On arriving at Irton hall we drove up around the front gardens, with beautiful peacocks on the lawns. The Hall is really nice.
Check in was very quick. 
Staff were all very friendly,  polite and approachable. We were given times of evening meals and breakfast times and  We were given our room key (16). The room was huge, all in keeping with the age of the building, high ceilings and huge comfy bed with crisp white sheets and comfy pillows. Tv limited channels,  The view out of the bay window looked over the gardens and mountains, just perfect.
The bathroom had a large shower cubicle with a powerful shower and a Jacuzzi style bath which was very much needed after climbing Scafell Pike….
Downstairs in the bar area was a nice country pub feel, staff again really pleasant, food was really good with a great menu that caters for all. 
Breakfast on both mornings was really nice and filling, and all in with the price we paid.
Over all this little hidden gem was perfect for us , celebrating our 30th anniversary.

Hidden little Gem. Excellent

Comfortable, well appointed hotel. Helpful staff, good breakfasts, clean rooms. Lovely grounds. The restaurant offers a good selection of food at reasonable prices. We stayed for three nights with our family and dog. 

Comfortable break

Dreadful experience. Owner very rude. Front desk unmanned. Dated dirty rooms. Extortionate prices at the bar. Would not recommend to stay in this hotel or partake in an event here. Owner was rude and unhelpful

Vile

We stayed one night. Lovely building and grounds. Molly greeted us on arrival and welcomed us for our meal in the evening. She was very friendly and professional. Bar area and restaurant  good and the food was lovely. Our room and bathroom were large and clean with a lovely view.  Ive only dropped to 4 stars as room  14,  upstairs above the reception , meant  we could hear every conversation at the reception when staff were only doing their job .   Dont think other rooms would be affected as they were  on corridors behind a door crossing that corridor  and then their own door, but our room door on landing above reception.

Irton Hall lovely place to stay

I simply do not understand the 5-star reviews here. Apart from the location and building exterior everything about Irton Hall is below average, tired, and poor value. The double bed was two singles pushed together, the room was bland with poor quality furniture and no design style (unless beige featureless MFI is a style?) the luxury jacuzzi made a noise like a jet engine which ruined the small impact it delivered. The food was okay but far from very good many reviewers give it. The service was decidedly mixed, the receptionist was excellent but the bar staff excelled in taking orders without speaking and more or less threw our meals on the table, the breakfast staff were well-intentioned and did the best they could but lacked any management support. The bar area and restaurant were almost as bland as the room and it took a while to find a seat that didn't need reupholstering. No guest lounge, no outside seating (which given that was the best part of the property especially odd). We had a good 2-night stay but only because the location is so good but a premier inn would have delivered better value. A place very much in need and deserving modernisation.


Great location, lovely building and grounds... but inside tired and poor value.

The room offered was a good size, quiet and with a comfortable bed and a jacuzzi bath. The staff were friendly and courteous. The Breakfast was five star with delicious thick and tasty bacon, perfect sausage and poached eggs ! Nothing seemed to be missing for our stay and I would highly recommend Irton Hall

Highly Recommend

Probably in the top ten of good hotels I've ever stayed in  and I've stayed in a good many.  As said in other reviews it's the staff that make the place and although all we're good Jammie and Holly deserve a special mention for their commitment to their jobs but also friendly professional nature's.  The hall has a good energy about it. One small downside to our downstairs superior room was that it was a bit cold and the radiators were luke warm.  They were OK the following morning.  Jamie said the boiler pressure wax low and brought us an electric  heater  it fine howeaver spoil hge stay .  The food was good too and a freshly cooked hot breakfast topped off the stay.
If I was to comment on one small detail the  tired artifical flowers on the breakfast table would have bennifited from being fresh flowers. It's sometimes the small touches that make the experience what it is.

Very Good Valantines Break

Irton Hall is pretty well hidden away from it all so it's a great place to disappear here for a few days if you're wanting to avoid people and life in general 
Staff are friendly and really helpful and Chef Craig produces very well priced and comforting food. His specialty is fish so that's always worth looking out for.

Great lake district escape.

Amazingly good value. Nice restaurant lovely clean room with comfortable bed and jacuzzi bath. Friendly staff, the food was good. In impressive grounds. The perfect stopover for heading up Scafell Pike.

Great Value lovely hotel

Great hotel with a friendly welcoming team of people,

Humphrey behind the bar was very attentive throughout our stay, and the chef Craig who has been there for many years is the main reason we return. His food and attention to detail is simply the best, and always consistent with the quality and taste. He is a real asset to this hotel. 

Owner is also very friendly & welcoming, and you can tell that he looks after everyone very well.

Real gem of a place for anyone looking to stay when completing the Western fell walks….and a great venue to have a wedding too.
