We had a short break at the Board Inn last weekend, and had a lovely time.  Both staff and local people were really friendly and made us most welcome. The room was perfect, spacious, warm and clean. Breakfast was first class with local products, nothing was too much trouble and the best scrambled egg I’ve had for a long time. Excellent value for money and would not hesitate to recommend and are planning to visit again next month we enjoyed it so much.

Short Break

Had a great stay recently at the Board. Room was excellent. Young manager was really helpful and did a great job despite the lack of staff. No chef hence no evening meals but he still managed to produced a cooked breakfast for everyone next morning.
No frills but great value.
Cosy bar, obviously dog friendly, and nice, local atmosphere.
Plenty of other places to eat in the village while they sort staffing out.
Looking forward to staying again soon. Keep up the good work, Dan.

Great stay at the Board.

A great place to stay. The new managers Dan and Casha made us feel very welcoming, they couldn’t have done any more.  

The rooms were very clean at a great price, with the location on the doorstep of all other amnesties.  Next time I visit Hawes I will be staying there again

Great place to stay

We popped in for a pint while we were waiting for our accommodation in town to be ready.  Very friendly local boozer with good selection of local ales.  We got chatting to a couple of ladies who were on a day trip from Leeds and enjoyed a pleasant hour or so.


Comfortable Friendly local

To enter a virtually empty pub an be greeted by the barman with his first words “ there’s no where to sit in here “ 
Just rude let alone weird .
Obviously it’s a local pub for local people, ( now where have I heard that one before? ) 
Spend your money elsewhere, they obviously don’t need it here .

The weirdest greeting we’ve ever had.

We stopped over at The Board Inn on the first night of a little road trip round North Yorkshire and Cumbria. Hawes is really nice with plenty of antique shops and cafes.The day we arrived was the  Swaledale Tup Sale so it was extremely busy with plenty of farmers enjoying the local pubs. Our room was lovely with a massive bed. It overlooked the main market square and had all amenities. It was very clean. We ate in the pub and the food was lovely. I had the lasagne which was delicious with big portion sizes. The room was quiet and qe slept well. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing - hot and freshly cooked when we came down. We had huge pots of tea and coffee with it and a lovely waitress who kept checking if we wanted more drinks or toast. 
I would definitely stay again.

Board Inn

Visited this lovely little pub.
Barmaid and Staff were very friendly and welcoming to my partner, dogs and myself.
Food was of a good standard and value for money. We couldn’t fit a pudding in!
My partner said the beer was on excellent form.
Would definitely recommend on all counts.


Lucky Find

Very disappointed with presentation of food ordered a chicken burger £10.95 which came minus the onion rings as waitress said she had eaten them and I had to wait until more where cooked. Chicken had to go back as was still pink. Burger was very basic bun, rocket, chicken. Go to the  White Heart down the street much cleaner nicer environment friendlier staff and food delicious. 

Served on a tea plate so looks bigger than it was.

Great dog friendly pub, very welcoming staff and local residents, best pint of Black sheep & Theakstons in Hawes in my opinion, well worth a visit.

We will return very soon in the future for another great pint. 

Week in the Dales

Visited whilst staying in the area and went in when we saw Dogs Welcome, got served and sat at table at bar. My small dog has anxiety problems so picked her up and was told by the barmaid that dogs must sit on the floor. The barmaid and two kitchen staff were sitting at a table at the bar having a good old natter, glad I'm not their boss paying for it. Certainly won't be back and recommend that dog owners visit the White Hart where dogs were fussed over by the staff with a great service and good food and a better pint
