Food was excellent, the financial input into the hotel and the services like food and hospitality are evident. Excellent meal and service prompt. The young lad who served us was very mannerly and observant and knew the menu very well.

Bar staff had 'nt a clue.Pouring wrong drinks. Party started at 7.30 and just before 9pm they ran out of Lager.Then shortly after Guinness and Morgans Spice. Glasses where never cleared away from the table .There was a constant queue at the Bar the whole night.  Toilets where also never checked covered in hand towels. Sound system for DJ was'nt the best either. Totally spoiled the couples Engagement . Please book somewhere else as such a let down. Poor show. spend your money elsewhere is my advice. 

Engagement Party

Bars service in function suite terrible, ran out of Tennents Lager, Guinness had to drink spirits with measures of 25ml at inflated prices. I feel really sorry for the couple whose engagement it was. I definitely won’t be back again in a hurry. When management approached they said what can I do. Obviously don’t know how to organise a bar for a function. 

We booked a function for here and everything was fantastic! The function room has been renovated and so much better than we could have expected. The manager, Dominique, was incredibly helpful and we had an amazing night

Great

Don't go, staff bringing steaks and have no idea if they are rare, medium or well done. Run out of various drinks within an hour. 2 starters out of 10 arrived waited for the others and had to go and ask for the others. Staff don't seem to know what's happening. 

Christmas day 2019

I recently attended a Xmas party night on 14th December and while the food and entertainment was good the service was terrible we were supposed to eat at 7.30 but she's my start until 8.30? and were still eating our sweet at 10.15. Taking nearly an hour between courses. The price of drink was excessive at least £3more expensive than the lounge.  While I understand prices in the function suits would be more I think this was too excessive. I would not come again or recommend it.

Not impressed

Having stayed at Smiths Hotel in June, my wife and I were delighted to have the opportunity to stay again last weekend when we attended a friends wedding.
Once again the staff were extremely friendly and our room was to the highest standard.
The evening reception was held in the newly refurbished ballroom and it was clear no expense had been spared in the resulting decor.
We ate in the restaurant where the local fare was delicious.
Breakfast consisted of a typical ‘ScottishSpread’ - filling & scrumptious.
Overall, our 2 night stay was completely satisfactory & a golfing trip with 4 friends in April has already been booked at the hotel.

Wedding Function

Attended this event last night with some family and friends, and was aware that the function suite had just been refurbished  so was really looking forward to the night. The renovations was absolutely brilliant with clearly the best use of the existing space, and the new additions of beautiful glass windows looking on to the Campsie hills👌 The Jersey Notes were fabulous, and the three group members managed to show their individual personalities as well as sing their hearts out👏🏻. The only issue of the night was the meal which was below par.  However,  the management by way of an apology bought the table a drink, and invited us all to the official opening of their new function area ⭐️⭐️⭐️ We will definitely be visiting this venue again, as  it is really refreshing to find a management team who clearly want to keep their guests happy!

Jersey notes evening

we arrived in the morning and checked in, the last room available was the budget room which for what we paid was fair enough. We went upstairs and opened the door to the room and the smell was awful, we were checking under the bed etc to see what was causing it. We left for the day and got back very late so decided to wait until the following morning to advise staff. The house keeper was extremely loud outside our room the next morning shouting up and down the hallway, then decided to let herself in to our room with no warning as I was standing out of the shower with nothing on! Then rudely advised my husband that we were supposed to be checked out for 10:30, even though we booked for two nights..? The shower is soo impractical as it floods the whole bathroom, the steam also set the fire alarm off, to which we got a knock on the door from a manager questioning us, even though other reviews state that staff admit this is a regular occurance...we complained and were upgraded to a cleaner less smelly room but honestly would not stay here again.
