We really enjoyed this place.  The room was clean and tidy, and the breakfast was wholesome, and well prepared.  The village is lovely and well situated for the coast, and other attractions.  We didn’t feel rushed. Sue and Adam were lovely hosts.

My wife and I stayed at Manor Farm for 3 nights, visiting Thirsk, Knaresborough, Malton, Whitby and beautiful Staithes.

Our hosts Sue and Adam were really friendly and welcoming and our room was great with a little outside area of table and chairs, which was ideal for an early morning cup of tea or a nightcap watching the sun go down.

The Royal Oak Inn was 300 yards down the road and had an excellent restaurant

If it's country charm, Yorkshire friendliness and absolute tranquility, then there's no better place.

We booked relatively last minute direct through their website and only got excellent service - from the directions, to the decor to the fantastic breakfast! Had a wonderful sleep. Would stay again if in the area 

Wonderful B&B 

Super spot in a lovely village. Pub 90 seconds away and very nice. Brilliant walks and cycling potential, though in the prevailing winds and snow we declined the latter option! Really warm welcome and fantastic farmhouse breakfast. Honestly can't fault it!

Lovely weekend WINTER break!

If you want a corporate image and a standard room Manor Farm is not or you. If however you want a home from home enviroment, with friendly hosts and a great breakfast you will do no better than to stay here. Manor Farm is a working farm with the associated farm yard smells. Situated in a beautiful village. The rooms are a little snug, but the bed is comfy and the en-suite bathroom clean. Toiletries are provided. The choice for breakfast is fairly extensive and nicely cooked, it set us well up for the day.  Manor farm is dog friendly which is a bonus as our muts always travel with us. We would willingly stay at Manor Farm again if we were in the area. 

Third time we've stayed here.

Stayed for three nights, working farm so expect the normal farm odours and the greetings from the dogs and cow's.. , home comforts. Good breakfast.nothing too much trouble! And really really friendly hosts..no frills just a great place to stay... 😁 Thanks

Nice break!

What these guys did well, they did brilliantly, but this was balanced by some very shoddy aspects. I think if we'd have stayed inside the house, experience would have been different, so Id say try and get inside rather than in one of the converted outbuildings.

The breakfast was amazing using local bacon and sausages and cooked perfectly, and the farm itself is in beautiful grounds in the heart of a picturesque village. The building itself is beautiful, the main hitch for me was that our bedroom didn't match the standard of its surroundings.

Our room was a diy project which was in parts unfinished, the sloppy tiling in the bathroom, and the unfinished porch, really made it feel like the room could use some TLC before anyone else was charged to sleep there. However the owners had gone to a lot of effort to make sure the room was comfortable, and in particular warm (I counted 6 forms of heating for a relatively small room!)

A bone of contention was an accusatory email/visit I received when the owner wrongly assumed we had left without paying. The morning of our departure, my partner had driven to the next village to use the nearest cash machine (in order to pay for our stay as they do not take cards) while I stayed and packed our belongings. To my surprise, the owner walked marched into the room long before we were due to checkout (without knocking) having seen our car wasn't there thinking we'd scarpered... to find me  very startled, packing our bags... She did apologise there and then for her mistake, however, I was none the less offended that she would come to that assumption with absolutely no reason to think that of us!

This along with the standard of our room have put me off coming back to this B&B, I would however return to Gilamoor though, as we were very impressed by the Red Lion Pub, and so would stay there instead.

avoid outside rooms

Something different than the usual hotel. Easy to find with a great atmosphere. Very helpful staff and a breaky to die for. Off the beaten track with easy routes to the main city. But overall, a comfy and cosy retreat.

Quiet getaway

the food was good and plentiful and the beds were comfortable. Sue was very friendly and talkative. The only downside was that she could do with being a bit more attentive to the cleanliness. there was dirt behind the bathroom door, dust on some surfaces and the drawers hadn't been checked for stuff left behind. Be advised that Sue doesn't have a card machine so you will need cash or a cheque.
