The best Sunday roast ,cooked to perfection ,nice helpful staff all very good ,we had starter that was very nice great selection would definitely be going back loved it the only thing was the service charge I don’t like being told what to pay but you can get it taken off and we paid our own.

The best Sunday lunch

We went on Boxing Day as a family group of 26 . We have eaten here since it changed and it was amazing so booked for boing day . Everything from booking onwards was easy and super friendly . The staff were happy , friendly and efficient . The food !!! Everything was fabulous , the kids meals were fab and the adults meals were all delicious . To feed everyone and for it to small be hot was amazing . All home cooked  fresh food .Our whole family commented it was the best they've had . Wonderful hidden gem , will defo be back

Boxing Day meal

Festive meal - booked a table for me and my cousins to get together before Christmas, Staff were amazing, friendly and caring. We all chose our options the week before - the food came out piping hot and delicious, everything was cooked to perfection and plenty of it, nothing was too much trouble - we went for the bottomless drinks package and our glasses were topped up all the time, the staff made sure we were looked after - 10 out of 10 customer satisfaction from us all :-)

What a find we had a Lovely friendly welcome good choice of ales and lagers and a great menu a unique ambiance in this historic setting
The starter we shared which was delicious and the beef roast was excellent highly recommend this charming place

Well with a visit you won’t be disappointed

Booked via booking .com needed to re - arrange date by one day.
Called hotel direct, as booking .com has a 48hr response policy which would be too late to get a change made as it had only been booked day before, due to work being rearranged.
Rang in the morning & lady on reception was nice, she said wouldn't be a problem as had  availability, however we double checked later that night & spoke to manager who was rude & very unhelpful , refusing to change the day even though they had space for us 

We ended up paying for room we didn't use and choose to book an alternative

Which is a shame as we always have several drinks & meals .
So they missed out on our custom & any return business as working in Gloucester

Rude unhelpful Manager

Valentine’s meal at the thatch was lovely, wonderful wine and starters but the real experience was actually a little mix up. My partner ordered the brisket croquette but the brisket burger came out…the waitresses couldn’t have been more awesome. The lady who took our order apologised profusely, and because it was an easy mistake my other half suggested plating up the brisket in the burger with the trimmings of the meal he’d ordered. They did this and the presentation was lovely. My food was exceptional but even though the mistake was amended, the manager took the price of our bottle of wine off the menu. We’ll be back with bells on!

5  star service with bells on!

we stayed for 2 nights and booked direct which we thought would be the best value but wasn't at £165 per night B&B, Booking.com was better priced. Water pressure was low so the shower was not that great.
The staff were very good as was the breakfast, there is a significant refurbishment going on which limits availability.

A pleasant enough stay but expensive

We booked for a table of 4 plus child vegand all ordered Roast beef. 2 meagre slices. presumably pre cut as no sign of carving. roast potatoes hard, yorkshire pudding soggy all over. Roasted carrot and parsnip must have been in competition to see how many slices you can get off them. Extra veg was brought over and the amount was a joke, cabbage., miniscule along with the rest of the offerings, and hardly enough for 2 people. We did order a child's portion which came with free ice crea. the insult was that you charge the same for a child's portion as an adult. The meals are grossly overpriced. now to the bill. was not told about the service charge added to the bill, and the waitress dis receive a tip!! It is not a surprise that there are 40 odd Terrible ratings on Trip Advisor. This one is joining them and will never have a meal in the Thatch ever again and if anyone asks me I will tell them of our experience

Poor Quality and Quantity

Myself and some 20 members and their partners of our metal detecting club had our xmas meal in the venue room on the 10th December.
Just one word. Superb.
Initially liaised with Marc the manager and was then greatly assisted by Paula and Tom. 
And a big nod to everyone who made our day very special indeed.
The meals were superb and hot! Not one complaint from any of our group plus you sorted out our vegan and gluten free members. 
Whenever I questioned anything along the way I always got a quick email reply.  You went the extra mile and I hope the tin of chocs went some way to thanking you all.
And great choice of ales there!. Timothy Taylor Landlord was on and this was highly rated by one of our group on the day! I also have a penchant for it too :-D
Due to our club members being spread far and wide around the shire then we usually have to alternate our choice of venues for our annual xmas get together. We may not be back next year but rest assured plans are already afoot to be back the following year. And I look forward to arranging everything with you again then.

p.s. One of our members was ill on the day but his wife still came along. She asked if her husbands meal could be taken home by her on leaving. Paula, again you were the star on the day, and thanks for arranging this for me and presenting the meal nicely wrapped up in tin foil. 



Xmas meal. December 10th 2022

Lovely comfortable beds, friendly and welcoming staff, breakfast was 5/5! Hotel itself would have got 5 but the heating didn’t come on and it was little cold! We had dinner in the evening and this was also very good, especially the steak and pudding.
