A terrible terrible overnight stay from the Irish Ferries ferry. We arrived late and we had a room in the garden--this room is not fit for purpose. Two mis matched china mugs with tea and coffee but no milk. Tiny tiny bathroom and loo which was disgusting and the shower was jammed--did not work.
Disgraceful---£85 . Avoid at all cost---a Premier Inn nearby much better choice.

Terrible Hotel

Stayed here for one night with my partner who booked the hotel because it was convenient for the ferry. The hotel looks in need of some work doing to it but I was informed when checking in that it has recently been taken over by new owners and work is being done, which there was evidence of happening and I’m fine with that, it was in adequate condition for us.
The rooms are basic and a bit dated but once again adequate, just really need a redecorate which I assume will be done by the new owners. The beds were comfortable enough and the room and bedding were very clean which is the main thing that’s important. 
I marked the hotel down because the young woman on the reception desk was probably one of the most miserable people I have ever had the misfortune to be served by. She made me feel like it was a massive inconvenience me being there and the was she informed me of the hotel rules I felt like a naughty child being scalded by my overly critical mother. If you are expecting service with a smile then this is definitely not the place for you, more like service with a sour glower. I assume (and hope)  that with the new owners taking over some of the staff are new and yet to receive anything in the way of customer service training.
Hopefully I will be back again at some point, it is very convenient for the ferry and like to travel across to Ireland when as often as we can. It would be interesting what the new owners make of the place. Hopefully by then they will have had chance to give the reception staff some training in how to speak to a paying customer who has a lot of choice in the town of places to stay.

Service with a Scowl

This hotel is horrendous 😫 staff lazy hotel disgusting dirty and very dated .no Internet  gardens very unkept. Rooms windows so dirty couldn't see thru then. Rooms were not cleaned dust everywhere. Food star rating 1 so was not gonna  even attempt the food .worst hotel iv ever stayed in 

Avoid avoid avoid!!!!

This hotel is shabby and in need of major refurbishment. 

 My wife and booked it for two nights, one for the night before travelling to Rire and one for the night of the day of our return. As as soon as we arrived it was obvious it was nothing like the website. The whole place looked tired and run down. 

Our experience on the second night was much worse. We were told to go outside and follow the path around to Room 20. There were, however, no numbers on the doors. . I therefore went back to reception and was told it was the last room at the end of the path. No one offered to take  us there. To get to this path you have to walk over a paved courtyard with lots of loose uneven paving stones which were infested with weeds. The path  by Room 20  was littered with crisp packets and the like and clearly had not been  recently swept.

I was woken up at midnight by the constant and noisy flushing of a lavatory above our room. The mattress was  'clapped out' and should have been replaced. After that sleep was basically impossible, so we got up at 4.45am and left.

I cannot remember all the hotels I have stayed in in the last 70 years, but if I live another 70, I know i will remember this one,

Last minute booking and offered a small double. The room was small - the bed was tiny. Decor tired and everywhere smelt of stale cooking - our window opened onto the smoking area so no relief possible. WiFi did not reach our room. When I checked at reception I was told there was nothing she could do. We ate dinner in the restaurant - a very reduced menu to what shows online. The meal was ok but nothing more than that. Having booked breakfast we then asked for a refund and left long before service began. Surfaces in public areas were tacky although bedroom was clean. Everywhere could do with a refresh. Plus point is you can see the ferry from the front, large free car park and easy walk to better restaurants. We won’t be back.

Needs a refurb and a refresh

We haven’t stayed at the Hotel , but we were at a funeral wake . The food and service were very good , couldn’t fault it . What we were unhappy with was a female manager behaving disgracefully in the other bar while we were consoling our family .The manager was constantly pressing the bar bell loudly in the other bar for no reason as there was a member of staff in the bar , we heard a man behind the bar telling her to stop doing it and she ignored him and persisted knowing we could all hear it !! You need to sort your staff out as you’d get more business without staff like her !!

Food and service great but get rid of that manager !

We spent the night in a lovely large clean bedroom with a sofa and a kingsize bed following a family party which was in the Hotel the catering the Hotel had provided was beautiful with both Hot and Cold food. Breakfast the following morning was just as good.
If you're looking for a posh Hotel then the Boathouse won't be for you it's so much more than that the ethos behind the Boathouse is wonderful funding loads of activities for the local people which is fantastic. We would stay here again  

Very good

We stayed here to attend our nephews 18th birthday party.at this venue . the check in was quick and efficient. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Food was nice and fresh. Room was clean with a fantastic view of the bay. would definateley recommend to stay here.

Rios 18th

I stayed here for few nights hotel looked nice untill we arrived in the room their was thick dust the blinds was broken the bed sheets smelt of sweat like they never been washed their was mould in the draws of bed and the pillows was really worn out ready for the bin, the shower was no good blocked up plug hole filled with hairs the shower cubicle filled up of water deep so when you got out flooded bathroom  the toilet holder was coming of the wall the sink tap just dribbled out of water! The windows was dirty could not see out of them, breakfast took over a hour to arrive.i never had any coffee or tea and milks fresh in the room every day. Or even no fresh towels.i would rate this hotel 1 star ⭐ as was not worth the money with nothing working and such filth

Bad hotel

We were a walking group of 24 people and 3 dogs.. such a dog friendly hotel.. the hotel itself was very nice..  rooms were lovely and clean.. food was great, very big portions,  very reasonably priced.. .. staff were lovely.. Chris, Chez, Matthew, the chef and the lady that served us breakfast.. we were well looked after.. We had a great time.. thanks very much from The Halton Strollers xx
