My husband and I along with our three adult children stayed for one night when we first arrived in Scotland. It was only 10 minutes from the airport in a nice little neighborhood. We had a comfortable family room for 5, adequate breakfast .. a good place to take off from for our two week tour. We came back to Costorphine House for our final three days to explore Edinburgh. It is right on the AirLink 100 bus line between the airport and the City Centre making it a short 20 minute ride into the city and much more affordable than more pricey downtown lodgings. Nothing remarkable, but comfortable and convenient.

Very convenient and reasonable lodgings

We arrived at 7.30pm after a very long day, travelling from France via Switzerland and England, with delayed flights and problems. All we wanted was a bed for the night after a tiring day. We hadn’t booked, but knocked on the door. Januz, who seems to do almost everything at the hotel, welcomed us kindly, then showed an available room, made the sign-in process simple, then took our cases upstairs.

The room was very big, airy and light, with two windows,  and en suite, table, desk, etc. Coffee, tea, etc is provided. Wifi was fine and free. The room was quiet as it faced out to the back of the building, away from the street. We wanted dinner, so popped into the bar. I thought in trepidation that it would be a bar with lots of noise and hubbub, but turns out it was just a lounge room of the hotel - perfect! We were the only guests in it and could chill, with a drink, a book and TV. Januz said we could order from the bar menu. He made an excellent omelette for me, and was accomodating about us bringing our own pre-bought salad. 

Breakfast next morning was standard British hotel fare, freshly prepared by Januz. It is included eggs, , coffee, etc. All fine. 

This was just the restful and easy stopover we needed after a huge day, before heading north. 

I would certainly recommend this hotel. It isn’t it in the city centre, but the city is easily accessible by bus. In fact the hotel was recommended to me at the airport by a lady who commented that hotels in the city would be a lot more expensive. This was good value indeed. Thanks Januz!

Perfectly fine! Great service!

Booked at very short notice, initially for just one night but decided to extend stay for another.  Very friendly and helpful staff and made to feel very welcome. Room was good size and spotlessly clean. Although its about 5km form city centre, bus connections 12, 26 and 31 work very well. Only slight grumble would be that the bed was not the most comfortable ever. That said, I slept well and would certainly come back again.

Great for weekend break, incl Zoo

Quite far out of the centre hence very affordable but that is not the only reason for it's cheap price as I quickly found out. Rooms are clean but a bit run down, and pretty chilly - not to mention noisy at the front. Beds felt like they belonged in a student digs with miniature quilts that were light and very synthetic! Breakfast was interesting, it felt very hostel like - I asked for cooked breakfast but had to get the eggs myself after I had eaten everything else! Cheap produce served in ample supply with pretty ropey luke-warm coffee. I would say this place is perfect for stag dos or if you are really stuck over festival/new year period but don't expect any frills! Staff are friendly though - it's not their fault!!!

Avoid unless on a stag weekend

A little dated in decor and would benefit from a update particularly in the bathroom department. However, having said this, this was a business trip and everything was completely serviceable and fit for purpose.

If you're looking for modern boutique hotel you will be sadly disappointed but if you are looking for value for money and a functional and comfortable stay then this hotel will deliver at a budget price. 

I stayed for three nights in room 25. Road traffic noise was audible but not sufficient enough to wake me after a long day following business meetings! 

WiFi was free but my connection was inconsistent sometime not connecting at all.

No free car parking onsite but nearby roads offer free parking within a 2 min walk from the hotel's front door.

Breakfast was excellent hot and cold typical breakfast menu was offered, although I did find it slightly odd to have vegetable spring rolls and vegetable samosas offered as standard accompaniments on the vegetarian cooked breakfast menu. Staff where happy to adjust this as desired. Good overall choice offered with something available for everyone. 

Has a small bar at the back of the hotel but you need to find a member of staff to serve you a drink. Had a small bottle of beer which was offered without a glass so a little attention to some small detail needed.

Housemade service excellent, on my first day I'd left a few pounds in change on the bed as a tip for the housemaid, when I returned it had been carefully replaced on the bedside cabinet. I left a note the next day with it clearly indicating a tip for my gratitude, a very grateful comment was written at the bottom of this as the recipient was clearly not customized to receiving tokens of gratitude. How reassuringly honest of the staff here not to assume that money left out was indeed atip for them, even though it was!

Thanks for a pleasant stay and keep pushing to raise standards. I would be happy to stay at this hotel again.

'Three' star hotel (2 star) with four star service

The Corstorphine hotel located in peaceful area of Edinburgh. Built in the late 1880, the Victorian Villas form peace and tranquility and you will enjoy calm and quiet surroundings. Easily approachable from City Centre and Airport.
