Well what a fantastic stay we had at Alexa house in Harrogate. The hosts couldn’t have done more to make us all feel welcome, putting on a delicious spread, including bug jelly for halloween made by one of the housekeepers 🎃

Note - I got locked in the bathroom on the landing for some time, but a charming fellow guest called Will saved the day. FYI the handle is counterclockwise to get out 🤦‍♂️

I've stayed in many Hotels & B&B's over the last 20yrs plus but I have never felt the need to write a review. However, on this occasion I do because the rudeness & attitude of the lady was uttley disgusting.

My friend booked the accommodation through 'Buy a Gift'.On arrival around 1930hr she rang the B&B about parking & then 5 mins later rang the doorbell. We were told the key would be in a box for us on arrival so I appreciate we should have taken the key from the box but my friend rang because she'd literally just spoken to them.
Once settled we went out for a meal.
The following morning there was a knock on our room door regarding cleaning. We asked for clean towels & for the bin to be emptied. At this point we heard the lady say..."they are not having clean towels they have the cheapest room here". She then  came to our door, told us we were noisy coming in last night,told us we checked-in late saying check in was prior to 1900hr (desite an email that advised 2000hr & a note on the door that said 2000hr..image below).We knew we weren't noisy coming back nor too late as we were in bed around 2300hr.We asked her what time we got in but she didn't have a clue...I suspect she presumed we had been out all night partying.At this point we could have told her that we were woken up around 0400hr with somebody drawing curtains & her husband leaving but we didn't.
She also told us to park 1 of our cars outside the car park because it was only 1 car per room. There were no please  
or thank you, we were just told. Please note at this point there were spaces in the car park which we highlighted to her but in a very cocky tone she said it's "Saturday night,its busy"
We told the lady we would write a review about our experience & she replied " I don't care".
We were eventually begrudgingly given clean bath towels but not hand towels.
We also ran out of loo roll but decided to buy our own because we felt uncomfortable  asking for more.
The room was very small, cold & the bathroom door was very sticky. The bed was comfortable but small.
The lady who runs this place is the most rude person in the hospitality industry that we have come across & rather than being bitter & rude towards customers we suggest you remove your 
B&B from "Buy a Gift" if you don't like the cut they take, correct your signage about check in time, remove or correct your sign in the bathroom advising customers to put used towels in the shower tray if they would like clean ones & be polite with customers because reading other reviews there seems to be a pattern.

Utterly rude!

Stayed here with friends for one night. Our room was near the carpark not in the main building. The room was spacious and clean and it had all the amenities we needed. The free carpark was ideal. We arrived early and our room was ready. The lady of the house was friendly and helpful. Would stay here again if in the area.

Good place to stay

I stayed for two nights and found the landlady very off hand, zero customer service, I rang the bell thinking I had lost my key... no response, thankfully I found it, it’s like staying in a dormitory ... check out 10:30.... I stay I. Hotels every week and have done for 7 years. My worst experience to date. My money was welcome but not me.

Awfully cramped and blatantly rude

I was booked into Alexa house whilst attending a conference at the convention centre in Harrogate. The room was ok and the welcome was not quite what you expect when in Yorkshire but that was ok. However what followed at breakfast left me flabbergasted. I was seated and asked what I’d like to eat off the menu. I selected the haddock with poached egg and because of my gluten intolerance I asked if I could have mushrooms instead of bread. The next thing I heard come from the kitchen was as follows - no she can’t. She’s selected the most expensive thing on the menu and now she wants mushrooms as well. Go tell her no. Well there was no need for the server to come tell me no as I’d heard the whole conversation. Needless to say I cancelled my order and won’t ever stay at an establishment that makes their paying guests feel like muck!

The room was ok but the bathroom was tiny, cramped bath didn't make for a relaxing bath after a hard day at work. Getting out was tricky with sloping ceiling and hardly any space out between the wall and bath. Worst was the check out I was greeted with "I'm cooking" took my key and shut the door. Wouldn't book again

We stayed here for a wedding . I needed to cancel the rooms but was unable to do so and I confirmed by e mail that we would be coming. On arrival we informed very bluntly by a very rude and aggressive Sandra that were lucky they still had the rooms. This despite the fact that I had paid in full and clearly they were hoping we would not turn up and they could relet them later that day and double profit.

Tiny servings of breakfast and I was accused (in another review) of "greed " by having multiple bowls of cereal . In fact I had one bowl of cereal and one of fruit. Just petty...

Nice hotel exraordinarily dishonest and rude landlady

I couldn't have been happier , staying at this friendly and very well run B&B for a week , whilst the Harrogate 'Spring Harvest' event was taking place at the Harrogate Convention Centre (a short walk away) was a complete joy !  My accommodation was in one of the outside cottages which was ever so comfortable and spotlessly clean , as well as it being quiet and private .  The bed was extremely comfortable , that being a priority for me  because I suffer from  chronic back pain . The breakfasts were delicious , using the best quality local ingredients freshly cooked , there was ample choice . I feel that although I came as a guest I left as a friend ! Sandra , the owner , really looks after her guests . I will stay at Alexa House when I next visit Harrogate , it has a 'home from home ' feeling .   Thank you very much Sandra .
I couldn't do this review sooner because I've been hospitalised for a long while , but I'm back home now and I'm fully recovered .

Absolutely first class B&B in a prime location .

My husband and I stayed her with our three year old and 7 month old baby in the family room which is located In The outside cottages, next to the car park ideal for us as it meant we didn’t have to try negotiating children and luggage on stairs. Owner Sandra was very friendly on arrival and throughout our stay. 
Room was clean and well maintained and ample space to erect our own travel cot. Fitted nicely in our budget unlike other places in Harrogate. 
Would definitely recommend.

Very welcoming and clean great value

We stayed here for a night to go to a nearby wedding, and we really wish we hadn’t. 
We were charged £130 online for a family room, but when we arrived we were charged an extra £25 for using the single bed! It states £20 in the room. 
Everything is dusty, pictures attached. We found a spider in our bed, and then another on the ceiling. Pubic hair in the sink, smears and not cleaned properly, tea drips down the bin, disgusting.
Someone came past and banged our windows shut late as well! 
The bed was comfortable and warm, probably the only saving grace. 
But for a converted filthy annexe, it’s not worth even half of the £155 we paid. 
Do yourself a favour and book somewhere else.
