Loads of character, friendly proprietors and good value.   Breakfast is served at the table in your bed room, which is a nice touch. 

It's also an easy walk in to the centre of Abergavenny in the evening.

Victorian character

Our weekend base in Abergavenny was at Ryvington B&B, which we booked on account of its location (minutes from both train station and town centre) and overall value for money, though we did wonder at the relatively small number of reviews (all positive albeit) it had received to date. However, we can at least follow the favourable consensus and remark that our stay was a comfortable one.

The ebullience of our courteous host John (whose wife we didn’t meet) was evident from the moment we arrived at the front door. Greeting us warmly, he showed us to our room, narrating his background role along the way. Once settled in, it was clear that we would not be bothered for the duration of our stay, though we could order breakfast and ‘top ups’ for the fridge via a form left in our room, which John would leave in the kitchen near our room at the appointed time each morning. 

The breakfast was ample and varied in content: toast, bagels, cereal, ham, cheese, fruit, yoghurt… were provided, along with cereals, juice, hot drinks etc. available in our room. So we were well set up for a day out. The room itself was quiet, clean and comfortable - once back from a day of walking, we had no reason to leave, though an additional kitchen and living room were available. Overall, Ryvington is more of a guest house than a B&B, but it’s one with all the comforts of home.

A cosy little stay

A lovely B&B in a period semi set just outside Abergavenny town centre, with great access to local shops and restaurants. The room was comfortable and had some lovely touches, such as a fridge complete with fresh milk and bottled water. Having breakfast delivered to the room at our chosen time was a real bonus, and there was a good choice from which we selected the night before. John and his wife were incredibly kind, friendly and helpful.

Welcoming, convenient B&B

Lovely place to stay, plenty of sites to visit within location.
Had a very warm welcome from the owners.
Place was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. 
Would definitely stay here again.
Owners recommended booking direct with them next time as booking.com takes commission that boosts price up.

Weekend Break

John was a fantastic, friendly host and made me very welcome. My room was beautifully laid out with a separate bathroom and private landing so felt very spacious with a lovely view over the garden. You choose your breakfast from a wide range of goods and John brings it to your room - very relaxing to have breakfast in your PJs in a B&B! Coupled with the room facilities (kettle, toaster, fridge), this made a great base for exploring the local area and I would recommend it highly.

Charming and welcoming

Hosts were fantastic. It is always nice when the hosts find the time to discuss your stay. Breakfast delivered to the door, and very enjoyable. Everything in the apartment that you need.  Railway and Bus Station just a few minutes away and the Town Centre just a couple of minutes away. We would stay again.
