After spending some time in Turkey, a friend in the UK suggested that I come to visit. Very happy that I did. It was a great place to relax at and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. Couldn't ask for better staff or culinary delights.

Gorgeous lunch and fabulous staff. Thank you to Mark and staff for great hospitality and great service.  Fabulous food and a really good choice. The decor looks brilliant inside and lovely changes made there. Perfect weather for sitting outside with a bottle of wine

Stayed here for two nights for a ‘mini-moon’ following our wedding, the whole place is beautiful, peaceful and restful. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a beautiful swimming pool and floating sauna on the lake which is idyllic. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings with lots of lovely walking to be done as well as rowing/canoeing and wild swimming. The food was lovely and there is a nice selection of cocktails. We couldn’t fault it, we didn’t want to leave and will definitely be coming to stay again!

Perfect relaxing mini-moon

Just returned home from a lovely three night stay. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, bed was really comfortable and everything was clean. The breakfast and dinner was lovely and couldn’t fault it. This is in a peaceful location with beautiful scenery

Great stay! 

This is our second stay at the Fritton Arms. There is a lovely family room which suits our needs just fine. The restaurant have a lovely menu and the service is very good. We would recommend the hotel.

Great location

The bedrooms had lots of character and were very clean the staff were really helpful, food was excellent with a great choice, also a good choice of gin!
The garden at the hotel were beautiful, look forward to returning and using the new swimming pool!

Beautiful and friendly hotel

Great breakfast (black pudding was the best I have had in years). Did not have dinner there so cannot comment. Drinks are a bit pricey for the area.
Room 6 is upstairs (as are all? of the others). No lift. Big bedroom and bathroom. Low ceiling in places.
Bathroom is big BUT the bath is in the centre of the room and is hard to get in and out of (high and no grab handles). The shower is hand held only and no shower screen or curtains, so a stand up shower is almost impossible and would leave water everywhere. Wife loved the toiletries, especially the hand cream.

Good breakfast but not very disabled friendly

When we stayed there in august 2019, there was a vast difference between what the glossy advertising web-pages showed and our experience of real conditions in the hotel.

We were shocked to see dirty soiled furnishings such as dirty stained carpets and torn furniture. The condition of the hotel is far from ‘shabby-chic’ , it was just dirty-yuk.
When we went for a walk around the grounds we saw damaged buildings and weed-infested over grown areas.
We were surprised that the new swimming pool was surrounded with builder’s steel fencing.
Despite what we were told about facilities and amities we were stopped from swimming in the lake. We were told …there was a staffing problem and no life-guard was on duty.

By the way …
If you go there, we suggest that when you check-in you count the number of toiletry bottles in the   bathroom, and carefully count them before checking out, 
because there’s a strong written warning that you’ll get charged loads if any is missing ( see photo ). We found that typical of the unhelpful management style.

When we raised our concerns about dirty furnishings on checking out, the hotel person explained that there is a big plan to renovate and refurbish the hotel and grounds and agreed with us that it is very much needed !

Just had the most absolute tastiest , filling  roast beef lunch. Meat was cooked perfect , gravy outstanding and veg was amazing. All served with service with a smile . Definitely recommend, best roast dinner in area .
All enjoyed with a jug of ginger ale pims.
Also nice to see retro p.e plimsolls in fashion 😉

Sunday lunch delight 

A one night stay at Fritton Arms hotel and we found the general ambiance warm and inviting, dinner was very good with all of our mains and desserts being faultless in presentation and taste.  Breakfast was okay but seemed more pulled together from pre cooked components than cooked to order.  We enjoyed a few games of pool and played cards in the lounge in the evening.  We appreciated that our dog was welcome throughout the hotel.

But, our family room was dated and rather tired and not very well cleaned.  With limited windows in the room in the eves, a portable aircon unit that blew cold air at the front and hot from the back (not vented to outside) so was useless, and an all season duvet, the room in July was warmer than hoped for a good nights sleep.  

My son’s put you up camp bed was hard with a wafer thin mattress.  

The ceiling was peppered with emergency exit light units casting bright green and blue hues throughout the night and further interrupting our sleep.  

The carpet in the room and on the stairs was stained and soiled and hadn’t seen a vacuum or shampoo is quite some time.  

The bath had a shower head attached but no wall fitting.  Nice shampoo and conditioner but no soap.  A wall mirror that didn’t stay as positioned.  

Table lamps sitting on the floor and outside patio wall lights used internally.    

Coffee and tea making facilities for two in our family room for four and the teaspoons were sticky, obviously used and not cleaned afterwards.  

The whole setup was all a bit mish mash, dated, tired, soiled.  They really could do with a total revamp of the family room we had.

We might visit again for food but unlikely to stay and cannot recommend a stay.
