First of all the food was absolutely amazing!!!!! The lovely lady Jackie who was our server on the Saturday morning was fabulous... she is a asset to the place. 
The only downside to our stay was the beds. Woke up very bent up and felt like i was 90 years old.
However...We would return for the fantastic food and the amazing service from Jackie and her equally lovely daughter.

We were greeted with a very warm welcome.  All the staff were friendly and helpful at all times.  The pub was warm and welcoming. The food excellent, with a special mention of the pies .
The accommodation was very disappointing though.  The room was very small, cold and not clean.  The TV was the tiniest TV ever, perched high up on a makeshift shelf.  There was nowhere to put your things, except the floor.  This includes putting the landlords own cushions etc off the bed when ready for sleep.  The room had old, tatty laminate flooring, which had it been wet outside, would have been soaked,  then where they'd expect you to put your bags and their bedding items, I don't know.
The shower room was very cold and dirty.  The shower didn't work, either boiling hot or freezing cold.  Plus the shower tray had a large crack through it.  
After the pub, food and staff this was all very disappointing.  Shame, we won't be going again.

Great pub and food.  Bad accommodation

We only stayed one night en route to Devon and were made very welcome from start to finish. All the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and professional. Our evening meal (from the Pie menu!) was absolutely delicious and even offered a gluten free option which was wonderful. To be honest we had difficulty choosing our meal as there was so much we would have liked to try! The pub (good selection of drinks) itself was warm, inviting, comfortable  & cosy...we really could not fault it. Our room, if a little on the chilly side, was clean &  had all we needed. The bed was very comfortable and the shower hot. Breakfast the next morning was superb and it was great to chat to Rich, the chef. We would stay again...if only for the wonderful food.

Went new years eve the food was out of this world and the night was good the staff are extremely friendly the only thing was the bedroom was a bit cold but the place is lovely and cosy loads of places to visit went to Ross on Wye Very nice

We were searching for somewhere to spend a Christmas break.What a treasure we found in The Farmers Boy Inn.There was 12 in our party and a dog and the FBI team were exceptional. All the meals were first class.Tasty,hot and plenty of choice. The rooms  were en-suite, clean and comfortable,warm and inviting.I cannot complement the staff enough.Although super busy they always went that extra mile to make our stay so memorable.A special Thankyou to Richard the Chef and to Phil the Manager who always found time for our group.Well done The Farmers Boy!!

A great Christmas getaway

This report is, to the best of my knowledge, accurate, but is my interpretation only .....
Valentine's Day, and my wife and I were taking a drive, and came across this pub close to where the A40 is temporarily closed.
We did not want lunch, but thought we would take a look at the menu .....
A complicated and bias form I believe, from the company who sells the pies .....there only seemed to be 'pies' on the menu, but what caught my eye was the price .....£18 pp, and this seemed to be the standard price !!

also, in contrast to a usual pint of Guinness, this seemed 'weak' .....
Sorry, but we won't venture that way again .....

Not the best ....

Finally, I made it, having mistakenly booked the wrong dates two weeks ago.  The FB allowed me to rebook for this visit, on the morning of the expected check-in, without cancellation charge.  Thank you.

A pleasant evening, nice atmosphere, good food and excellent service.   Some really tasty plant-based options for dinner.  Not much vegan choice for breakfast but the team did try their best to rustle something up.  No need as I had checked in advance and brought my own.

Appreciate the attitude and service.

A lovely room, away from the road, nice big bed & everything I needed. My dog was made very welcome in the room & the bar  & the chef made me a different meal due to my garlic intolerance. The staff were friendly & helpful. As a solo traveller I felt safe & cared for. They made checking out easy by sorting it all out the night before. I would stay here again!

Great place to stay!

Four of us paid our first visit to The Farmers Boy Inn this afternoon. We had booked a table but were running late and they were happy change the time for us. After a bracing walk up nearby May Hill we arrived for lunch. Lovely old country pub with friendly staff. Really good menu, we could have a Sunday roast or various other meals, including their famous pies. I had a pie, two had roasts and one had a risotto. All really tasty. Desserts were good too, especially the cheesecakes. We could stay after the meal to just chat and relax, no pressure to get out. Will definitely return.

Best food & atmosphere around

Lovely atmosphere and amazing food! The pies are glorious!! Such friendly staff - Amanda and Susie were just lovely! 

Thank you for a delightful  Sunday birthday treat for me!! We definitely be retuning!
