Lovely old hotel situated in wonderful countryside. The owner Alan and his staff were very friendly and accommodating, providing a wealth of local information and excellent food, all dietary needs catered for.
Brilliant forestry walks from the hotel with amazing waterfalls a few minutes away. 

Relaxing weekend.

We are a family of 3 and stayed in the Mawddach room, which was perfect for us. Spacious, clean, and comfortable. Loved the 4 poster bed, and the garden view (with a view of the waterfall) was great. Hotel staff were friendly. The lounge is well appointed with books and games, and we really appreciated the staff's and other guests' patience with our families (we traveled with a few other families) hanging out in the lounge with our kids in the evening. There is a real air of peacefulness here that I appreciated, would love to come back some day.

Lovely country hotel

We stayed 3 nights here. On arrival, we were greeted by Gaynor who was very warm and welcoming. We stayed in the Dulas room, which is quite spacious with a very comfortable king size bed (a previous review mentioned there were 2 single mattresses, this was not the case for our stay, the mattress was super comfy!) and a lovely view out the front. The en - suite bathroom was decent, with a good shower (we didn't use the jacuzzi bath). Gaynor showed us the best way to the waterfalls, a highly recommended walk, just a few minutes from the door! All through our stay Gaynor and the staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble and we learned a lot about the beautiful building. Breafasts were delicious, and made a welcome change from the bog-standard full English! We dined there for one evening, though there isn't a huge choice the food was good and homely (and Gaynor's home made sticky toffee pudding is sensational!) - there are also lots of good places to eat in the local area. Don't expect 5 star luxuries from this 3 star hotel, but if you like quirky historic rooms and a warm welcome, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Plas Dolmelynllyn.

Gorgeous quirky building, very friendly staff

Beautiful location and the hotel was stunning. The gardens around were well kept and lovely adding a nice feel to the place. The staff we all really nice and helpful to all our needs. 
We stayed in a family bedroom which was lovely and a great size. With the location being so rural we all slept so well! 
Breakfast was great, with a great mix for everyone. The bar had a good range of sprints, less so on tap but was of course understandable due to the size of the hotel. 
The lounge was comfortable and well stocked with games and different entertainment.
The overall recommendations for this hotel would be for couples or groups looking for a quite and beautiful hotel. With lots of great walking locations around.

Quaint hotel in splendid location 

We stayed at the family-run Dolly for 3 nights to walk in the area and attend a family reunion. We found the management to be super-friendly, helping us with walking routes and generally going out of their way to be helpful. Breakfast was generous and tasty.

Friendly and helpful

I had to create a Trip Advisor Account just to review this beautiful hotel. This extremely old but kept beautifully kept gem of a hotel, is situated perfectly if you want to reach most walks by foot. Close to the river and by two gorgeous waterfalls, one can easily spent the days on the idyllic surroundings or go to the forest/mountains for a bigger adventure. The Inn is like living in a forgotten era but with all the amenities and comfort one needs. The food was perfect and was served in a room with a beautiful view in the magnificent gardens. My partner and I are both vegetarians and we were catered for nicely. The most unexpected element perhaps was Alan’s hospitality. We have travelled quite a bit and we truly can’t think of a host better than he was. That alone, made us broke the tradition of my partner alone writing the reviews and I decided to add my voice  too. He took care of us as if we were family. Even if just for that, we would give 5 stars but in addition to everything, else, was just a stellar stay. We can’t wait to be back very soon!!

Utterly Magical

We ended up here by chance during a busy bank holiday weekend and we loved every single bit.

The place is stunning and completely surrounded by trees and green. You can tell the building has seen few centuries but it’s well kept and the signs of the times just make it more special. I find the decor pretty amazing and some little touches go perfectly with the style of the building.

But the highlight of the short break is definitely the staff, beautiful helpful smiling people like it is rare to find.

Such a gem.

The hotel has the perfect location for anyone who wants to enjoy nature, incredibly placed within walking distance to everything this part of Snowdonia has to offer, rivers, mountains, waterfalls, lakes. It is an historical place and the architecture is as stunning as the view and its garden. Surrounded by its own magical forest, two waterfalls are less than 10 min walk, incredible! The host did everything to makes us feel welcomed and to assist us. He clearly went the extra mile with his knowledge and kind smile. This is not a 5 stars hotel, but who cares! One cannot buy history, charm, poetry, atmosphere and kindness, all elements that make a staying at Dolmelynllyn Hall memorable. Highly recommended.

Magical

First visit to North Wales and struggled to get accommodation. We changed a date and managed to secure this little beauty for three nights. First impressions is 'WOW', a lovely old manor in beautiful settings. Everything was basic in the hotel, room was comfortable but no pressure on the shower! Restaurant was closed so ate out everyday but breakfast was plentiful with great service. The staff really bring this hotel to light, really knowledgeable and friendly which makes for a perfect weekend.
The hotel is a little tired and having been shut up for so long you could smell the damp but we would not hesitate in returning as it served us well. Thanks to Alan, his son and all the staff.

Fantastic location for travelling North Wales

This is an old Welsh house, slightly gone to seed, but comfortable if a bit quirky. It gets a big plus for breakfast and a bigger one for the mountain garden that surrounds it. We thought the sound of a waterfall was rain! It had rained in the night but the walk to much bigger waterfalls was lovely, if a bit rock strewn here and there. Dinner is basic in these covid times. Rooms are nice and there are lots of books to borrow, but the scenery stole the show.
