Stayed in lodge 64, it was absolutely filthy. Freezer full of food debris, crockery wasn’t cleaned from previous guests, wine glasses had red wine stained over them, carpets in both bedrooms were in a terrible state with burn marks and staining. Shower had HUGE drainage problems which is disgusting. Some furnishings were damaged/broken and unacceptable. Management couldn’t care less, I was offered 15% discount on another stay……ludicrous!!! This lodge was not cleaned nor was it checked. No standards whatsoever. No why was this lodge ‘stunning’ 
Piper dam  you should be totally ashamed of the way you have NOT dealt with this complaint, your customer care/service is disgraceful. You took my money and you couldn’t care less. Would definitely NOT recommend this place.

Absolutely filthy!!!

I read the reviews before we travelled and was very apprehensive.  I have got to say we had a fantastic holiday.  The lodge was clean, plentiful towels, dishwasher tablets, excellent hot tub & sauna.  Gorgeous, quiet surroundings.  Staff plentiful and very helpful.  We enjoyed footgolf and a great value for money meal in the restaurant.  Yes the sofas may have been a bit tired looking but still comfortable, we paid a fraction of the price we pay for centre parcs in England and enjoyed it just as much.  Will definitely return. 

Don't judge by the reviews we had excellent stay

As a family we stayed in Lodge 1. 
If we had not had a substantial discount on the lodge we wouldn’t of stayed but even with the price we paid we really are very disappointed. 
1 towel for hot tub use swimming pool use & shower use. 1 toilet roll per person per stay!!!!! 
No basic amenities such as cloths hand towel & dishwasher tablets/ washing up liquid. 
The sofas were well past use in fact we didn’t use them as you may as well sit on the floor they are that old & extremely well worn. Only 2 chairs in kitchen island that were safe to sit on! 
The lodge wasn’t clean I cleaned the lodge before we unpacked - not what you expect after a day of travel. The freezer was in desperate need of defrosting. 
Such a shame as this could be an amazing place/ destination. 
We won’t be staying here again!

Never again!

Avoid at all cost this place is as bad as a local tip this place needs to be shut down and totally refurbished it's that bad don't waste your money go else where we stayed at lodge NUM 1 this was far from that broken doors holes in the walls broken TV very filthy rooms throughout hottub disgusting the lodge itself was very dark as it's was surrounded by huge  pines trees which didn't let any natural light in what so ever avoid avoid avoid at all costs 

Hell hole

Expensive for what it is. Weather was poor which isn't anyone's fault of course and there are indoor activities available but it all costs extra (I think the pool is free) which was disappointing given that cost was almost £1000 for 4 nights. There are nice places to go in the area like the children's adventure park and zoo where we went on the only sunny day, so that was lovely. The restaurant and staff are nice and the food was pretty good being a vegan. The grounds around the lodges are too rough for cycling. The most disappointing aspects was queuing for a long time to check in as there was only one person on the  front desk; and not being able to contact anyone when I arrived back home regarding a £60 water filter jug, filter, and cool bag which I left in the Lodge. They will have known who stayed at the lodge but made no attempt to return it or contact me. I tried to call numerous times but there was never anyone at the front desk who dealt with lost property to come to the phone so I gave up. I just bought a new one today which reminded me of the cost and reminded me of the poor experience last year. The pool is nice and there's a cute little jacuzzi area that even the kids can use.

Average and expensive.

I found the lodge to be good. Door was faulty onto decking and grandchildren got stuck outside, had to climb onto decking to get back in. 
I can’t believe in 2023 that the lodge does not have Wi-Fi or internet. Found the beer a bit tepid. Kids had a good time though. Segway was well enjoyed by Grandson.

Pleasant family break

We were a party of 10 staying in a 5 bed lodge from 29 December - 2 January. 

We received a text message prior to arrival which advised ‘Great news your lodge is ready early….’ We thought AMAZING and were delighted to arrive earlier than our check in time. When we checked in we were greeted with two bottles of Prosecco and thought this was a lovely gesture. 

Upon arrival, and after unpacking, we discovered that our lodge was in fact ‘not ready’. Cobwebs everywhere, mud on the underside on one of the double beds. Spat out toothpaste on one of the ensuite sinks. Pillows on one of the beds had indents in them suggesting someone had slept/had lain down on the bed. Crisps under the beds. Months and months of accumulated dust on every skirting board and under furniture which resulted in meme era of our party who were Asthmatic needing to use their inhaler on numerous occasions. Ripped sofas. Pubic hair found in one of the showers. Blocked showers and lights not working. Floor badly in need of a good clean. 

The whole place had most definitely not been checked prior to our arrival and in our opinion had not been ‘lived in’ for weeks if not months. The cleaning issues were reported to reception and the bare essentials were dealt with - clean bedsheets on one of the beds - sink cleaned and a few cobwebs dusted away. The cleaning staff that came round were apologetic and advised they ‘couldn’t understand why we were told our lodge was ready when it clearly wasn’t’ Maintenance also came and fixed our broken interior lights but these broke again less than 24 hours after their visit. It should be noted that at no point was a deep clean offered. We would have gladly left our lodge for a few hours if it had meant it would have been cleaned to acceptable standards. 

