Went for down to have a cup of coffee at 10.30am on Sunday morning to be told very curtly that check our was 10.30am........I explained that no one had told us that previously, and we would pack up and check out immediately......
We came down 25 mins later to pay our bill, and after paying noticed on the receipt that they had charged £25 late check out fee!
I queried this as it was £1 per minute......basically the guy shrugged his shoulders and walked away.


Good place spoiled by sneaky charges

I stayed at the George with my son after walking 12 miles across the South Downs. We had the warmest of welcomes in this lovely old pub in East Meon, which is well worth a visit. All the staff were convivial and very helpful with directions for our walk the next day, finding the time to talk about village history. Our room was comfortable and the breakfasts were generous and excellent quality. Our experience at the George helped create wonderful memories of walking in the stunning Meon valley - many thanks.

Welcoming stay at beautiful olde Inn...

Had to prebook the meals as we had a party of 9 people . Got told we could order starters on the phone when we got there . We arrived 10 mins late for the booking and got tried to get some starters and was told our main were already being cooked ! Food was good quality but the experience was very poor . Sat down for 10 mins then food on the table and out the door in another 15 . 

Was the experience I expect at McDonalds . Very impersonal and fast rushed in and out !

Good food terrible service

This is my 2nd stay here...stayed the previous year, and still love this place. It's in a great location in a lovely quiet village. Nice looking pub, friendly staff, good food and nice beer. The rooms are comfy enough...only thing is if you are 6foot you will need to bend down to get under the shower. I stayed here to go walking in the area last year and this time returned with my wife. It didn't disappoint. Look forward to staying there again. We were also lucky...i saw that after the weekend that we stayed they had to close Sunday/mondays due to staff shortages...like so many other pubs and restaurants.

My second stay...still just as good

Last minute totally random booking by us for 12August , Lovely old pub ,lovely beer,very friendly and helpful staff with  nice food... Room was comfy and clean ..
 Only complaint was expensive for the amount of time we were there, however that was our fault.. Note to self get there earlier next time.... And there will be a next time.  Looking forward to making a booking in the winter and sitting near one of those huge fire places

Lovely

Booked a large double, room well decorated and very clean. Which was very welcome after a long walk from Winchester on the South Downs way. 
Good value for money, staff were friendly and very safely conscious. 
Food was delicious both for the evening meal and breakfast.

What can I say, lovely pub, nice location in a pretty village. Nice beer and food, very friendly staff. Comfy room. Nice breakfast.  Will definitely stay there again.
Note, as an older pub if you are over 6ft you might have to bend for the shower. No big deal. Only complaint, I had such a nice time I wanted to stay another night but they were fully booked 😊

Wonderful pub

The food was delicious and the service excellent. A lovely pub in Meon that is a real gem.  The menu was really varied and a great place to eat after walking across from Petersfield. We didn't get another chance to visit the pub while staying close by but can say that the staff and facilities was excellent.
We stayed at Langrish House and not at the Inn so unable to comment too much on the accommodation offered.

Delightful country pub!

My boyfriend and I visited on Thursday last week and were so impressed we brought out five friends and dog back along with us on Saturday. The food is excellent; fresh, home cooked and delicious. We were all very impressed (particularly by the fish and chips!) The staff were really friendly and accommodating of our large group, despite the challenges that social distancing creates. Thanks for the great service! 

Fabulous food

I was staying here this week whilst working nearby. Unfortunately I turned up around 3.30pm to check in and found the place closed. Had a two hour wait in the car park before somebody appeared to let me in. Surely if you are providing accommodation there should be a facility to let people in throughout the day. I tried ringing but to no avail. The room was dated and also very dusty. The bedside cabinet was covered in dust. I know it’s meant to be old style but a clean wouldn’t go a miss. Struggled to get any hot water in the shower which was hugely disappointing. Also a lot of noise downstairs and adjacent room which meant I got little sleep. Really disappointed. The food downstairs was superb for which I have done a separate review. Sadly I wouldn’t return.
