Friendly staff, lovely breakfast and comfy bed.    However the room was well past its best and was extremely shabby.  Bathroom is in dire need of
modernisation with possibly the worst shower experience we've had in a hotel/B&B; secondary glazing did
 not hide the cracked open window; decor was dated and scrappy including horrid lighting. An old dirty heater was an unusual feature.  To be honest our room was overpriced and disappointing.   We are aware that there are better rooms so you might be lucky 🤷‍♀️

Disappointing

On arrival at this Cotswold village pub, it looked tired both externally and internally and is in need of a major makeover.  Our experience wasn't great here and it's very expensive so be warned. With a lack of staff and over £30 for 4 drinks, it's not a place we'd rush to again as plenty of other more reasonable pub's in the area. 

Shabby and expensive 

Stayed here for 2 nights on dinner bed and breakfast. Very friendly staff, bar and dining area old world charm, though in need of decoration. Well kept log fires. Good beer and food was good. Starters big enough for a main course. Steak cooked exactly how husband liked it. Room was the Haystack, lovely comfy bed, quality linens and gorgeous bathroom amenities. Let down by decor which was very tired. 
Breakfast was amazing, eggs florentine best ever. Lucy very friendly and even gave fresh cups when had more lovely coffee which is in a cafetiere .Entrance area needs decorating and TLC. We would stay here again as the charm and helpfulness of staff made it a lovely stay. 
We were told new management taking over so maybe decorating and maintenance will be soon.

Very inviting

Called in on a Friday lunchtime, the place is very cluttered with nik naks and has an old world antique feel. 
Walking up the bar the lady serving was pleasant enough but not over friendly. We ordered sandwiches with chips, everything was fine, nothing special. All in all nothing much wrong but just not great.

Nothing special

I’m afraid I cannot tell you how my stay was as it was cancelled 2 days in advance. I booked a one night stay for Sunday night for my husbands birthday which was on the Monday through Pets Pyjamas website as advertised as dog friendly. I paid in full in advance via PP and received a confirmation from the Kings Arms directly back in Dec when booked, & again on 1st Feb. As a matter of habit I always call directly before any stay and I’m glad I did on this occasion as a member of staff proceeded to tell me that the premises was closed on a Monday and the manager wasn’t sure my stay could go ahead. They told me they would get the manager to call me back within 90 mins. This was not done. I attempted another call to them which went to voicemail. 
Luckily, I paid via a 3rd party so went directly to Pets Pyjamas who advised me they had not been told this by the Kings Arms either. PP very helpful and I am receiving a full refund with no issues through them. I query how quickly this process would be had I booked directly with the premises. Either way, they have lost a night’s custom, plus Sunday lunch that I had booked with them and no doubt a bottle of wine I would have bought too! 
Don’t get caught out & I would suggest avoiding-shame as it looked very nice in the pics…

A Birthday stay ruined.

Stayed here for about 9 hours due to a business trip, and would have loved to have stayed longer.
Staff were very helpful about my request for a late check-in, calling to confirm this on the day of my stay too. The single room was perfectly adequate in size, and very comfortable with a very striking picture on the wall. Because I didn't arrive until 11.30 and left at 8.30 the next day, I had little interaction with the team, but that I did have was very pleasant.
The pub looked lovely and made me wish I lived in the village, with a really nice beer garden. The inside was "old fashioned", but very well kept and exactly how i would expect a pub of that nature to be - could imagine long afternoons and evenings relaxing in a nice environment.
Sadly I didn't have time for Breakfast - my only criticism was that Breakfast didn't start until 8 - appreciate why that it is, but wasn't perfect for my stay.

Finally, and nothing to do with the hotel, I stayed here as I was working in Bristol the following day - if you're doing the same, be careful, as it took me an hour to get to Bristol due to traffic.

Excellent Stay

We were returning from a trip to Northampton and our driver tried a different route so did not pass the pub we called into on our last journey.
Our driver knew about this pub so we stopped for a drink before travelling to our home. Not been here before.
All three of us had different drinks with my wife having a soft drink as did our driver while I had a pint of Butcombe gold. A very nice pint which was nicely served by the pleasant young lady behind the bar.
We drank our drinks in the nice garden which I saw had a wood Pizza oven.
We were offered food but declined.

Amazing welcome, 5 star service throughout, great menu and drinks choice, delicious food. Sam and Crystal are doing an amazing job, after not visiting for quite some time, the KA is now firmly back on our radar, can't wait to go back; if you are in the area, pay a visit 

Amazing Welcome 

Stayed for one evening as a solo traveller. Staff went above and beyond making sure I was okay. Food was lovely and the place, well it's just so relaxing and full of character. Took a little time to get my bearings a few twist and turns but that's what I liked about it. Stayed in the Bottle room, very comfortable and there is a lovely beer garden serving fresh pizza from the outside ovens. Glad to have found you, will be back next year if not before for a weekend break with the other half. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay, far more than I was expecting.

Above my expectations 

I spend a lot of time away with work and have got somewhat tired of sterile, characterless buildings, so to find this little gem is a welcome change.

The rooms a brilliant, beds extremely comfy (as are the pillows) and the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. I didn't have dinner (although the menu looks great) but did have breakfast, which was excellent.

I've already recommended this place to colleagues and wouldn't hesitate to book again next time I'm in the area.
