I thought I’d try a second time as I thought they may just be having an off day but no.

Not really sure why the new owners have chosen to buy the place as they could be less unwelcoming. The man behind the bar told me the second time that he’s left a perfectly good job to work there and he doesn’t like people. That’s after waiting the ten minutes for him to get off his phone. Sat out the back where there were about 5 other customers all pretty perplexed by his miserable attitude. Also nearly witnessed a fight as they seem to let any scum bag in there. As we left also witnessed a miserable woman (owner) arguing with a customer about the man’s attitude. 

Go somewhere else. He doesn’t like you lol

Misery tomb

We booked a night through Booking.com as we were visiting friends who live in Sandgate. The hotel is perfectly located, on the high street with the back entrance a short walk from the sea front. They also have a car park. 
We were checked in by the owner, I believe, who could have shown more customer friendliness. 
When we first saw our room my wife felt the decoration and bedding to be a bit dated. Strangely there was more plant based milk than normal milk for a cup of tea, but they happily gave us a small jug of real milk for the morning. We had a room at the front but didn’t have a problem with road noise. The toilet seat was a cheap plastic affair. 
To be fair it got better from there on. The room was a decent size, the bed was extremely comfortable and the shower excellent. 
The TV did have a slightly annoying signal glitch, but we only watched it for a while in the morning. 
The high street, for the size of the town, has a good selection of bars cafes and restaurants. 
We would stay again, if the owner will have us after this review.

Perfect location

Very good accommodation together with friendly and great food and a good selection of beers and wines, well done Debbie and the gang.We will certainly return whenFolkestone Rowing Club hold the South Coast Rowing Championships again.

Lovely place to stay

We stayed here for 2 nights. Our room (castle view room) was very large, beautifully decorated and very clean.  The shower was great and the bed comfy. Breakfast was extra, but freshly cooked and very tasty. Alternatively, bowls and cutlery were provided and there is a fridge in the room. We also ate in the hotel one evening, the food was very good.

Great stay

Excellent in all respects , staff ,friendly nothing too much trouble , cleanliness 10/10 , food 10/10. Bed 10/10, rooms and bathroom the same . Parking on site FREE . Bus stop both ways outside Hotel , no need to use car and pay costal parking prices . Wifi reasonably fast and also free . No problem with noise from the bar or road . Only down side was there was not many places to eat in walking distance of an evening . Folkstone a couple of miles away , easy on the bus . Will definitely visit the Hotel again  and hopefully soon . Pete and Colleen , so much easier and better than the cost of our usual stay in Brighton . Recommend to all . stairs only to 1st & second floors 23/08/23  

Best hotel we have experienced in   S E England

Great location and everything was spotlessly clean. Great location for those wishing to visit the beach. Unfortunately I was there for work so didn't have the time.
When I arrived it was to find I had been upgraded to a lovely room. That was a very nice surprise.
Although the hotel is next to a busy road I wasn't disturbed by traffic noise and the bed was big and comfortable.
Very relaxed atmosphere in a good way.

Spotlessly clean and lovely friendly staff

Stayed in top floor room with sea view for one night as a birthday treat as I love being by the sea & Sandgate especially, welcomed by lovely owner, offered complimentary hot drink & kindly took our bags to room whilst we enjoyed a drink outside in the sunshine, such a lovely welcome & start to our stay. The room was perfect, spacious  & so clean.  Thank you so much, I will be back!

Birthday surprise

Stayed for just one night, over the weekend. The owner,  Georgia was fantastic accommodating myself, wife and 2daughters. The rooms were nice and spacious with modern fixtures and fittings. Spotlessly clean.  Fantastic stay,will be back. Many thanks.

Fantastic atmosphere

After booking a family trip for bank holiday weekend, the host cancelled with only two days notice (this was another hotel). Luckily we found the Royal Norfolk hotel, we didn’t have many options and this was the only hotel available however when we got here we was instantly blown away. The rooms are very large, very modern, and absolutely beautiful. This is a family run hotel/restaurant pub and the owners are very friendly and helpful. We are lucky to have found this hotel and we will definitely come back.  We are actually happy the previous accommodation cancelled, because this hotel is just wonder and has perfect views of the sea. We travelled into dymchurch yesterday and also spent some time in sangate. 

Lovely experience and will definitely come back.

Wow! Wonderful

We stayed at The Royal Norfolk Hotel and used it as a base to explore nearby places such as Canterbury and Dover. It was an easy drive, with most attractions like the White Cliffs of Dover within a 30-45min drive. We booked a budget double room which, while small, was a good room with a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. There is no fridge in the room, but there is a TV and a kettle with some milk, etc in sachets. Staff came in during our stay and made the beds, replaced toiletries, etc. The beach is literally behind the hotel, so it’s lovely to be able to go for walks along the beach whenever you want. Check in was fairly easy, and we liked that there were COVID checks such as sanitiser at the front door and a temperature check. Check out was contactless. Beware that the hotel is on a main street so there may be a struggle to find parking!
