We had our wedding here, and it blew us away.
If your looking for a smallish, intimate, homely wedding venue look no further as The Fleece is the place to be.

We wanted to pass on our thanks to all the staff that were there on our wedding day.

Carrie-Anne who dealt with us from day one was amazing, talking us through everything that we might need or want.

The food was exceptional, the amount of amazing comments we had from our guests was fantastic.
The chef out did himself. You can't beat proper home cooked Yorkshire food.

Lucy on the day was fantastic, extremely helpful and very professional. Nothing was to much trouble.

We had Becky on the evening, and all her other colleagues couldn't do enough. Everything ran so smoothly we didn't want it to end.

Everyone was so helpful and professional.

The housekeeping staff were amazing to, the rooms were very clean and very comfortable.

The breakfast was to die for!

We loved every minute of our day, and we can't thank you all enough.

Winter Wedding Venue to die for! "Just Perfect" 

I travelled here for work, so I can't really comment on value etc as it was all free. Also, I was in room 3. 

The staff were great. Very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is meant to start at 8am (which I thought was quite late) but they let us order the night before so it would be a bit early so we could get to the office on time. 

The room was nice. I liked the decor, and it was well-appointed with an iron, an extension lead in a drawer, tea and coffee, etc. The bathroom had a tray for the bath you could prop a book up on, and bottles of shampoo, conditioner, etc. Also the radiator was great, I was very cosy. 

The food was expensive (I wouldn't have ordered dinner there if it was my own money) but REALLY good. I ended up getting the same meal two nights in a row, it was some of the best food I've had in months. 

The reason I'm giving it four stars is two-fold. First, the bathroom was tiny. It wouldn't have been comfortable at all for a bigger person. I'm reasonably slim but I had to go in sideways to avoid getting stuck between the sink and the doorframe. Also, I came on my period on the last night of the trip and didn't have any menstrual products with me so I asked at the front desk, but they didn't have any. I was really surprised, I've never stayed at a hotel that didn't have a few pads or tampons tucked away somewhere in case somebody needed them. 

So, I wouldn't recommend for bigger patrons but otherwise a really good stay. 

Great if you're skinny 

Delicious food and polite and friendly service . They use local, high-quality produce and prepare it well. Front of house are lovely and keen to help. The puddings were absolutely  sublime. It's really fabulous. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Thank you.

Great Inn, lovely food

  Perfect recommendation.  Amazing view from outside patio. Car parking excellent. Access for disabled a bit tight but manageable, good disabled toilet.  Great menu selection, food excellent  , burgers to pink, steaks almost perfect, asked for medium but still to pink, wedding in progress so maybe a bit under pressure. Very busy. But a fantastic afternoon, all staff very attentive , will certainly return.

Family get together

The Sunday dinner here is very good I’ve never had a bad experience . The beef is always cooked lovely . I have also been here for breakfast on a Sunday morning . It was very nice . Not cheap but quality .

What can I say! Right from the start you are warmly welcomed by friendly, helpful staff. 
The venue itself is beautiful! 7 bedroom country inn which looks out over the back to stunning views- will be ideal for summer drinks. 
The food was outstanding! We both went for sirloin steak; it was one of the best we’ve had. I would also recommend the sticky toffee pud- yummy! Breakfast was superb: fresh and locally- sourced produce. 
All the staff were so brilliant- thank you!  We’d  like to give a special mention to Liam for making our stay so enjoyable- your pornstar martinis are amazing and you were so hospitable. 
Looking forward to returning in summer for a family wedding.

Beautiful venue! Above and beyond staff

Stayed here for one night in a family room. Lovely room, comfortable bed and the kids loved staying on the mezzanine. Dinner in the restaurant was amazing as was the breakfast which is cooked to order. They have a kids menu in the restaurant. The views from the inn are lovely and it’s just a beautiful spot to stay for the night

Appalling, poor customer service, poor communication, too many issues to list here.  My advice to anyone considering this place for a wedding, look elsewhere, there are lots of places who would genuinely be glad of your custom and do what they say 

"go above and beyond to make your day special"

Just had an excellent weekend away with my partner, on travelling back through the Halifax area, thought I would try the Fleece Inn for Sunday Lunch, I had told my partner how good it was.
The meal “ Spring lamb “ x2 was served on the 1st occasion virtually cold, it was immediately sent back. The 2nd version was a new dish of lamb, but looked like the scraps. The meat was extremely fatty ,rubbery and tasteless. Over half was left & placed into the Napkins. 
On leaving I pointed this out to the Manager & waitress, however no acceptance was forthcoming or apology.
My Partner didn’t want to create a scene , so we paid & left , totally unsatisfied. 
I contacted the Fleece later by email & had a dialogue, however they were not forthcoming with an apology or any recompense. 
Definitely need to work on there customer service attitude when things go wrong

Poor 2

Visited here with my family for lunch time treat after hearing such good reviews- how disappointed we were!!! 
We ordered 2 burgers and 1 plate of fish and chips.  
So I understand working in hospitality that burgers are meant to be cooked medium-rare- let me tell you both of our burgers were so undercooked and pink we couldn’t even eat them. Not even that, they were completely tasteless, no seasoning and the most bland burger I’ve ever tried. 
The burger was also supposed to come with coleslaw which the chef must not have bothered to put on either plates. 
My mum had the fish and chips, the fish was so greasy she could only eat half of it and her mouth/lips were covered in grease! The waiter said “it must have been the prep”  but you could see the grease literally on the plate. Having complained politely the food wasn’t to our taste to the staff we were then treated like dog crap, the chef purposely came down to stare at us at the table and give us a dirty look!! 
And then he continued to smoke out the front of the restaurant where we were sat- very unhygienic and unprofessional!! 
We weren’t given any discount off of our bill and the staff were so rude and condescending towards us, acting over friendly and nicey nice to our face then we heard them bad mouthing us at the till. 
Absolute disgrace- its not the complaint but how you deal with the complaint, and let me tell you, all of the staff did not deal with it at all well. Maybe they should all do some training on how to deal with criticism. 
Anyway we are majorly disappointed and we will definitely be visiting other nicer pubs in the area and never this one again
