Nice old building, very friendly staff.
We stopped for valentine's night, the valentine's menu was not on the website before we arrived, in fact we only found out that night.
We had a nice chat with one of the managers who explained how they are updating/modernising the rooms, so if some reviews bring this up then it is in hand.
The food was excellent. Steaks cooked to perfection.
The deserts were very good as well 
All in all a good stay/experience.
I would not hesitate to recommend and look forward to going back soon.

Went to Old Ferry Boat Inn for Mothers Day.  Very disappointed as when we got there at 5.30pm we were told that they had run out of Fish and Chips.  The food was very average and the service was shocking.  The young boys were very inefficient kept asking us what the table number was when we had clearly told them a couple of times. We had to wait ages before the plates were cleared even when the place was very quiet.  It was if they had finished their shift.  I will not be going back there again.

A very relaxing break in the Old Ferry Boat Inn with helpful, pleasant and professional staff. The food and service was excellent, and the pub and restaurent was warm and wecoming as soon as you walked in.  Our bed was very comfortable for our two night stay. A Pleasant Break...

Disappointing lunch visit. Seated quickly and bar service was ok however after an hour of waiting our food had still not arrived and tables seated after our arrival seemed to be receiving theres. Upon querying where our food we were told it was just coming out. Another 10 minutes and the food had quite obviously been sat on the hot pass as numerous vegetables were dry, dehydrated and overcooked.
We were planning on having dessert but didnt fancy a 3 day wait for crumble.

Disappointing

We very much enjoyed our stay here, this was our second time returning in under 8 weeks. The rural setting of this hotel is brilliant for walking around the local area. We even managed to do some bird watching from our bedroom window! 

Holywell is a small and quiet village, just a short drive from St Ives which is well served by the park & ride bus into central Cambridge (£3.50/return).  The rooms are small but comfortable and they were clean, my husband was very impressed by how comfortable the beds were. 

We enjoyed several meals here all of which were tasty and well cooked with generous portion sizes. We also enjoyed their breakfasts which were great value for money! 

The absolute highlight of our stay were the friendly and helpful staff, Team Leader Julia was warm and welcoming and happy to tell us more about the local area and recommend local eateries and activities as well! 

All in all, a brilliant option for couples visiting Cambridge and the local area!

Countryside Retreat

Clean and comfortable, great choice of breakfast options. Lovely pub, quiet and peaceful by the river. Two nicely kept real ales. Nice meals available in the evening from friendly staff. If you like peace and quiet stay here.

Beautiful, comfortable inn, delicious food, and extra-friendly staff. Highly recommend the chicken sandwich or chicken tenders - AMAZING! Why not 5 stars then? No AC - I'm American and I need my AC - but I reckon that's a UK thing, not an Old Ferry Boat thing.

We stayed here for one night en route from the southeast to Lincoln. 
Charming bar, helpful and friendly staff and really good food. Had Cajun chicken in a basket, chicken was lovely and loads of chips. Lettuce was a bit tired but tomatoes and onions fresh, nice salad dressing. Partner had sea bass and scallops with prawn and pea risotto. He said it was lovely and scallops were perfectly cooked, lots of prawns.  Food was piping hot. Puddings good. Nice drop of Abbot ale. We enjoyed the Chapel Down English sparkling wine, which was a  very good price! 
We were upgraded to a bigger room which was a blessing, as the original room was very poky. Was a bit of a shock to be in a double bed as we have a super king size at home, but it was comfortable and bedding  was laundered and ironed. Shower was good and hot in the morning. Decor a little tired but clean.  Could do with a mirror in the bedroom for hair drying.
There is a very strong wet-dog smell in the stairwell up to the bedrooms, probably due to it being enclosed top and bottom with fire doors. Needs a deep clean and some sort of ventilation. Was really quite unpleasant ( and we’re dog owners!).

Stop-over

Good to see our local recovering from a bad patch in the past. New chefs and bar staff have obviously improved standards.
Food was very good and served quickly. We had three courses and all well presented and tasty.
Cheerful and helpful staff.
Lovely sitting outside watching the river at the end of summer.

Been here 3 times before and it was good .but the service this time was really slow. We waited nearly an hour for 2 x main courses! Didn't gave any starters. 
The pub was not that busy..not good service
Food was ok when it finally arrived...we had to ask when it would arrive.. otherwise we would have just been sitting there.  Pub needs to look at its service and time taken to get food out of the kitchen
