We received a friendly welcome from a delightful couple, who showed a genuine concern, especially regarding my wife's slightly restricted mobility. We had a large room with a comfortable bed with a view across the River Wye. The walk in shower was great. Our hosts were willing to offer whatever sort of breakfast we liked. Most of the food is locally sourced. The bacon is delicious & the home made marmalade out of this world. We appreciated the generous welcome into the family home, which has many of Roger's own art works on display. Through the conservatory / breakfast room is a wonderful terrace garden overlooking the Wye where we were able to relax. We don't have a dog now, but I know dogs are welcome. One of the 2 family dogs has been poorly & I hope she's now on the mend. The house is just 10 minutes' walk from the city centre. There are also riverside walks that can begin outside.

Relaxing stay

Wonderfully Bohemian atmosphere to East Friars, artworks by the owner abound and books everywhere. When we stayed there were two lovely dogs and a cat to add to the welcome. The breakfast was a treat of good quality ingredients. Wouldn't hesitate to book in again at this lovely establishment run by two very nice people.


Great place to stay.

The room was spacious and comfortable with a riverside view which was lovely to sit and relax watching the world go by.

Fantastic huge shower and tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

The breakfast was amazing - cooked to order and eaten in the conservatory immediately beside the river.  If you like a comfortable, very friendly - genuinely family run place to stay then East Friars is perfect for you.....

A great riverside location with perfect access to the city by foot

We stayed here for one night for my husbands birthday and to to do some wedding outfit shopping the next day. It is the best B&B we have stayed in, our room was beautifu, view of the river. Roger was great and made us feel at home and nothing was too much trouble. Polly his wife was away and his son cooked breakfast which was delicious. It felt just like home to us and would definitely stay here again. Absolutely loved it 😀 Karen and Tim

Excellent place to stay

On arrival we were given a warm greeting by Polly & Roger.
Our spacious lovely room overlooked the river and was great.
We  & friends were in Hereford for a fancy dress party and Polly & Roger joined in our excitement for us re our costumes...
Breakfast both days was amazing and laid back...we felt like family and didn't leave the table for ages.
I cannot recommend East Friars enough.. If we are in the area again we will def. return.
It felt rather sad leaving having made new friends
