My wife and I stayed here for three nights in July 2023. It's a lovely hotel in a great location for exploring the Cairngorms. The owners are lovely and extremely helpful, with plenty of advice for places to visit or local restaurants. Apart from the excellent breakfasts, we had an afternoon tea and a meal one evening, all highly recommended. We definitely plan to visit again.

Lovely stay

Iain gave us a great welcome and provided lots of valuable and interesting information, making our stay most enjoyable. Elaine’s breakfasts are delicious.  Our room was comfortable, and the bathroom was beautiful.  Tigh-na-Sgiath is a grand house, rich in history and exuding elegance. We recommend visiting Iain and Elaine.

Gracious hospitality and outstanding accommodations

We had a wonderful stay at Tigh Na Sgiath for two nights during our honeymoon in September. The house was lovely and cozy, with a lot of character. Iain was very kind and helpful, giving us excellent recommendations for restaurants in the area. He and his wife have a beautiful place that we highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing and romantic getaway.

Authentic retreat next to the Cairngorms

The innkeeper and his wife pushed this review into the 5 star category!  The house, which is in and of itself beautifully constructed and appointed, was only the beginning of our fabulous 3 day stay.  We were late in arriving but were graciously offered the option of a beautifully prepared charcuterie platter and cocktails.  The breakfasts, which include many options, were all outstanding and the kitchen cheerfully accommodated a gluten free diet of one of our friends.  Lively conversation with the owner capped what will remain as one of of the highlights of the Highlands.

Treated like royalty in a gorgeous historic home

The Ballindalloch Room was very spacious and had everything we needed. I would note the mattress was pretty thin - you could feel the springs - and probably needs to be replaced, but we still slept alright. Breakfast was tasty and the location was a great base for exploring the area. 

Good location

Excellent hosts, they couldn't do enough for us. The hotel is so relaxing and very dog friendly. The rooms are immaculate and the breakfast was out of this world. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. We will be back again next year.

We booked this very last minute as wanted a change of scenery for the last night of our honeymoon. We had the Ballindalloch room. The hotel was stunning, very clean and super comfy. The host, Ian, was friendly and polite. Our room was large and had a large jacuzzi bath (that fits two!) 
The breakfast was delicious and well catered for GF and DF. 
We are very happy we booked it and would definitely return in the future.

A lovely hotel

Great host, warm inviting coutry house. Bedroom was nicely sized with tea/coffee and a good sixed bathroom with shower. Downstairs was a very welcoming lounge area, the breakfast/afternoon tea room was quaint and welcoming.  Nothing was too much trouble for the host which makes this a great place to stay!

A great place to stay

We booked last minute on our way North for walking trip. Beautiful welcoming home, very clean and comfortable and warm. A delicious breakfast. A real gem and we will come back for a longer stay soon. Thanks so much. Nicky and Ian.

Lovely overnight stay will come again

We stayed at Tigh na Sgiath as part of our honeymoon and enjoyed every minute of our stay! The owners do an amazing job running this hotel. Iain is very welcoming and friendly, full of tips and advice on where to go in the local area. Nothing was too much trouble and he also immediately alerted us to some items we had left behind after checking out. 

We stayed in Speanoch. The room is very nicely furnished, in keeping with the style of the house. The tea tray was great and we appreciated the fresh milk kept in a fridge nearby. The view was of a feeder and we saw red squirrels both mornings! The star of the room is the luxury bathroom - it's almost as big as the room! There is a large walk in shower and then a Bette hydrobath with a TV in the wall. The bath is big enough for two and has plenty of hot water. We also appreciated the luxury toiletries. 

Breakfast is amazing - great quality, very tasty, and served with a smile. The drawing room is open to guests and is a lovely space to relax in.

We were very sad to leave and can't wait to come back!
