We went to my sons 40th birthday dinner, we paid a £10 deposit. Quite a few people who has paid there depoit did not show up.   We paid for our drinks when ordering them. After the meal (which was dissapointing, it looked like it had been reheated in a microwave oven) we paid our remaining balance of £30 each. My son was charged for all the people that never turned up which is disgusting. They has paid a £10 deposit which they lost!! They have robbed my son !!!will not be going there again .

Extortion

Large, top-floor, "basic" room at an affordable price with breakfast included.
Plenty of hot water in the spacious bathroom with a great sea view.
Heating never quite made it to the room - watch this on cold windy days because the single-glazed windows rattle and whistle.
Evening meal was fine although the kitchen seemed to be caught by surprise that people were wanting food, and several things were unavailable.
Hotel parking is in the council pay-and-display immediately outside. Overnight is free, but you have to get up in the morning to feed the meter.
Interesting staircase to top floor might be a problem for the inebriated.

Good stay at a reasonable price

Lots of things were wern’t on  the menu, even the soup. It seemed the only things they had in was frozen. Very disappointing to see at least 5/6 dishes not on the menu, no wonder the resturant was empty.

Starters were fine, me and my partner both had mussels and they completely lacked any taste.
There was no garlic or any seasoning and the leeks in the sauce  had gone off and black.
£18.50 for mussels with no chips one slice of bread is a rip off in my opinion 

Service was non existent tbh, waitresses need to have lessons on how to smile. They also don’t seem to have any dress code, all wearing whatever they wish, half of them looked like they worked at JD sports rather than a restaurant.

Can’t find any reason to recommend this place.

Run out of a lot of food, service left a lot to be desired.



We enjoyed New Year's Eve at the Royal Hotel Deal. We had a fantastic festive meal with a great atmosphere. The managers and staff were as usual very accommodating and  attentive. The DJ played great music 70s to 90s and we danced the night away and had a lot of fun.  


New Years Eve

The Royal Hotel has a superb beachfront location. Unfortunately it has no car park so parking costs an extra £9.60 a day which we were not made aware of before booking. We arrived mid week at 7.00pm after driving for seven hours, only to be told that the kitchen was closed due to lack of staff due to illness. We had to unpack and go out in the rain to find a restaurant. 
Breakfast was extremely disappointing. Full English breakfast took some time coming and looked as if the constituent parts had been thrown on the plate - the beans were totally dried up and inedible - the poached eggs were not cooked properly- and the bacon and sausage were poor quality. On our second morning we waited 40 minutes for poached eggs on toast. There was no fresh fruit left at 9.30am and only one small jug of orange juice and water which were empty and we had to ask to have them filled. On our third morning, despite having paid for breakfast, we missed it and drove to have a delicious breakfast elsewhere. Our Nelson room was in a fantastic position so close to the sea and the  facilities in the room were excellent. It was extremely clean and comfortable. However it was so disappointing that the only meal we had booked for each day was so disappointing.

Well situated hotel with disappointing breakfast.

Hotel is located in a good spot next to the beach in the centre of Deal.  Spacious room with comfortable bed.  Nice view along the beach to the east of Deal.  Smallish car park close to the hotel.  Reception worked well both at check in and departure.

Mod-range

So disappointed. We stay here at least once a month and always request a superior room. The room wasn’t as expected and when we complained to the manager he said that the pictures are just an example and in our example a bath could not be expected. When we asked to cancel, the manager just said it’s not policy and said we should have booked direct. There was a serious lack of empathy, customer service and no recognition of being a frequent visitor, so unfortunately we won’t stay there again. We’ve booked another hotel for our next break so we can enjoy the great places Deal has to offer, just not the Royal!

So disappointed…..

Relaxed and spacious family rooms.  Sea views and nice bar area for quick bites and drinks. would highly recommend The Royal

Brief Stay

On our visit to see Walmer Castle nearby for Valentine’s Day, my boyfriend booked a night at the Royal Hotel to turn in into a mini break. 

We had the Wellington Suite which has tall glass doors opening out onto a shared balcony overlooking Deal Beach. The room itself is huge, with a slipper bath, super king size bed and two chairs. I really liked the touch of having a coffee pod machine in the room and enough tea bags. Oh and the ‘wellington’ boots in the corner - very apt. 
Breakfast is included and the menu is really comprehensive. I really enjoyed my pancakes and other diners’ breakfasts of eggs benedict or scrambled eggs and salmon, looked equally delicious. My boyfriend however had the large English breakfast and it was very dry and over cooked. I think it was because we had a late booking and it was probably cooked earlier in the morning and kept warm. 

I think the only things that would improve the room are an extractor fan so that the bathroom window doesn’t have to stay open to de-mist the mirror - sea breezes are chilly in winter! and a mini fridge to keep water and milk cold. The hotel provided a mini flask for milk but it only holds enough for milk for 2 coffees.

Couples break

Truly pet friendly!!! Pets were welcome throughout the hotel and restaurant and we saw quite a few in addition to ours, all on good behaviour and having a lovely time. Location is perfect, views are fabulous. The restaurant on site was very good. Beds were comfortable, room was spacious. Everything was clean. I appreciated the large bath towels and soft bedsheets. We definitely plan to stay there again.

Disliked · The windows rattled which I find charming but could bother some light sleepers. Building is not super modern so lacks things like fast internet and plentiful charging ports but I think that’s part of the appeal of a more vintage property.
