Thank you for a great stay, nothing was a hassle for the staff, they were all very friendly! Great extra touches for families such as children’s colouring, games, swimming pool and hot tub! Rooms were very spacious, im very tall so the shower was a squeeze to get under but there was a bath also so i used that! Breakfast was perfect with multiple options.

Fabulous Family Stay

I see a lot of harsh words in the reviews. And I do agree that the accomodation could use some maintenance/upgrading.

But…

Niek and Beatrice are the best of people. Very easy to approach. Always a smile. Ready to handle any request you may have. Need a bus card? Want advice on what to do on Guernsey? Need a table at The Deerhound? No problem.

Their breakfast is the best I have had for a long time. Freshly made toast and avocado,  omelette, croque madame. All excelent. Oh, and English breakfast too (the horror, for a Continental European).

Best breakfast ever

The hotel was not of the standard that it portrayed in the advertisement. 
Very dated and extremely bad bathroom fittings. The toilet seat was wobbly and badly stained. The shower head over the bath had very low pressure. The bath was badly stained. The furniture was old and cluttered. The bed was comfortable and bedding clean. The breakfast was good. 
However in general it was not good value for money. Overpriced and I would not recommend it. 

An old and dated hotel

Disappointed with hotel and particularly  our room due to outdated decor and furniture that was just not very nice.Really depressing environment for a holiday. Not enough plugs by the beds for phone and a lamp with no socket. Bed with no headboard. Looked very different from family room in Booking.com photos.
Breakfast ok but flies on meats and cheese left out uncovered. If food ran out it was not replaced so you had to get there early to guarantee a croissant. Asked if we could have breakfast in the brighter conservatory area, as the dining room was dark. Told no as tables too small for three people  although there was a table for six which the very next day had been given to 3 people in another room. 
The garden area looks scruffy. 
It was drab and disappointing and looking at previous reviews dating back years nothing’s going to change. We won’t be back and would not recommend. 

Disappointed 

My friend and I, found ourselves stranded at Guernsey Airport, as we missed our ferry to Sark. Accommodation was scarce, as The Island Games were on. The hotel had a cancellation and Niek  was so kind and helpful, even collecting us from the airport. He also booked us a meal at the nearby Deerhound. Breakfast was very good. We were sorry to have to rush away, to get the ferry  in the morning. We didn't have the time for a dip in the hotel pool, which looked very inviting. An excellent experience. 

Outstanding service 

Fabulous location with great public transport outside the hotel. Owners and staff were extremely professional, super friendly, helpful and courteous. Bed was really comfortable, nice bathroom, lovely natural light and breeze through window. 
Breakfast each morning was sensational, really good selection to choose from, yummy croissants and Full English breakfast huge, hot and delicious. Glad I hiked every day to burn it off.
The 15% discounted dinner meal at The Deerhound pub was fabulous. Food was amazing and staff excellent.

I had the most wonderful stay at Le Chene and will definitely return. Thank you for making holiday to Guernsey wonderful xxx

A Fabulous Holiday

Very outdated. Old, smelly room, like an old damp barn. Tired gardens. Rude and miserable staff. The breakfast was inedible, one of the worst I have had. To make this worth a stay this hotel needs to hire a chef, a gardener and a cleaner. Would not recommend. 

Very poor

Hmm not sure where to start here but here are the positives.
1) large room,  2) fridge,  3) large tv,  4)bath  5) breakfast and location. 

We had heard mixed reviews about the hotel but decided to stay.
 Upon arrival, the hotel entrance hall looked a little tired however this was nothing compared to how dated and tired the actual room looked.

 We paid quite alot of money compared to various other hotels only to be told that the swimming pool was out of action which was the main reason for choosing this hotel over the others. No Recompense at all was offered and they still wanted to charge for jacuzzi and steam room of which we did not use out of principle. 

The garden needed alot of TLC and like the hotel would need alot of effort to make it look beautiful and welcoming. 

The staff were pleasant enough but seemed to be doing their duty. 
I would not advise anyone to stay at this hotel unless it was for one night only as it is close to the airport. This was not a relaxing environment to be in for a holiday.

Swimming pool out of action

Our room smelt of sewage and we complained as we couldnt sleep in it. We were moved to another room but told we could only stay for one night, as they were fully booked. We were given a refund for the other nights but   no help or advice   in finding other accomodation. We did find somewhere luckily, but only because we new of the new premier inn.   The Hotel is cheaper than some but not value for money. It is in need of a drastic upgrade. Its shabby and our room was dirty. Wallpaper coming off walls, rust in the bathroom and just dirty. The staff appeared friendly and the breakfast was fine. We have been to Guernsey a few times and there are better places to stay for around the same money.

Not great

22 of us stayed here for one night on a Saturday in April. Niek and Ank were incredibly helpful regarding all our needs, including ferrying our luggage to the airport (a short 10 min walk). A simple and good value place to stay on the island.
