Busy in a good way - good atmosphere, friendly staff and full of walkers. Decided last minute to stay for food and we were pleasantly surprised by vegan/vegetarian options. Particularly the vegan pie which is great - really excellent and it felt like someone in the kitchen was bothered about getting something different and quality for veggies so thanks for whoever does that selection. Ive been numerous times over the years and its always a friendly and quality place to go (and the countryside is fantastic around it).

2nd visit to this lovely location and close to hikes we chose. 
The rooms were lovely, comfortable beds and Staff were lovely, esp the male ones and the breakfast lady…nothing too much trouble. 
It was an extremely busy Pub so there were queues but always got a seat but unfortunately they were pub benches and after a climb wasn’t comfortable.
Please buy comfortable chairs!! 🙏🏻

Stayed here for 1 night, lovely pub/hotel in a fantastic setting. Arrived early and staff were happy for us to leave car in car park early whilst we went for a walk, and we checked in when we got back. Lovely garden to sit in for a few beers/ciders and we ate in the evening, food was very nice. Room was very spacious with comfortable bed and breakfast in the morning was excellent. Would definitely stay again!

Lovely pub/hotel in a fantastic setting!

Avoid this pub on busy weekends. While it is a nice pub with good food and drinks during the ordinary days and in spring/autumn monts, summer weekends are overcrowded here and food is hard to get. Waiting times for food are often 90 minutes on weekends afternoons. There is probaly just one chef who has to prepare dozens of orders at once and while the staff at bar tells you the waiting time is at least 45 minutes, brace yourself for much more. It has happened already twice to me that I did not get the food I ordered. In both cases I gave up after more than one hour of waiting. I was refunded which is a plus for the pub (the staff is nice, really). So my advice is - if you want to eat here, do not go to Rambelrs on Saturday or Sunday afternoons in summer months or bank on bank holiday weekends. Especially when the weather is nice and surroudning hills are full of hungry hikers.

Avoid it on weekends

The pub/hotel is set amid stunning countryside with good views on all sides, and as the name suggests it caters mainly to walkers who come to hike up to nearby Kinder Scout. Although it’s a charming period property the rooms are very comfortable, all well-maintained and with modern decor and clean lines. The free wifi is reliable and fast enough to make video calls etc - the latter a necessity because Edale has poor-to-nonexistent mobile coverage. Meanwhile the staff all seemed very helpful and welcoming on my visit, and the bar downstairs was lively and uplifting with some interesting beers on offer (there’s also a very pleasant beer garden outside.) I stayed only one night and enjoyed the experience. Eating in the evening, I didn’t find the main course much to write home about (a hamburger which turned out to be mass produced) and wished I’d ordered the chicken tikka which someone else had, and which smelt delicious. However, the sticky toffee pudding desert was very nice indeed - and a generous portion - while breakfast was also very tasty. Small niggles: I’d love to have had fresh orange juice at breakfast rather than from concentrate - and English butter might have been a better choice than imported…. Also, in the room there were no power points by the bedside and the shower was rather puny. But…. these as I say are small points. All in all this seemed to me to be a good quality place and I will remember it for all the right reasons.

A beautiful day on kinder scout ended with a warm welcome, hearty food and an excellent ale (or three!).

The Rambler Inn is a great place to base yourself to enjoy stretches of the Pennines way and glorious views across the Peak District.

A wonderful base camp

Stayed at The Rambler Inn for two nights and had a lovely time. We received a warm and friendly welcome, room was comfortable, clean and warm and breakfast was hearty and delicious with lots of choice. We ate in one evening and the meal was great! The other half said his steak and kidney pie was the best he'd ever eaten! 

Thoroughly recommended.  A great place to stay  in a beaufiful location.



Wonderful stay

Went to this pub for a family dinner with my wife and kids. The staff  were very friendly and welcoming. there was really good pub grub with big portions and the beer was good. It was also dog friendly too. I would very much recommend going to this pub

Very nice pub 

We stayed at the Ramblers Inn for our sisters 40th birthday. It was perfect in every way. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were all amazing. Beds were comfy, location was ideal, food was hearty and tasty, everyone was above and beyond friendly and welcoming. Our sister had a fantastic birthday weekend hiking - thank you to the Ramblers Inn for making it perfect.

Faultless

The Rambler Inn is a really welcoming pub and serves good beer and great food. If you want a base for some fantastic High Peaks walking you don't need to look any further. My brother in law and I have stayed twice this year and we'll be back next year!