The whole place needed a DEEP CLEAN and why anyone thinks that the lodge we stayed in was acceptable to paying customers is beyond me. It was filthy!! 

I am sure if management from the resort see this they will comment with ‘our staff dealt with you concerns’ but our concern was that, as a business you thought our lodge was fit for guests and it most certainly was not and this is very concerning that you think the standard be arrived to was acceptable. No guest should have to deal with spat out toothpaste and pubic hair on arrival!!

Furthermore, we had a toddler with us and he found a small plastic disc (size of a 5p piece) under a table in the main living area and he almost swallowed this. This disc had nothing to do with our party and was yet again a sign that the lodge had not been cleaned. 

The resort is marketed as a 4 star holiday destination but there is no Wi-Fi  (unless at the main resort) and no mobile signal. Someone tried to call a member of our party as a matter of urgency due to a family emergency and could not get in contact with anyone in the lodge due to their being no Wi-Fi and no signal. They did call the main reception but due to the timings of their call, no one was available to answer (approx 2am)  this could have been avoided if there was basic Wi-Fi in each lodge. You cannot market yourself as 4 star resort when, in 2023, there is no Wi-Fi which you can get nowadays on something as simple as public transport. 

It should be noted that all our complaints and concerns have been put in writing to Piperdam but they haven’t even had the decency to acknowledge our complaint.

I, along with the rest of our party, will certainly not be recommending piperdam to anyone and will not be making a return visit. 

The resort is in dire need of a huge injection of cash to bring the lodges up to basic living standards but I suspect that the current owners have allowed it to deteriorate so much, this will sadly not be possible. 

A copy of our complaint has also been forwarded to the environmental health department of our local council for their information and action should they see fit.

Dated, dirty and disgusting!!!

We visited in between Christmas and New Year 2022. Group of 18 family members in 5 separate lodges.  General consensus was that the lodges required upgrades to the furniture and lighting. The roads all over the complex were in a shocking condition with enormous pot holes everywhere and actually dangerous trying to walk at night as the lighting outside is very dim. Noticed that some people were offered torches when issued with their keys so make sure you request one. The bar and restaurant was fine and we enjoyed the spa. The lodges were sold at a reduced rate but I certainly would not pay the full price as the site requires investment.

Some improvements required

It was our second trip after  12 year gap and stayed in the Vegas again with friends. Overall it was good but when we arrived there were dirty towels left, bins unemptied and broken furniture left in the games room.
The whole lodge needs a good update. Pots and pans all old and tatty, radiators are rusty, cupboard doors are hanging off, panels on the outside either loose or off completely, all the games are old and weathered with bits missing. Another useful addition would be charging points for cars at each lodge.

Overall it was good and the staff were really helpful and we would return but for the price you pay for the vegas, we would wait until it had been updated.

Good but dated lodges

The lochside lodges are in an amazing location but are accessed by a very poor dimly lit potholed road which are a nightmare to drive or walk along. 

The lodge itself could be amazing but a lack of maintenance lets it down massively. 
-ripped sofa in lounge 
-damaged chair in lounge
-kitchen sink doesn’t drain properly
-patio door handle in lounge snapped off so door doesn’t open
-broken dishwasher
-stained chairs in bedroom
-poor repairs beside radiator in bedroom
-cobwebs around light fittings

We live locally but booked this ‘premier’ accommodation as a base during our own bathroom renovations. I booked around 10 weeks ahead of our visit at a cost of £852. Around 4 weeks prior to the trip I noted that the process has reduced quite dramatically by almost £300 which was disappointing to realise we had overpaid. 

On arrival we were checked in and given a key being told housekeeping has just finished. On entry the first thing we noted was the smell of drains from the downstairs shower room. There is no way that housekeeping could not have noticed this given they had just left the lodge. This got worse over the 5 day stay and was not resolved despite speaking to reception twice. Maintenance came out once but all they did was run the taps for a couple of minutes with didn’t help much. The drain smell was also noticeable in one of the other bathrooms and the bedroom. Reception promised air fresheners but these did not appear. 

The lodge is supposed to come with free wifi. On arrival we were given no information on this and were unable to connect to the wifi that was appearing. It took 3 visits to Reception on day 2 to obtain the correct wifi codes for the dongle. The prepayment dongle then ran out of credit on day 4 and we had to ask for it to be topped up. 

It was getting to the stage where we realised that visiting reception wasn’t getting us anywhere with the issues so we instead contacted management by email on our return home. Almost 2 weeks later I have received a reply which says that they do monitor furnishings and standards of accommodation but it is not always possible to repair/replace before the next guests arrive. Apologies were given for the cleanliness, wifi issues and lack of resolution to the smell. 

As an outcome Piperdam have offered me 15% off a future stay as recompense for the issues we encountered. This offer is frankly ill thought out and a joke considering the level of issues we encountered. It should be noted that all returning guests get 10 % reduction from a repeat stay. I am astounded that management feel an offer of me paying them any more money is actually anywhere near reasonable. 

I’ve attached photos of many of the issues around the lodge and would suggest management take them seriously before expecting more guests to pay to stay here.
