We were looking for a pub with accommodation and wanted to avoid using booking.com as they take such a big chunk and when it’s a small business this can have a significant impact on finances. We searched using the good pub guide and this place is really friendly and welcoming. Rooms were comfortable with a lovely shower too
Food was great - both dinner and breakfast were exceptional - had prawn and crayfish cocktail which was delicious I had beef medallions and husband had pork loin
Nothing was too much trouble

Everyone thinking of going to Lincoln must stay here!

Just got back from meeting our daughter for a Sunday lunch here.
Honestly, we all agreed that this was one of the best Sunday lunches that we have ever had. The Food was really good, all home made, I couldn’t believe all the plates of sides that kept coming. Excellent value also, even at full price (which seemed very reasonable) but we enjoyed a 20% discount offer as per the website, which runs until the end of January, so fill your boots 👍. 
The bar and table service team were first class also, very polite, attentive and efficient. Even offering to go and get some skimmed milk from the shop for my coffee, nothing was too much trouble.
We will go again for sure and if you’re reading this and you are hungry, then so should you!

Excellent Sunday lunch, a real fire and really great service at a country pub.

Taken as a birthday treat by a neighbour and was blown away. When we last visited it was a pub serving food, it has been transformed into a quality gastro pub. The food was excellent in both variety and presentation, the staff whilst young are attentive and confident. Can't recommend this establishment highly enough 

Superb experience 

This is a welcoming pub with a great atmosphere in the bar and restaurant. 

Where this establishment fails is in the bedroom. 
It lacks doubles glazing and the heating such as it is, was not on for long. To put it mildly it was very cold.

Excellent Stay

The most amazing Christmas lunch. The table was lovely decorated & reserved for the whole day so no worry about rushing. The service was superb from beginning to end of our meal. The food was absolutely delicious, served at the right pace for us to enjoy our day. A thoroughly enjoyable meal & the best Christmas lunch out we’ve ever had. Thank you so much to the team at The George.

The most amazing Christmas lunch.

I booked for Christmas Night with my  daughter, son-in-law and two little grandchildren (2 and 6) for bed and breakfast (and was charged the same).  A few days before Christmas I received an email from the manager, Glen, to say there was no breakfast served on Boxing Day.  I queried this, merely to ask what the revised rate would be for just the room, and got this email in reply.

Ive always found most Christmas guests are here visiting friends or family and not serving breakfast isn’t an issue. As they are being looked after.

The fact is Christmas or not I don’t offer non breakfast rates.

If you need to cancel I understand and obviously there would be no charge

The hotel  was charging us for breakfast for 5 people but not providing it and happy to see us leave hungry on a freezing morning for a 3 hour drive home.   I booked through Booking,com, who contacted the manager who refused to acknowledge the issue.   I understand that Booking.com are taking further action on this.

SCROOGED ON CHRISTMAS DAY!

a very nice place and beautiful, freshly renovated clean rooms and showers and very comfortable beds - I wish I could have stayed longer!

Great experience

Spent two nights at The George and was not disappointed by the room, the service, the people, staff and the food was exceptional. Breakfast was included in the price and was also exceptional. Food was fresh and presentable

Great pub with excellent food

We stayed there at the end of August before our visit to Hemswell Antiques. The room we had was on the first floor next to the kitchen but in spite of that it was surprisingly quiet. Nice decor, quite spacious, huge mirror, comfy bed. We needed a fan as it was a hot day. The hotel is old and the layout is a bit convoluted. But then it adds to its charm. We also had dinner in the restaurant on the ground floor, next to a bar. We ordered only two starters each as we were not very hungry, which-as it turned out-was a mistake. Each portion was big enough to be a main course. We had red onion marmalade roasted camembert – rich, creamy and smooth with no trace of bitter aftertaste which sometimes is there with too mature camembert. The spring rolls with duck were truly delicious and equally truly huge. The red we had (South American Cabernet, if I’m not mistaken) was just as delicious as the food. The girls mixed up our drinks with those of other guests but it all got sorted out in the end. A very enjoyable meal for which the chef should be complemented and a very nice stay. Followed by an exciting day at Hemswell.
