling from Gloucester, we had no issues on the journey there or back, despite Covid publicity. Fantastic.
