Excellent base to explore Edinburgh. Short walk from the centre and close to all amenities such as food and drink places, park, supermarket etc. Clean room, very quiet at night, good shower and bathroom. There was kettle and tea/ coffee provision too: Great value and would recommend.

Clean and quiet guest house

Me and a couple mates were heading down to Edinburgh for a couple of days and decided to stay at the Braveheart. Checking in was quick, easy and efficient and the staff were really friendly and made our stay incredibly pleasant, this was our first time in Edinburgh too and the Braveheart had a genuinely welcoming and cosy atmosphere. The rooms were perfectly adequate for what we were looking for, the beds were comfy, the WIFI was decent and the bathroom was clean. The purpose of our trip was to look around the city and due to its excellent location this was made easy for us. It was about a fifteen minute walk to Bristo Square so we found that really useful. The best part for me was the six pound breakfast,  really good range of food available and was warm, fresh coffee, the entire guest house was really good value for money. Really excellent guesthouse

Had a lovely stay in this great great house over the weekend. It’s location is perfect. Within walking distance to the old town but far enough away to be in the less busier part of the city. Breakfast was fantastic with a full range of cereals and cooked items, they even had gluten free cereals which my ceoliac wife was very pleased about. We stayed in room 19 on the top floor, it was clean and well equipped. Overall it is a great value for money guesthouse and I wouldn’t hesitate in booking again if we ever get back to Edinburgh! Great value for money guesthouse

My friend and I stayed in the Braveheart Guesthouse for 4 nights while visiting the Edinburgh Fringe. The owners were so welcoming and friendly, making the experience and the traditional Scottish decor feel truly homely. Our twin single beds were very comfy and the room had all the amenities we needed, along with a modern en-suite bathroom. We stayed in the Blair Castle room, which ironically is a castle I have visited for most of my childhood. The location was also perfect, with walkable distances to the must-see places of Old Town Edinburgh. 

Finally as two young women we felt very safe in this guesthouse as the doors were always locked and you required your own key to get in and out - as well as someone always manning the main reception room. 

I highly recommend you stay in this lovely guesthouse :)

The perfect home away from home

Our room was spotless,lovely shower, breakfast spoilt for choice everything you needed,to get your stamina up for the day walking around Edinburgh, nothing was too much trouble for thee owner not sure what his name was, but he came from Kurdistan in early eighties,definitely keeping details of the brave heart Gilmore place for next time

great place

Fabulous stay here for my husband, daughter and myself. Lovely and clean, great location and very friendly hosts. We paid for the breakfast and it was absolutely lovely.We can’t wait to return.  Thinking we may come back for a few days in October. 😊

Long Weekend 

The receptionist is very accommodating and nice. I and my friend had a great stay here! Very clean room and nice toilet. They also serve great food for breakfast while staff are keenly hygienic because of this pandemic! This is the best guest house in the city and very affordable!

Amazing guest house and very accessible to the city

We enjoyed our stay here, the staff were friendly and the beds were super comfy. The room although quite small was just what we needed for the weekend. The TV didn't work very well, but this wasn't an issue as we didn't watch any real time tv, we just watched catch up on our phones. We told the lady of this before we left, so hopefully it is now fixed. We didn't have breakfast here, so can't comment on that. Very good location, we walked everywhere we wanted to go from here. Would stay again.

Pleasant Stay

Mixed bag but overall great stay.  We stayed in the family room which was huge but let down by the flaking paint and cheap furniture which is a real shame because it wouldn’t need that much money spent on it to make it really nice. Tv in the room was great and the beds were really comfy and good quality bedding and pillows for the price of the room. The bathroom was tiny but had everything you needed, water was always hot and the shower was decent size. Unfortunately it had mold and mildew on the tiles and seal, the mirror and decor in there just let it down. Again it wouldn’t cost a fortune to fix these problems and a really good clean would make the world of difference. The room was basic and pretty dusty but as we didn’t plan to spend a lot of time there, it  perfect for what we needed. However, if you can’t handle traffic noise don’t stay in that room. There were ear plugs provided but the single pane glass windows and wooden shutter did nothing to drown the noise of passing drunks in the early hours and the building work going on across the road. Luckily for us we live close to a main road so the noise didn’t bother us too much but could see how it would be a problem for others. The staff were friendly, we were greeted immediately on arrival and payment was taken for us to park our car there for 2 days. The location was good, not too far from anything and lots of places to eat close by. Finally the breakfast, toast some cooked breakfast a few boxes of cereal and yoghurt. No pastries pates cold meats or fruit like the brochure advertised. So not great if your vegan like one of us. The other 3 of us are vegetarian so it was eggs and toast for us while my meat eating husband enjoyed his cooked breakfast (buffet style) overall it was ok, good for the price and plenty of it, coffee was good but again if your vegan/vegetarian I’d try and get breakfast elsewhere. 
To summarise we enjoyed our first visit to Edinburgh and would stay at the braveheart b&b again, the positive were the  price and super comfy beds. Negatives cleaniness and outside noise.
