The Hotel and Reasterant has had a revamp menu is in Italian,  so many fantastic starter, mains and deserts to choose from. My Husband and I visit here with my siblings and their partners ever three months , for a wee dinner bed and breakfast.  We all love it but this visit with the new menu was the best visit ever. As we were all choosing what to eat we were also choosing what to have the next time lol. All the bedding looks brand new,  amazing pillows too , beds are a mix of medium or hard so we swap rooms so we each have the kind of bed we like .

We came along to the restaurant last night to celebrate my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary. From arriving we were looked after excellently by Michael and all of his team.

Food was lovely and everyone enjoyed all courses, including nice wine and drinks.

It’s been a few years since we’ve visited having previously been fairly regularly. Very pleasantly surprised, and hope to return in the near future.

60th Wedding Anniversary

Simon Marshall when I arrived on the 10th early took 500 pounds so I could get a room then denied the fact until realising the camera that saw it and claimed I gave him a tip of 500 pounds just for doing his job, after all of this I was faced with a disgusting attitude of Mary lambie as I like to tip staff members for doing a good job something I never gave her she decided that I did not belong in her hotel to which then I left with no problem as after the treatment from Mary lambie was so disgusting like her face

Disgusting

I’m going to start with the positives as this place needs to be bigged up. A small independent up against the big name brands. 
Every staff member was friendly approachable and smiling. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a problem with our first room which was instantly resolved and we were moved no hesitation. 
We ate in the restaurant Fico restaurant. Both had the tagliatelle one with steak one with king prawn overall hearty and tasty and again exceptional service. 
Now on to the downsides. 
The first room we were allocated number 19 was spacious and faced the main road with big picture windows. Though clean the room was tired and could do with some TLC. The heat when we opened the door was oppressive and we were unable to turn down the radiator as the dial was on the floor. We tried fitting it back on with no luck. Opening the window let the traffic noise in and there was no way we could have slept there. As I mentioned we were moved rooms with no bother to a family room in the refurbished annexe (as per photos). This room was spacious comfortable and much better maintained than the first.  No coffee on the tray though just teabags. There were memory foam pillows and comfortable mattresses. The noise from the road was minimal and bar the noise from other guests talking whilst coming and going was peaceful. 
Overall we had an ok stay and for the price would return to help the hotel save some pennies and give all rooms some love. We also prefer giving our money to the independents they need our support.

Basic but perfectly located

Had the best 2 course lunch in the Avonbridge. Food was so tasty and atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. 
Great value, food all very fresh and good choice on the set menu,  waiting staff were really friendly and good choice of wine, will definitely be back.

Lovely Sunday 2 course lunch

This is a quaint little hotel. The staff were friendly. The hotel is older, with charm and well kept. I loved the breakfast room, it looked so fancy, glass ceiling with pink flowers hanging down. The breakfast spread was very good with a lot of options. We ate at the attached bar. The menu is limited. I ordered a pizza and my husband thought he was getting a hotdog and fries, but his came on a pizza too.  He said it was good and my pizza was as well. We meet and talked with a local lady, Sandra. She was very sweet. After retiring to our room for the night the receptionist called and said someone had left us a gift. Sandra had sent us a card welcoming us to Scotland along with a tin of biscuits (cookies). I was so surprised. How sweet and thoughtful of her. The people we have encountered in England and Scotland have been over the top nice, polite and courteous. I loved the skeleton key, so old fashioned, glad they haven't upgraded the locks, it adds to the charm.

Quaint, charming Hotel

I booked an executive double room in the annex as it was a special occasion for my wife (we have stayed in it before) and she loved the room. So I thought let's do it again. Got to reception and they couldn't find my booking , then gave me the wrong one then to be told we were in the main building, which I explained the above, to be told oh we weren't expecting anyone in the annex so they have not been cleaned and there is no one to clean them but this room is an executive room. I thought OK it is what it is. God , the room was a third of the size of the annex and lacked the facilities in the booking. I did have a shower then noticed everything that was wrong. This service is unacceptable and down right robbery. Don't get what you pay for but we can't do anything about it. I made other arrangements and left. In the room all of 30 minutes, I also felt sorry for the young girl on the desk as she didn't know what was going on. I am not a snob by any manner of means but do expect to get what I pay for. We do have photos of the executive room from the last time but here is thier idea of a similar room

Totally 100% different class. 
The restaurant is one of the best I have ever experienced. The atmosphere in the place is superb especially for a hotel in the centre of town. Also a night club to the rear if you are of that age. 

Night Away

Everything about this hotel is ideal. Efficient check in with a very cheerful receptionist. 
Restaurant was closed so went to Italian at rear.
Again really good service.
Menu choice was not great, but desert was amazing.
Definitely stay again. Yes, it is a bit tired as a hotel but at price a definite re visit.

Great value

It was an interesting stay. Needed something for 1 night, so wasn't too fuzzy and it looked nice and the restaurant on site was a bonus.

My standard room was small but did do. The mattress was nice and firm as were the pillows and the WiFi was great (better than Premier Inn). The room however felt dated and tired. 
Bathroom was ok apart from an old towel still hanging on the door.
The shower was nice and hot with decent pressure.

It was disappointing that the restaurant was closed on Mondays, especially as I booked a room with breakfast and upgraded to dinner included.

The bar does pizza, which was really nice but in the end cost less than what I paid for to upgrade to dinner.

Service in the bar was poor. The waitress was just running past, dropping the plate somewhere on the table and in general showed more interest in singing along to the music than her customers. 

Breakfast was ok. Nice bacon, shame sausages didn't get topped up.
