Lovely find, comfortable stay, excellent dinner, friendly staff.
We wanted to break our journey from Kent down to Portsmouth so looked for pubs with rooms en route. Very happy to have stumbled upon the White Hart. 
Fantastic evening meal (the squid beautifully spiced, the burger handmade, the honeycomb and raspberry sorbet just perfect to end) and a very comfortable room.
Excellent shower, good breakfast and all sub £100. You don’t see that very often these days.

Definitely worth a visit

Valentine's night stay...love  the touches in the room...rose petals and towel sculptures. 
Clean...excellent selection of teas, coffees and a nesspresso machine!
Delightful staff and a vibrant atmosphere in this very beautiful old building. 
We will return.

Valentine's treat!

Having spent three nights on the Isle of Wight we thought it would nice to add a extra night on our way home. What a great find by chance. This is a great pub that offers excellent food and accommodation. We stayed in room one. Fabulous but very low beams. The staff were both friendly and helpful and made our stay and evening memorable. As a locals pub they also were welcoming to us holiday makers. This off the beaten track in many ways but so worth the visit. 

We enjoyed our evening meal, although the portions were to say the least hearty. Well worth the visit if you’re in the area

Great little find

The highlight of the stay was the  room  which was well equipped clean and cosy. Really disappointed with the restaurant though. Service was poor and food not much better. Ordered chicken breast with colcannon mash and a red wine jus. What I actually got was chicken breast, mashed potato, cabbage, carrots and gravy. The other meal was the haddock and chip with minted pea puree and although the fish was good the batter was over cooked, burnt and not very pleasant. As for the service there was no water on the table or offered despite there being water glasses on the table. When we had finished the main course we waited quite a long time but even though the restaurant wasn`t busy  nobody came to clear the plates or offer the desert menu. At  this point we left and for the rest of our stay we ate elsewhere.

A mixed bag

A very pleasant stay here.
The whole place felt very well maintained and had the atmosphere of a cosy traditional inn but with a luxurious bistro type feel as well.
I wish we had eaten dinner here as the menu looked good and I think the good would have been excellent based on dishes I saw coming out of the kitchen.
Our breakfast was good quality and comprehensive - but not cheap, however it was fair value for money.
Staff were very professional and friendly and it had the feel of a very well run establishment by a team that really know what they are doing - nothing was too much trouble and our needs were accommodated without a blink.
Our room felt luxurious with various extras and overall it considerably exceeded our expectations. It was spotlessly clean with comfy beds and good quality linen.
I would certainly stay here again and look forward to doing so.

Fabulous cozy well maintained inn - luxurious, clean, friendly and professional

Stayed in a converted barn room external to the pub. Really impressed with the quality of room. The room was supplied with everything needed, Nespresso machine, tea/coffee, percolator, shoe shine kit, toothbrush. Much more than expected.

Great stay

Nice pub with plenty of character in a typically English village.
However the drinks prices are nothing less than a rip off. When challenged the barman tried to compare their prices to London prices which is ludicrous as their overheads are nothing like London. 
Won’t be going there again.

We were visiting the south of England and were looking for a traditional pub to stay in. We weren't disappointed - The White Hart is a lovely gem of a traditional pub.  We stayed in a converted barn that was clean and comfortable with a good standard of amenities.  Excellent breakfast. We would visit again.

Good Traditional Pub ideal for a Stopover

My second day on the South Downs Way brought me to South Harting and the very fine and pleasant, The White Hart.  They served an excellent pint and my supper that evening was excellent.  The room was an adjacent building on the property, was nicely furnished and very convenient.  South Harting is a delightful village, well worth some extra time along the SDW.

Superb Pub with Engaging and Helpful Manager

Stayed over 1 night whilst walking the South Downs Way. Great B & B. Staff friendly. Breakfast excellent.  Twin room has good facilities & is well equipped. Ensuite bathroom lovely with nice big shower & lashings of hot water
