Bruce charged me both online and in person. I made frequent  calls to be refunded but he never got back to me. Amenities were also bad. Who DOES this!? What a lousy way to do business. So many honest and charming places to choose from. Steer clear of this one.

Want to Be Ripped Off?

Our stay in the Mayville Guesthouse was just perfect. We needed to find a last-minute accommodation due to difficulties with another apartment. Although it was almost midnight, the host welcomed us warmly and two minutes later we were in our room. We had the twin room which was very cosy and authentic. Everything was clean and the beds were comfy.
The breakfast was free and considerable and the breakfast room is just lovely. We absolutely felt comfortable and recommend this beautiful B&B with a very friendly host to anyone who visits Edinburgh.

Beautiful and Authentic B&B

We loved this accommodation and wished we could have stayed more nights here! The gentleman who manages it is very friendly, helpful, and interesting to talk to. The continental breakfast was fresh and tasty and the house itself is old, but kept up and beautiful. Our room (2 double beds) was typically small, but well furnished with comfortable beds, tv, wifi, and a clean en suite toilet/shower room. Beautiful view of the back yard area from our window. 30 min walk to central Edinburgh (Royal Mile) straight down the street. 15 min to Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat. Nice residential area. Took an Uber to the Airport at the cost of 17 pounds. We would definitely recommend this to other travelers and would stay again should we return to Edinburgh.

Excellent Value and Location

The host was the nicest person you could wish too meet but the room we had was dirty and dingy it had terrible smell about the room and you were in bed and could hear people breathing in dinning room it's in ideal location but I think it's worth paying a bit more too stay in a clean room it's shame as from the front off building it looks lovely only advantage it's not far from town as I said before the host was a real gentleman but that's all that was good about it .

LOCATION
Easy access by bus (£1.6/ride, no change), can also walk from Edinburgh Waverley station but quite far tho, around 30 mins. Close to Sainsbury’s Local (5 mins) and many local coffee shops along the street. If you are nature lovers, highly recommend to visit the Holyrood Park with less than 15 mins walk. 

ROOM & FACILITIES
Loved the hotel and the room at first sight, fancy interior design like staying in a secret garden. Clean and comfortable double bed, with TV and extra heater which could place it next to the bed, so perfect that fully recharged my energy after a tired day trip. But the bathroom was really a nightmare, the ventilation system was too noisy just like a helicopter above your head and ready to explode, water supply always low pressure (= no water) or even if water available only last for less than 5 mins, didn’t get a proper bath for 2 days. 

FRIENDLY REMINDER
Please inform hotel in case of late arrival. I booked from Agoda and mentioned with 24h front desk, but when I arrived at 11pm no staff on floor and front door was locked, luckily I left a message when I booked it and the key was left at the main entrance. I wonder if they have a proper front desk as I didn't meet any staff for the whole stay until I checked out, I gave back the key to the staff who was only standing by the door...
